CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE ~ FOUR YEARS AGO

Abby: I don’t like how we left things, but I don’t know how to fix it

Graeme: Maybe there is no fixing it

Abby: Please don’t say that

Graeme: I don’t mean it in the way you’re thinking. Maybe there’s nothing we can DO. Maybe we just need time and space to let things sort themselves out

Abby: We have a whole ocean’s worth of space

Abby: I’ve never wished I could unsend a text more. Ignore that, please. I realize how hypocritical that sounds since I’m the one who...yeah. I’m sorry.

Graeme: It’s okay, Pumpkin Spice. We’ll get there.

October 31

Abby:

Abby: Happy Halloween! Or should I say Happy Samhain! You’re probably already in bed, but Drew, Brodie, and I are headed to a party, and I wanted to send you a pic of our costumes.

Graeme: Out for the night with some mates, so I’m still up. You all look braw. Watch out for all the ghouls and ghosties tonight, Pumpkin Spice. Have fun. xx

November 15

Abby: We’ve never gone this long without talking, and I hate it

Abby: I miss you

November 16

Abby: We said we’d be friends forever, but I understand if you need space. If I were you, I’d tell me to fuck off and then fuck off some more. So for now, I’m going to do exactly that. Please don’t hate me forever. I’ll be here if and when you’re ready. xo
