Chapter Three #4

“I tested before rehearsals started. I haven’t been with anyone since either.”

“Do you want a condom?”

“I don’t, but I’ll use one if you do.”

“I don’t want one.”

His gaze held mine. “Then I want you exactly like this.”

I positioned his cock at my entrance.

Shane exhaled as I sank down.

The stretch made me pause halfway. He stayed completely still beneath me, fingers flexing once against my thighs.

“You’re okay?” he asked.

“Yes.”

I lowered myself another inch.

His jaw flexed.

I took the rest of him slowly until my hips met his.

We both stopped breathing.

Shane’s palms slid to my waist. “You feel incredible.”

I braced my palms against his chest and lifted.

The first downward stroke sent pressure through my clit and low abdomen. I set the pace as his face changed each time I took him deep.

He went still beneath me and let me use him.

“That’s it,” he said. “Take what you want.”

I rode him faster.

Shane held me more firmly, helping lift me without taking control. His hips began to meet mine in a rhythm that made the bed shift beneath us.

I bent and kissed him.

He rolled us without breaking contact.

I landed on my back with Shane between my thighs. He stopped before thrusting again.

“Is this good?”

“Yes. Keep going.”

He drove into me.

The new angle sent his cock deeper. I wrapped my legs around his hips and pulled him closer while he kissed me, then my neck and breasts.

His tongue circled one nipple. I clenched around him.

Shane groaned and lifted his head. “Do that again.”

I clenched deliberately.

His next thrust hit the spot that made my vision blur.

“Right there.”

He repeated the angle.

I reached between us and rubbed my clit while Shane kept the pace. His attention stayed on my face as I touched myself.

The pressure gathered again.

“Don’t stop,” I said.

“I’m not stopping.”

He thrust harder.

The second orgasm broke through me with a sharp cry. My pussy clenched around him, and Shane’s rhythm faltered.

He buried his face against my neck.

“Cassidy, I’m going to come.”

“Yes. Come inside me.”

His hips drove forward once, twice, then held deep.

Shane groaned my name as he came.

I kept my legs around him until his breathing slowed. Then he raised his head and searched my face.

“You’re all right?”

“I’m very all right.”

“That sounded almost enthusiastic.”

“I screamed your name.”

“I didn’t want to assume.”

I laughed and pushed damp hair away from his forehead.

Shane kissed me once, softer than anything that had come before it.

He eased out of me and disappeared into the bathroom. He returned with a warm washcloth, cleaned me gently, then dropped it in the hamper and climbed back onto the bed.

I reached for my tank.

He caught my wrist. “You don’t need that yet.”

“I’m getting water.”

“I’ll get it.”

“You just performed several strenuous activities.”

“So did you.”

“I was on top for part of them.”

“Exactly. You deserve room service.”

Shane returned with two cold bottles and a packet of salted crackers from the kitchenette. He handed me the water first.

I drank half of it before he opened the crackers.

“Aftercare crackers,” I said.

“They’re sophisticated.”

“They came from an SBS emergency snack kit.”

“That explains the seductive packaging.”

He held one out.

I took a bite.

Shane ate the other half, then settled beside me beneath the sheet. I rested my head against his chest while his fingers moved through my hair.

Outside, the Atlantic rolled beyond the cottages. The relief agent’s muted footsteps crossed the front path once, then faded.

“I have to call Sloane in the morning,” I said.

Shane’s fingers paused, then resumed.

“You should.”

“I’ll tell her the handoff was complete before anything happened.”

“It was.”

“She may change the coverage arrangement.”

“Will she fire you?”

“I don’t know.”

His arm drew me closer. “I don’t want this to cost you your job.”

“Then don’t ask me to hide it.”

“I wasn’t going to.”

“I didn’t think you would.”

Shane kissed the top of my head. “I’ll answer anything she asks me.”

“She won’t need sexual details.”

“That’s probably wise. I’d make you sound extremely impressive.”

I lifted my head. “You’re enjoying yourself too much.”

“I’m naked in bed with the woman who dragged me through a restaurant and then rode me until I forgot my own name. My evening improved.”

“You remembered my name.”

“I may have shouted it.”

“You did.”

“Then my memory remains excellent.”

I smiled and settled against him again.

His palm slid down my back.

“Cassi,” he said.

I lifted my head.

He hesitated. “Is that allowed?”

Nobody at SBS called me Cassi. My family had when I was younger, before uniforms and boarding teams and years of making sure nobody mistook softness for weakness.

I swallowed.

“Only when I’m not wearing an earpiece.”

His smile spread. “I can follow that rule.”

“You’d better.”

“You make the rules memorable.”

I rested my cheek over his heartbeat.

Dawn would bring the threat, the concert, and the conversation I couldn’t avoid.

At seven, I’d call Sloane. By breakfast, someone else might be wearing the earpiece at Shane’s side.
