Chapter 8
JUSTIN
Hearing my wife complain about us not spending as much time together as she would’ve wanted over the past week was starting to aggravate the hell out of me, but the last thing that I wanted was to get into an argument with her.
When she got into the shower with me, I knew what she was on, but I wasn’t in the mood for all that.
I’d been working for the last two days and just wanted to relax.
But then she came into the family room while I was trying to chill, yapping about not wanting things to go back to how they were before I proposed to her.
So, being the good husband that I was, I ended up giving in and tapping her ass from the back right there in the family room on the couch.
“Whew, babe, that was so good. I needed that.”
“Thanks, babe,” I replied as I backed up off of Ava then headed for the bathroom. I needed to wash myself off.
As soon as I stepped into the bathroom, Ava was on my heels.
“I gotta take a shower. I feel sticky. Care to join me?”
“Nah, baby, not this time. Do you though,” I said as I grabbed my wash rag and started cleaning myself off at the bathroom sink. “I’m about to relax. I have to be at work early. All I’m really trying to do for the rest of the evening is chill.”
“What you mean you have to work in the morning? I thought you were off tomorrow?”
“I’m supposed to be off, but Derek and I are splitting Rob’s shift. Rob had a death in his family and needs the day off.”
“Hmph, okay, I guess. I’m sorry to hear that Rob had a death in his family. That was nice of you to work part of his shift for him.”
“Yeah, plus I could use the overtime. My savings took a hard hit over the last few months, so I need to recoup and make as much money as I can.”
“You act like we’re hurting for money.”
“I didn’t say that. I just said I could use the overtime to build my savings account back up is all. Why you so on edge?”
“I’m not on edge. I just don’t want you to get wrapped up in all things Justin and forget that you now have a wife that enjoys and needs your attention also.”
“Babe, you make it pretty hard to forget I have a wife,” I rebutted then headed out of the bathroom.
This was the shit that I was talking about.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved my wife more than anything, I just needed my space, and for some reason she couldn’t understand that.
I could only imagine how she would feel if she knew about the secret lifestyle I had, which was why I never intended on her ever finding out about it.
It was a little after one in the afternoon, but I was feeling beat, so I decided to lay in bed in hopes of being able to take a nap. Just as I was getting comfortable, here comes Ava, hopping in bed next to me. Grabbing the remote for the TV, she turned it on.
“Wanna watch some Netflix with me?”
“To be honest, I was hoping to take a nap.” I sighed as I watched her browse through the new releases on Netflix.
“Suit yourself then. Since you don’t want to watch anything, I’ma check out Good Girls to see what all the hype is about.”
“Ava, sweetie pie, would it be asking too much for you to watch TV in the family room? I’m tired as hell and all I want is to be able to get some rest,” I huffed as nicely as possible.
“I swear you been actin’ real distant lately, but it’s whatever, J!” Ava spat, turning the TV off, then throwing the remote down hitting me on my arm with it.
I wanted to say something because I honestly didn’t have a clue what she was bitching about but decided to just keep quiet instead.
She was huffin’ and puffin’ looking silly as hell as she snatched up her cellphone then headed out of our bedroom.
On her way out, she made sure to slam our bedroom door extra hard, and that was when she had me about to snap out on her ass.
Snatching my cellphone off the bedside table next to me, I decided to text Tate to see if he was home. I needed to get out of the house and away from Ava before I wound up saying or doing something I would regret later.
Me: wyd?
Tate: getting ready for a date.
When Tate replied back that was when I remembered walking in on Ava talking about Tate to Shane and Dawn.
Me: with Ava’s sister?
Tate: Yeah, man.
Me: You playin’ with fire, man. When did y’all start kickin’ it?
Tate: your wedding, bro. Playing with fire how?
Me: she’s my wife’s sister bro. That’s weird as fuck. You know how you are when it comes to women. Are you sure you should go there with her of all people? The last thing I need is to have any static from my wife about you and her sister.
Tate: Man it’s not even that serious. We’re just hanging out and having fun. I don’t see how it can cause any static with you and yours. Truthfully, it has nothing to do with ya’ll.
Me: Alright then bro. You know I could care less about who you kick it with, but that’s my wife’s sister… just do right by her please ‘cause you know how Ava can get.
Tate: Got it… no worries.
I really didn’t care if Tate and Dawn kicked it.
I just didn’t want things to go left with them and Dawn to bring the shit to Ava then Ava would come to me with it.
Tate was a cool dude and all, but he couldn’t maintain a relationship with a woman to save his soul.
I knew the real reason behind why, which made it even more unsettling for me that he chose Dawn of all people to kick it with.
Seeing that Tate was not available, I decided to hit up my option B.
Me: Hey, you busy?
S.B: How did I know I would be hearing from you today?
Me: How so?
S.B: The look and the vibe you gave off this morning to start.
Me: Are you home? I need to get out of the house.
S.B: Yeah I’m home.
Me: Bet. I’m on my way.
Getting out of bed and throwing on a Nike jogging suit with a pair of Air Force Ones, I grabbed my cellphone, wallet, and keys then headed to the garage.
“Where you goin’, J?”
“Out!” I grunted as I walked through the kitchen heading to the garage door.
I noticed that Ava had got up from the couch and was heading toward me.
“Out where? And don’t say Tate’s house because he and Dawn are about to go out.”
“Oh my God, Ava! You doin’ too much, babe. I swear I don’t know why you enjoy nagging me like you do.”
“Nagging you? You just sent me out of our bedroom so you could rest, and not even ten minutes later, you talkin’ about you goin’ out. What’s going on with you?”
“I just need some air.”
“Why, what’s wrong? Why do you feel you need to leave to get air?”
“Just leave it be, Ava, seriously. I can’t with all of this nagging.”
I was really trying hard not to snap out on her ass and hurt her feelings, but she just wouldn’t let up.
“Really, J! Ion want to leave it be! What’s going on with you?”
“YOU!” I bellowed as loud as I could. “You’re the problem! You crowding and smothering the hell out of me, Ava. All I want to do is chill and be left alone, and you just don’t get it, man!”
“It’s not my intention to make you feel crowded or smothered, Justin. I just enjoy being with you is all. You makin’ me feel like you don’t like being around me.”
“Are you serious right now? If I didn’t like being around you, I wouldn’t have married your ass.
I didn’t realize that once we got married, if I’m not working, you’d expect me to be up under you all the damn time.
Distance makes the heart grow fonder. Hell, you don’t give me enough space to miss ya ass.
I’ll be back!” I spat, shaking my head, then went into the garage, slamming the door behind me.
I hated that I had to get into it with Ava, but damn!
You would think that she would be just as tired of being up under me as I was of being up under her.
I could tell from the look in her eyes that I’d hurt her feelings, which was something that I was definitely not trying to do, but she pushed me over the cliff that time.
Hopping in my truck, I backed out of the garage then headed to get a little peace of mind.
