Jealousy, And Lion's Den

We both lay beside each other, breathing heavily. I felt like I had just gone to heaven and come back.

Alfa is truly an apex predator—he preyed on every inch of my body, leaving me throbbing down there.

"Wow," I murmured, remembering when he said he would erase all my previous memories about other men. He was right because it truly felt like my first time.

"Who knew our little bunny had a devilish side?" he teased, propping himself up on his elbow as he faced me.

"Shut up," I mumbled, looking everywhere but at him. I had no idea how he could still look at me without a hint of embarrassment. Thank God I was covering my nakedness with the blanket.

"I thought you were convulsing," he mocked, referring to what I had done when I reached my climax.

"Shut up! No one talks about their sex life right after!" I pouted, and he suddenly jumped on me, making me yelp.

"Is it just me, or are you glowing?" he asked, staring intently into my eyes. I started stuttering.

"Ah, now you're stuttering. Just an hour ago, you were taking the lead and being the boss," he teased. Can't he just be less annoying?

"I'm hungry," I said, desperate to escape his grip. I feared that if I stayed too long in his arms, I might ignore the soreness between my legs and go for another round.

"Well, I suppose. You really did work yourself a lot," he said before getting up. "Stay there," he ordered as he walked away—completely naked. I shamelessly admired the view. He was more built than I had imagined.

As soon as he left the room, I stood on the bed and jumped up and down like a teenage girl. I felt so happy sharing this moment with Alfa; no words could describe it.

I instantly covered myself when I heard him returning. He had already put on a pair of trousers and threw a shirt at me—his shirt, I guessed, since it was big.

"Wear it, and let's go eat. I've already ordered ice cream and chicken pie. You don't mind, do you?" he asked.

I shook my head. "It's fine," I replied, expecting him to turn around so I could put on the shirt. But he didn't budge.

"Don't expect me to turn around," he smirked.

"You're the most annoying creature ever," I barked, turning my back to him instead. I quickly put on the shirt and let the blanket drop.

"I wonder how long you'll keep hiding," he said as he led me out. The shirt was big enough to cover me like a short gown.

"The shirt looks better on you," he added, making me blush.

"I just got a new nightgown," I teased, inhaling his scent from the fabric.

He laughed, and we both walked outside to the poolside and sat down. I couldn't believe how deeply we had connected.

"Our meal is here," he announced. I turned to see a young, beautiful girl approaching with a bag that had the Maris Hotel label. I guessed that's where he ordered from.

"Good afternoon, Sire," the girl greeted shyly, looking younger than me. I didn't like the way she was eyeing Alfa.

I cleared my throat, making sure she knew I was here.

"Good afternoon," she greeted me as well, though without the same enthusiasm—instead, there was a hint of disdain.

"Thank you for the meal," Alfa said, giving her a brief side glance. That one glance was enough for her to practically swoon. You don't get to fawn, wacko. Only I get to do that.

"Anything else?" she asked, feigning innocence. Babe, I'm a girl—I know what you're doing.

"No, nothing else. We're fine," I cut in, adjusting the collar of Alfa's shirt to make sure she saw that I was wearing it. She gasped but quickly masked it. I smirked.

"Have a nice meal," she mumbled before leaving.

"Wow, Bunny is jealous," Alfa teased.

I glared at him. "She was practically all over you."

"Don't worry. You already have me," he reassured before digging into his food. His words made me feel warm inside, and I followed suit.

After eating, I decided to bring up something that had been on my mind since we arrived at his house.

"Have you spoken to Henry?" I asked as we sat by the pool, dipping our legs into the water.

"Yes, I have."

"So, what happened?"

"Well, he's bitter and refuses to see his own faults. He blames me for his misery, and while I understand that, I don't understand why he needs to make you suffer too. I wouldn't mind if he punished me alone—but not you." He shrugged.

"I think he's targeting your company," I told him.

"I know. He said I either compensate him with a huge share, or he'll never forgive me." He looked sad. Alfa deeply cared about the people he loved and would go to great lengths to make them happy.

"I wish he had asked for something else. This company is my pride. I want to be able to face my parents in the afterlife and tell them that I grew the company bigger than it was—that I wasn't a wayward child and made good use of what they left me." He looked at me. "I might end up being brutal and sending him away since, technically, he's just a worker. His father's shares don't even make up 3%."

I knew Henry wouldn't forgive him even if Alfa handed him half the company—he simply wanted Alfa to suffer as much as he was suffering.

"I don't want to send him away, Bunny. He's my brother." The sadness in his eyes broke my heart.

"Don't worry. You won't have to," I reassured him, making him rest his head on my lap. Why couldn't Henry see what a wonderful friend and brother Alfa was?

It had been more than a week since he kidnapped me to Calabar, and every day had been amazing. He took me around the city, and I had to glare at every single girl who looked his way—much to his amusement.

Now, we were on our way to have dinner at one of his father's friend's homes. Alfa always used different cars, and I couldn't wait to tell Jessica about my incredible week.

"You always make people uneasy," I whispered as we sat at the dining table.

The man hosting us, Mr. Donald, was wealthy but not a shareholder in Alfa's company. He had a beautiful wife and an even more beautiful daughter who made me feel pale in comparison.

"How do you mean?" Alfa whispered back.

"Look around." Everyone was trying to impress him, as if they were afraid he would criticize them. I didn't understand why. Alfa never judged people and rarely got provoked, so he probably didn't even notice.

"I see nothing. Just two beautiful women," he growled in my ear, making me pinch him for only acknowledging them.

As we ate, Alfa and Mr. Donald discussed business, while the two women occasionally chimed in. Sapphire, Mr. Donald's daughter, kept stealing glances at me whenever she spoke to Alfa.

She was trying to show me that she was a better match for him.

"Rose here has a very good business acumen," Alfa suddenly said, squeezing my hand. "I was privileged to do some sales with her, and I can confidently say she's an excellent saleswoman." He smiled proudly.

"That's not all that impressive," Sapphire scoffed.

"Manners," Mr. Donald chided her.

After dinner, Sapphire invited me to her room.

"Come, Rose, let's have some girl time."

"Alright," I agreed, standing up.

Alfa tried to stop me, but I was determined. I'm walking into the lion's den, but if I run, that means I don't deserve Alfa.
