Chapter 31

Chapter Thirty-One

Once Eden closed the front door Randi pushed her against it. Their lips met in a passionate kiss. There was nothing soft or tender, this kiss was about intention and claiming each other as their own.

Randi’s heart was pounding in her chest and she could barely get a breath. “You know I love this dress.” She slipped the straps down her shoulders and gently bit down on the flesh.

“Oh God, Randi.” Eden gasped.

Randi reached around and unzipped Eden’s dress, letting it fall to the floor. “You are so beautiful,” she moaned then crushed her lips to Eden’s again.

She could feel Eden’s hands at the hem of her shirt. Their lips came apart just long enough for Eden to pull the shirt over Randi’s head, leaving it with her dress.

Randi moaned into Eden’s mouth as her lips parted and her tongue slipped inside. Frantic fingers pulled at the button on Randi’s jeans and moments later she kicked them off along with her shoes.

Randi’s hands roamed over Eden’s body as she felt Eden’s fingers comb through her hair.

She unclasped Eden’s bra, freeing her perfect pert breasts.

Randi kissed her way down Eden’s neck across her collarbone.

She cupped Eden’s breast running her thumb over the hardened bud while her tongue circled her other nipple.

Eden groaned, keeping Randi’s head in place and writhing against the door. “Good God.”

“Mmm.” Randi hummed against Eden’s nipple then bit down.

Eden’s fingers tightened in Randi’s hair giving it a gentle pull.

An electric heat shot to Randi’s core, melting her from the inside.

Randi couldn’t wait any longer; she had to taste her lover.

She fell to her knees, grasping Eden’s behind and pressing her lips just below her belly button.

She slowly slid Eden’s underwear down her legs.

Her tongue lapped at Eden’s belly button then licked down her abs, stopping at Eden’s center. The groan that echoed around the room sent another jolt through Randi’s body. She ran her tongue down Eden’s center, circling at her opening.

“Oh Randi,” Eden said breathlessly.

Randi felt Eden spread her legs further apart as she leaned against the door for support.

“Feel my love, baby,” Randi said then let her tongue roam through Eden’s folds, lapping up her wetness. “Mmm.” She moaned as she sucked Eden’s clit into her mouth.

Eden’s hips bucked but Randi held her firmly in place. She let her tongue flit over Eden’s clit with a slow pace then flattened it against the swollen bud.

“Fuck!” Eden groaned.

Randi slid her hand over Eden’s thigh until her fingers joined the fun.

She circled Eden’s opening with one finger while her tongue did the same to her clit.

Randi pushed one finger inside, curling it into the warm wetness then added another.

She felt Eden brace herself with one hand on the door and the other firmly tangled in Randi’s hair.

Randi started to move her fingers slowly in and out as her tongue matched the rhythm on Eden’s clit.

“Oh, yes, yes, yes,” Eden moaned.

Randi increased her pace and could hear Eden’s breaths become ragged. Her fingers pulled on Randi’s hair a little tighter and Randi picked up the pace even more.

Eden was panting now, trying to get a breath. “I’m close, babe.”

Randi sucked Eden’s clit into her mouth once again and let her tongue match the rhythm of her swiftly moving fingers. She pushed in deeper and held her fingers there, stroking Eden’s favorite spot.

Eden’s muscles tensed and Randi knew she was flying over the edge. She could feel the orgasm pulsing on her tongue. With Eden’s muscles clinched around Randi’s fingers she barely moved them and kept pressure on Eden’s clit hoping to squeeze every last wave from the orgasm.

Eden’s fingers finally eased in Randi’s hair, but she didn’t move. Not yet. One last shuddering breath and Randi kissed Eden’s center, put her arm around her middle, holding her up, while she stood.

Eden’s eyes were closed with the most beautiful look on her face. Randi kissed just below her ear and whispered, “You are amazing.”

Eden groaned. “I guess I’ll live against this door now because I can’t move.”

Randi smiled and pecked Eden on the lips. “I love you,” she said softly.

Eden opened her eyes and stared into Randi’s. “I know,” she said. “I love you, too.”

“I will never run away from you again.”

Eden sighed then nodded.

Eden didn’t think she’d ever come that hard. Randi could build desire inside her that was so intense. It was like nothing she’d ever felt before. Then Randi would take her that much higher, dropping her off a cliff, free falling into an ocean of pleasure Eden didn’t know existed.

Eden smiled as she gently ran a finger up and down between Randi’s breasts. She was still trying to catch her breath. Eden hoped Randi felt the way she made her feel.

“What did you do to me?” Randi gasped.

Eden smiled and kissed the corner of her mouth. “I loved you, the same way you loved me against the front door.”

Randi opened one eye and looked at Eden. “I don’t think I’ll ever see that door the same.”

Eden chuckled. “I know I won’t.”

“Don’t think we’re anywhere near being through,” Randi said, opening the other eye.

Eden smiled. “I was not thinking that. I was merely letting you catch your breath.”

Randi nodded and exhaled. Eden could see the love in her eyes and felt her hand gently moving up and down her back.

“Do you remember when we talked about Cari’s book before we signed her?” Randi said. “I asked you about the friends to lovers trope.”

“I remember. Were you hinting at something then?” Eden raised her eyebrows.

“Maybe, but if we screw this up, there’s always the second chance trope,” Randi said.

Eden reached over and pinched Randi’s nipple. “Nope, that’s not going to happen.”

“Ouch!” Randi’s eyes widened. “That’s right, because we’ve got this friend thing down.” She grinned. “We’ve knocked it out of the ballpark.”

Eden chuckled and tilted her head. “Are you sure you don’t like baseball?”

“No, I told you, I like hot dogs and cold beer.”

“Got it.” Eden ran her thumb along Randi’s jaw. She couldn’t stop touching her.

“Is this the part in the book where we break up and get back together?” Randi asked softly.

“You have learned a lot about romance novels,” Eden said. “I’d say no. We did not break up, this is just us getting to our happily ever after.”

“I like that,” Randi said. “Do you think we’re the idiots that they talk about in reviews for friends to lovers books? Because we could’ve been doing this the whole time.”

Eden giggled as Randi pushed her over on her back and kissed her passionately. They were finished talking.

The next morning when Randi walked into the kitchen Eden said, “I thought we’d try the waffle thing again.”

“Baby.” Randi walked over and put her arms around Eden from behind. “You didn’t have to do that.”

“I know.” Eden leaned into her, savoring the contact. “I wanted to.” She turned in Randi’s arms. “But don’t get used to it. We can’t be late for work.” She kissed her on the lips and handed her a plate.

“Did you get a text from Analise this morning?” Randi asked, sitting down at the table.

“Oh yeah, she’s excited about something.” Eden slid the syrup over to Randi just like she’d done yesterday morning. Instead of fear and anxiety she saw happiness and love on Randi’s face.

When Randi reached for the syrup, Eden held on, touching her fingers.

Randi looked up and smiled. “This is so much better than yesterday.”

Eden nodded and winked at her.

“What do you think this new brilliant idea of Analise’s could be?” Randi asked, making air quotes.

Eden shrugged as she cut into her waffle. “Who knows. She does this sometimes and I have to say it’s usually a good idea.”

Eden watched as Randi chewed a piece of her waffle.

“Mmm, it’s delicious,” Randi said. “Just like yesterday.”

Eden pushed a piece of waffle into the syrup on her plate. “Uh, this weekend, I’ll clean out space for you in the bedroom closet and make room in the dresser.”

Randi looked up from her plate and reached for her coffee.

Letty chose that moment to saunter into the kitchen and meowed loudly. She walked through Eden’s legs under the table then made several passes around Randi’s. Eden could hear her purring.

“I guess Letty wants me to spend more time here,” Randi said, looking down at the cat.

“Oh, she does.” Eden nodded with a big smile on her face. “She’s not the only one.”

Randi chuckled.

They finished their breakfast and gathered their things for work. Randi didn’t need her car that day so she rode with Eden.

Once they made it to HLR, Eden walked into her office with Randi right behind her.

“I wasn’t sure the love birds would make it in today,” Analise said, standing in the doorway.

Randi chuckled. “We are responsible, dedicated love birds.”

Analise chuckled as she walked into Eden’s office. “We’re taking this show on the road.”

Eden exchanged a look with Randi and shrugged.

“On the road?” Randi asked.

“Yep, you two are going to author conferences,” Analise replied. “There’s a big one in Vegas. You’re our best team and you’re going.”

“Wait, I’m not on a promo team, that’s Randi’s speciality,” Eden said. “I’m your money girl, remember? You send Laura or Kristina.”

“You and Randi together got us Cari DeWare and we want more,” Analise said with enthusiasm.

“Hey,” Cari said from the doorway.

“You’re just in time,” Analise said. “Eden and Randi are going to the big book conference in Vegas.”

“Great!” Cari said. “I’ll be there. I’ll introduce you to my author friends. This will be so much fun.”

“Perfect,” Analise said. She looked at Eden and Randi. “I’ll email you the details.”

“Will you be going with us?” Randi asked.

“Oh yeah, I’ll be there,” Analise replied.

“Maybe we’ll find you a distraction,” Randi said with a grin. “You know what they say. What happens in Vegas…”

“Oh no.” Analise shook her head. “Just because you and Eden have this blissful aura surrounding you—she swept her arm in a circle—“doesn’t mean everybody else should. I’ve told you, I’m through with the dating game.”

“Have you ever thought about dating a woman?” Randi asked.

Eden’s brows flew up her forehead as she watched this exchange.

“You’ve had fun hanging out with us and our friends,” Randi added. “It’s like that, only better.”

“Hmm,” Analise murmured. “Cari, I have a few books I need you to sign.”

Cari grinned and gave them a thumbs up as she followed Analise out of the office.

Randi grinned at Eden. “I know what our next project is going to be.”

“Uh huh.”

“We’re going to introduce Analise to the sweet side of life.”

Eden chuckled. “Oh, we’re the sweet side of life?”

“Absolutely. We’re going to find someone who will sweep her off her feet and show her what it feels like to be valued and not just during the chase.”

Eden smiled and watched Randi get up and close the door. She walked around Eden’s desk and sat in her lap.

“Oh!”

Randi smiled. ”Are there rules about kissing at work?”

Eden chuckled. “Well, you did close the door.”

Randi pecked her on the lips. “You know what happens in Vegas?”

“Yeah.” Eden grinned. “Gambling.”

“What else?”

“Drinking.” Eden raised her brows.

“Yeah?” Randi giggled and began to hum the wedding march.

Eden laughed. “So you want to go from friends to lovers to girlfriends to partners to wives?”

“I know what you’re thinking,” Randi said. “That’s quite the turnaround from all the doubts just a couple of days ago.”

Eden smiled and tilted her head.

“When you know you know,” Randi stated. “Is that a trope?”

Eden shook her head. “I told you, we’re not a romance novel.”

Randi cupped the side of Eden’s face. “We may not be a book, but we are romance.”

She paused and Eden could see her green eyes sparkle.

“And we’re love,” Randi said.

Eden softly pressed her lips to Randi’s in a slow deliberate kiss. She inhaled, put her hand at the nape of Randi’s neck, and deepened the kiss. Randi’s moan made Eden melt inside. They were a lot of things, but one thing Eden knew for sure is that she and Randi were forever.
