Chapter Six

Nicari

sometime later…

T oday was my day off, but Kasha called and said they needed me to fill in for Jazz. I had nothing else planned so making money didn’t sound too bad. The only downside was that I knew I would be working with Armani, and for her sake, she better hope I don’t bash her head in with a liquor bottle. While I got dressed, my mind wandered to Buck. He didn’t say much at work, unless it had something to do with the bar, but I would catch him looking at me, but that was as far as it went. I’m not even mad, though. After Aiden had a baby on me, I was determined to live my life carefree. Sleeping with Buck DeLuca has always been on my list, and now that I’ve scratched it off, I’m good.

Once I was dressed and ready to go, I grabbed my bag and headed to meet the rideshare. It was Saturday, so Mama and Keenan were home.

“Nic, you work at a strip club?” my little brother asked when I came into the living room.

“Boy, what?” I laughed.

“Keenan, what the hell you know about a strip club?” mama asked.

“I know Nic looks like she works at one.”

“Lil’ boy, I should put my foot in your butt because I feel like you’re slick tryna call me a hoe.” I smirked.

He shrugged, causing me to laugh at his bad ass

“I thought you were off?” mama asked.

“I was, but someone called out. You know I’m always the go-to when that happens.”

It was true. Even when I worked for Tony’s perverted ass, I was always the on-call person.

After saying goodbye to my mama and brother, I left in the rideshare and headed to Linc’s. When I got there, the parking lot was already packed. That meant that I wouldn’t be getting a break anytime soon, but the tips would make up for that. Getting out, I headed in through the employee entrance that was located in the back. Once I made it inside and put my things in the employee lounge, I left to go take my position at the bar. When I walked out, I ran right into Buck.

“Oh, my bad,” I apologized. He didn’t respond, but I noticed the way his eyes traveled the length of my frame, causing my cheeks to flush. Pivoting on my heels, I left him standing there and went to work.

The crowd was thick and all you could hear were crazy fans yelling at the TVs. The bar was just as crowded, so I got right into position and started fixing drinks. Even though I didn’t like Armani, I wouldn’t neglect my job and leave her hanging.

After about an hour, the crowd had somewhat calmed down, so I could finally take a break. I went to the far end of the bar where I usually posted up and leaned against the counter behind me. Looking up, I felt eyes on me and sure enough, Buck was talking to Kasha, but his eyes were on me. That was the thing that confused me with Buck. He was notorious for giving you the cold shoulder after he sleeps with a girl, but the way I always catch him looking at me, I could swear that he was feeling me. Maybe it was just wishful thinking. Tearing my eyes away from his, I pulled my phone from out of my back pocket to scroll social media. I saw yet another message from an unknown page, and I knew it was Aiden trying to reach out once again. I didn’t even bother to open it. I deleted it and blocked that page too.

“Goldie!” I heard the nickname that Buck gave me and looked in that direction. When I saw him walking my way, I felt like I was about to throw up. He stopped right before he got to me, and I swear the smell of his Versace Eros had my knees buckling and my stomach churning at the same time. “I got a meeting in a few and I want you to wait on us,” he instructed.

Before I could answer, Armani’s stiff bob wearing ass spoke up.

“Buck, I thought I always waited on you when you had meetings?” she voiced.

“Not anymore. Goldie is going to be my personal bartender from now on,” he announced, leaving me speechless.

“Are you fucking her?” she seethed.

The tension was thick, but the silence was loud as hell. The look displayed on Buck’s face terrified me enough to make me spill my guts right there on the floor in front of him.

“Arghh!” I hurled everything I had inside of me onto the floor. Embarrassment immediately flooded over me.

“Nasty ass bitch,” Armani seethed.

I cleaned my mouth as best as I could with the napkins that Kasha had come over and handed me.

“Are you okay?” she asked.

“Yeah. I’m fine.” Looking at Buck, he had an unreadable expression on his face. “I’m sorry about that,” I apologized. “Let me go get cleaned up before your guests arrive.”

“Nah. You can leave. I’on know if that shit is contagious or not. Go get yourself together and be ready for your next shift.”

Nodding, I excused myself and went to get my things so that I could go by Walgreen’s before going home. While I waited for my rideshare, I saw the guy that I knew was Buck’s brother. He was on a black motorcycle that had a fire flame on the side.

“Wassup, Goldie,” he spoke as he approached me. “You leaving?” he asked as he looked me over.

“Yeah. I don’t feel so good, so I’m taking the rest of the night off.” I saw lights approach, so I got up from the bench that I was occupying.

“Aight, be easy,” he said. I noticed he didn’t go inside until I got in the car, and it pulled off. Laying my head on the seat, I closed my eyes and prayed that this feeling subsided soon. Maybe some rest was what I needed, and I intended to take full advantage of it.

“Shit,” I grumbled. What I thought was just a twenty-four-hour bug turned out to be a positive pregnancy test. I was good at concealing the fact that I was still sick at work, but I couldn’t deny the fact that something was wrong. Mel put in my head that I could’ve been pregnant, but the thought never crossed my mind. I wasn’t too drunk to where I didn’t know that he wore a condom. I smoked a blunt with him, but I don’t recall any slip ups.

“This can’t be happening,” I blurted, with my sister standing beside me.

“Well, those bright ass lines say otherwise. I thought you said y’all used protection,” she asked.

“We did.” I was still trying to wrap my mind across the fact that I was pregnant and by Buck DeLuca, of all people.

“Maybe you were too into it you didn’t realize that he didn’t put one back on. Didn’t you say he turned your ass every way but loose that night?” Just thinking back to that night caused my body to react. “See, that’s how you got yourself into this situation.”

“I don’t remember him going into me unprotected,” I countered.

“Then the condom had to break,” she spoke.

That thought never crossed my mind. That could be the only explanation.

“You got to tell him,” she insisted.

“What am I supposed to say, Mel? Oh, hey Buck. Remember the night we had sex? Well, yeah. I’m pregnant, and it’s yours.” I frowned.

“That’s exactly what you say.” I left her standing inside of the bathroom and went back into her room. “Listen, I know this is not what you expected and whatever you decide, I’ll be behind you a hundred percent.” She pulled me into a hug and comforted me. I was scared as shit to tell this man that I was pregnant. He was already an asshole, so I can only imagine how he’d act if I told him I was pregnant. He would definitely think I was plotting on him.

“He’s going to think that I was trying to trap him. Shit! I’m going to lose my job.” I panicked. If I had this baby, I needed to be able to work so that I could take care of it.

“And I’ll beat his ass. He pursued you. Not the other way around. If he doesn’t want to support whatever decision you make, then fuck him. I’ll be your baby daddy.” She smiled.

“Thanks, sissy.”

“Here. Take my car. I’ll stay here until you get back.”

After freshening up and getting my nerves together, I took my sister’s keys and headed downtown where Buck’s condo was. When I got there, I pulled into a visitor’s spot and went inside. I knew I couldn’t just go up, so I stopped at the receptionist desk.

“Good evening,” the older man greeted.

“Uhm, hey. I came to see Buck,” I announced.

He looked confused for a second. I didn’t know if it was because he didn’t know who I was talking about or the fact that I was in the lobby asking for Buck.

“Mr. DeLuca isn’t in. You can wait over there until he comes in if you want.” He offered.

Nodding, I went to the couch that was lined against a glass wall opposite the elevator. I got comfortable and played the waiting game. I didn’t know how long he was going to be. I’m glad I brought my iPad so that I could get some reading done. Nek Mills just dropped the second book in the , and I heard Jules was bae.

I was getting into the story when I heard the doors open for like the millionth time. This time, the person I was waiting on had finally arrived, but he wasn’t alone. His eyes pinned me with a murderous glare that made it hard for me to swallow the lump that had already formed in my throat. The girl was following so closely behind him that when he came to an abrupt stop in front of me, she bumped into his back.

“Oh, sorry,” she giggled, before giving me a nasty look when she noticed me.

“Goldie, the fuck you doing here?” he quizzed with his face still twisted.

“I—uhm. I came to talk to you…alone.” I looked at the girl. When I said that, she stepped up and looped her arm into his.

“Aye, watch out,” he snapped, looking down at the girl.

“I’on know why you poppin’ up at my shit, but I’on do the pop-ups, or backtrack. Your pussy was good and all but it ain’t gone get me to wife you, but I’ll definitely let you suck my dick from time to time,” he had the nerve to say.

With a frown on my face, I grabbed my bag. I had to laugh to myself to keep from knocking the locs out this nigga’s head.

“Nigga, yo’ dick ain’t all that. I ain’t tryna fuck yo’ weak ass again,” I emphasized. “I came to tell you I was pregnant, but fuck you.” I bumped his arm with my shoulder on the way out. I can’t even be mad at him, but he was gone realize that I ain’t them other bitches. Fuck him. I’ll go send this baby back to Heaven’s daycare and go about my muthafuckin’ business.
