Chapter 6 Sword Spirit Bond

Senior Brother saw I was still hesitating and shot me a stern glare.

“If you keep pushin’ it, the sword spirit’s gonna get mad!”

Senior Sister seized the moment and grabbed my hand.

A sharp sting pricked my fingertip.

The sword spirit accepted me.

It flew to my side, powerful spiritual energy instantly wrapping around my entire body.

Just like that, I possessed an artifact left behind by an ascended master.

Complete with a sword spirit at the Transformation Stage.

Was it really this simple?

I looked at the three of them, a little uneasy. “Don’t we need some kind of ceremony?”

The sword spirit spoke up, bold and open. “We northeast spirits are straightforward. We say what we mean.”

“My last master told me before he ascended to help grow Heishui Sect.”

“I could tell your foundation is good. So I hope you’ll stay here a few more years.”

The three of them led the dazed me deeper into the sect.

The main hall sat in the heart of the snow mountains, yet inside it felt warm as spring.

Senior Sister brought in a flying dragon and told Senior Brother to stew it.

She pulled me onto the heated kang to warm up.

Seeing how stiff I was, she smiled and took my hand again.

“Don’t be scared. Heishui Sect is remote, and the cold here bites deep.”

“In five hundred years, Master has only taken me and your Senior Brother as disciples.”

“So when we heard you were coming, we were over the moon. We waited at the gate since dawn.”

“We don’t have fancy treasures here, but cultivation resources grow wild everywhere. You can take all you need.”

“As long as you don’t mind staying.”

Right then, Senior Brother brought in the flying dragon soup.

“Come on, try your Senior Brother’s cooking.”

I sat on the kang, holding the bowl, surrounded by their eager gazes.

This kind of warmth was something I had never felt in Wentian Sect.

My eyes burned. As I lowered my head to drink, a tear slipped into the soup.

Senior Sister startled. “Don’t cry—did we scare you?”

Senior Brother deflated, letting out a long sigh. “Guess it didn’t work after all.”

“I knew Heishui Sect couldn’t keep anyone.”
