Chapter Five

Buck

I had to go to DeLuca Enterprises today to go over some contracts. I tried to split my time between all of my businesses, with here and Linc’s being my chief priority. When I pulled up, I parked in my designated spot and headed straight to the elevator to my office. Once I stepped off, I nodded at our secretary, Rachel, and went straight to the office. When I walked in, Stacks was already in there, sitting behind my desk like this was his shit.

“Nigga, the fuck you doing in my shit when yours down the hall?” I spat as I knocked his feet off my desk and onto the floor.

“Waiting on yo’ slow ass to get here.” He got up. “How much shit you gotta do here today?” He took a seat on the opposite side of my desk as I took my seat.

“I got a few contracts to go over and some meetings to set up. Why? What you got going on?”

“I need to go holla at Gator. Nigga been bucking Kilo for a minute and I guess he thinks shit sweet because we ain’t ran up on his ass yet.” I nodded because I knew exactly who and what he was talking about. Gator’s bitch ass thought because he was Kasha’s baby daddy, he had special privileges. She may have cared about that nigga, but I didn’t. I already didn’t want to work with the nigga, but Kilo was trying to do Kasha a solid and keep his money coming in while he was on the inside. It’s not like we weren’t making sure he was straight, but it wouldn’t be Kilo if he didn’t do shit his way.

“Aight. Let me get through with this shit first and I’ll slide with you.”

“Bet. But check it. Wassup with the new bartender?” he asked with a smirk.

Returning his smirk, I said, “Ain’t shit. Why?” For some reason, I was hoping he didn’t say that he hit. Usually, I didn’t give a fuck about shit like that, but Goldie had a different effect on me I couldn’t explain.

“I tried to holla at her fine ass, but she turned me down like I was an ugly ass nigga or some shit, but then I noticed how y’all looked at each other. You plotting?” He smirked.

“You need to stop hitting on my damn staff. You can’t stay out Kasha’s face no matter how many times she shuts the shit down.” He waved me off. “As for Goldie―you late. I hit a few weeks ago. The night we had that meeting with Maseo. She was at the bar. That’s who I left with,” I informed.

“You’on waste no time. Wait ’til Kilo hears this shit,” he guffawed.

Laughing at his antics, I finished up the business I was there to take care of and left out with Stacks in tow. While he hopped on his bike, I got into my car with him trailing me to Kasha’s spot that she shared with that bitch ass nigga. When we got there, Kasha’s car was in the driveway. That was unusual because she should’ve been at work by now. It was only a little after nine, but she was still usually there by ten. Taking the small stride, I walked the short distance from my car to the driveway. When we got to the door, Kasha was walking out.

“Buck?” She looked at me, then over at Stacks. “What are you doing here?” she asked, eyes scanning mine for clues.

“Business. You on your way in?”

She nodded. “I left my phone and came back to get it.”

“Aight.” She held my gaze for a second before placing her eyes on Stacks. “I’ll see you at the bar,” I said dismissively.

“Lemme get that for you, beautiful,” Stacks flirted as he opened the door for Kasha then closing it after he said something to her I couldn’t hear.

Shaking my head, I let myself in.

“Kash! Why you left the door…” his words trailed off when he saw me and Stacks standing in his living room like a couple of bounty hunters.

“I’m not in the mood for all the pleasantries,” I spat. “The fuck is the rest of the money from the last three drops, nigga?” I cocked my head to the side, waiting for him to say something to piss me off.

“The fuck you tryna say?” he snarled. “I gave y’all all that nigga’s money,” he lied.

Nodding, I pulled my Glock out the back of my jeans. “Now, let’s try this shit again. I already asked the question, so all I need now is the right answer.” I wasn’t about to sit here and go back and forth with this nigga. He was gone answer my question or eat some hollow tips. Plain and simple.

“I don’t have it, but I’ll get it,” he lied.

“The fuck you mean you don’t have it?” Stacks spoke up. “You had the shit when you picked it up. The fuck you do with it?” We already knew he gambled the shit away at Vault. While we appreciated his business, we didn’t appreciate using our money to support your habits.

“I—”

“―lost it at Vault,” I cut him off. “Instead of using your own shit, you chose to use ours. That was dumb as fuck, if I must say so.”

“I can get it. I promise,” he pleaded.

“Oh, you most definitely are, and not from Kasha. You’re only breathing right now because of her and your kid, but trust, the moment she tells me she’s done with your bitch ass, I’m gone let my lil’ brother here fuck her while you watch, then I’m going to kill you,” I warned.

“And I’ve been wanting to fuck her fine, thick ass for a minute, so I’m gone make sure the show is worth it.” Stacks smirked. “Yo’ son gone be calling me daddy, too.” This nigga was dumb as fuck for that, but I knew he was serious as hell.

You could tell by the look on his face that he was pissed but knew better than to say shit.

“Nigga, you got a week, and that’s because I got shit to do. Next time I see you, you better have my brother’s money or Kash and Jace gone live lovely with the policy she has on your ass courtesy of DeLuca Enterprises.” I smirked because I’m sure he didn’t know that lil’ tidbit of information.

Without another word, I turned around and left. I noticed a nice Audemars sitting on the coffee table and picked it up.

“This some nice shit,” I voiced. “’Preciate you, homie.” I smiled as I pocketed his watch.

“Did you really have to take that nigga’s watch?” Stacks laughed. “He probably was gone sell that shit.”

“Not my problem.” I smirked as I got in my car. I hadn’t laid eyes on my mama in a few days, so that’s where I was headed now.

***

“Mama!” I yelled as I walked into my parent’s house. They owned an enormous estate on the outskirts of Cannon Hills. If you were back here, then you knew our family personally. You couldn’t just pull up to this muthafucka. I mean, you could, but by the time you made it to the gate, you’d be leaking.

I walked further into the house and still didn’t see my mama. I wasn’t about to walk through this big ass house. Going to the nearest intercom, I pressed the call button.

“Mama,” I called out.

A few moments later, her calming voice flowed through the speakers.

“Yes, Lincoln?”

Our mama was the only person who called us by our government names. She said she wasn’t like everybody in the streets, and she wasn’t going to address us as such.

“Where you at? I’m hungry.”

“Boy,” she laughed. “I’ll be there in a minute.”

Satisfied, I made my way to the kitchen to wait on my mama. While I waited, I called Kasha to check on things at the bar.

“Hey, Buck,” she answered.

“Wassup, Kash? Everything good there?”

“Yeah. A little crowd came through for lunch, but it died down. It’s still steady though,” she confirmed.

“Bet. That’s the shit I like to hear.” For some reason, my mind went to Goldie. I knew she was at work because I made it my business to know when she would be there. I don’t know why because I haven’t hit again and didn’t have any plans to do so.

“Uhm, Buck?” she hesitated. “Is everything good?” I knew what she was talking about, and she had absolutely nothing to worry about.

“Ain’t shit for you to worry ’bout Kash.”

“Okay. You coming in today?”

“Yeah. I’ll be there before I go by Vault. You gone be straight?”

“Yeah. I’ll be fine. See you then.”

I hung up with Kasha just as my mama walked into the kitchen. Getting up, I greeted her with a hug and a kiss on her temple.

“Where you been, lady?”

“In the solarium. I’m surprised you found the time to come by. It’s been what? Almost a week?” she smirked.

It wasn’t a secret that out of all of my brothers; I was the mama’s boy. I was the baby until Stacks brought his ugly ass along, so naturally I gravitated more to my mama so that I could get just as much attention as them other two niggas. I usually stopped by once a day or every other day, so me missing a few was totally out of order for us.

“I’ve been busy. Between your other two sons and your husband, they don’t let up off a nigga.”

“Lincoln, you in here snitchin’ like a lil’ bitch?” I turned around and saw Stacks swaggering into the kitchen where me and mama were posted up.

“Watch your mouth, Jackson,” mama warned.

Smirking, he leaned down and kissed her temple.

“The fu―what you doing here?” I asked, catching myself before mama knocked my teeth in my ass.

“This is my mama too, or did you forget?”

“Nah, nigga. We found you wrapped up in a blanket in the middle of the woods.”

“Ma?”

“Lincoln, stop your shit. Jackson, you know you got here just like the other two. The good old-fashioned way,” she revealed, causing my stomach to churn.

“And we can be practicing now if you two cock-blocking ass lil’ niggas leave me and my wife be.”

I frowned in the direction of my pops because thinking about his old ass doing some perverted shit to my mama made me sick to my stomach.

“Man, I’m gone. This nigga really knows how to fuck some shit up,” I grumbled the last part, otherwise my locs would’ve been knocked loose.

“Yeah, I’m gone. Y’all can be nasty in peace.” Stacks was up and following me down the hallway.

“So, y’all not eating?” mama asked.

“Man, my stomach hurts now.” I turned around and kissed my mama on the temple, followed by Stacks.

“Buck, don’t forget about the meeting with that potential client tomorrow,” Pops voiced.

“Yep,” was my response before I got in my Navigator and left.

***

I had another fight at Vault tonight. It was some amateur shit, but it still brought in money. The night was gradually coming to an end, so I started doing my rounds so I could grab my cut and head the fuck out. On the way to my office, my phone rang. Taking a look, I saw it was Kilo calling.

“Wassup, bro?” I greeted.

“Ain’t shit. Stacks told me y’all started that job,” he spoke in code.

“Yeah. It’ll ready in a week whether it’s done or not.”

“Bet. How’s shit otherwise?”

I gave him the rundown on his businesses. He was in the process of opening a dispensary and I needed to meet with them Thoreau niggas so that we can build that alliance. They had weed farms, and they were just across state lines. That shit would come in handy if we could get our hands in that.

“Aight, aight. Sounds like y’all got shit under control.”

“Nigga, when have we not?” I frowned like he could see me.

“Lincoln?”

“Franklin,” I countered.

“Whatever, nigga. How shit working out with ol’ girl you hired?”

Just the mere reference to Goldie had my dick swelling. She must have some kind of voodoo pussy because I can’t shake this damn girl, no matter how hard I tried.

“Buck!” I heard Kilo calling my name, breaking me from my trance.

“Yeah, nigga. Damn. The fuck is you yelling for? Make me call the warden on yo’ ass.”

“Yeah, aight. You ain’t answer the question though. How’s it going?” he asked again.

I ran the whole situation down with me and Goldie down and I even explained how I was feeling about her now. I knew I couldn’t tell Stacks this shit because he would clown me, but Kilo was my big brother, and I confided in that nigga about everything. He’s the only one that knew what really went down with my ex, Joi. Bitch was a dirty cum-bucket that used me as a come-up, for her and her jackboy boyfriend. Bitch had me treating her like a Queen for two years just for me to find out that she was taking everything that I was giving her and giving it to that nigga. When I found out that they were setting me up to get robbed, I let them think their lil’ plan was gone follow through. She was with me at Vault, and I was getting ready to close. I usually have my people stick around, but I assured them I was good. She lied about having to go to the bathroom and I went into my office. When I heard the nigga walk in, I didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger. I made sure I didn’t have my silencer attached, because I wanted Joi to hear the shot. Just like I thought she would, she ran toward the office, thinking I was the one that was shot. When she came inside and saw it was me holding the gun, the tears immediately started. I didn’t want to hear shit. I didn’t care why she did it. I just knew that I wasn’t gone give her or another bitch the opportunity to play with me again. I killed her ass right there and got rid of their damn bodies. I played the part of the heart-broken boyfriend and all. In actuality, I was. I loved her and she fucked me over. I hope she and that nigga are rotting in hell as we speak.

“Leave it to you, to fuck another random and caught feelings,” he laughed.

“Fuck you. I’ain say shit about feelings. I said I couldn’t shake shorty,” I clarified.

“Same shit. What you gone do about it, though?”

“I’ain doing shit. Fuck that love shit. The pussy was good and all, but I’m good. Double-dipping gets you in your feelings and I’m good on that shit.”

“If you say so.”

I chopped it up with my brother a little longer before I finished up and took my ass home. I didn’t even feel like being bothered, so I turned all my phones off and drifted off to sleep with thoughts of Goldie going through my head.
