Chapter 2

CHAPTER TWO

SKEETER

The sun was rising as I let myself in through the window at Rory’s, quietly making my way through the stupidly big house towards the stairs. I halted when I heard footsteps coming towards me from the kitchen, relaxing when Caden appeared with a scowl on his face.

“You can use the fucking door, you know?”

“I’d rather not run into your mother,” I said bluntly, glancing at the stairs. “Is Rory in bed?”

He rolled his eyes but nodded. “I think so, I only just got home myself. Mom’s not even here.”

“Your mom might be a decent parent, but she’s still a rich bitch with zero understanding for the other side of the tracks.

I don’t appreciate her treating me like one of you stupid pricks.

I don’t need the birds and the bees talk, or her making assumptions about who I am as a person,” I grumbled, tension lining his face.

“She’s just worried about Rory.”

“No, she’s worried I’m going to give her a bastard grandchild and then run off and leave her to deal with it. I’m glad she gives a shit about Rory, but she can stay out of my business with her.”

I’d keel over and die if I ever knocked anyone up, and the thought had freaked me out a little bit, I couldn’t lie. The last thing I needed was a damn baby.

“Mom didn’t mean—”

“She did, Holloway. Your mom thinks I’m a good for nothing piece of shit,” I said as I turned towards the stairs, starting to walk up them.

“She just doesn’t know you. We see you on TV all the time being arrested, so what do you expect? You’re fucking someone she sees as her own kid, dude,” he answered, but I ignored him and headed up to Rory’s bedroom, letting myself inside.

She was curled up in a tight ball, her brow creased with worry even in her sleep.

I studied her for a moment until she let out a whimper, and I sighed before stripping down to my boxers and climbing under the covers, wrapping myself around her. Her whole body tensed for a moment before she nuzzled into me, her face pressing against my throat as she snuggled as close as possible.

Being someone’s security blanket was a little jarring when I was usually the reason someone needed comfort, and I closed my eyes as I soaked it in. It had been a long time since I’d allowed myself to get close to someone like this, and despite knowing it was a bad idea, I couldn’t help it.

My hand slid up the back of her shirt, her skin warm, and I was almost asleep when she spoke. “Skeet?”

“Hmm?”

“Did you break in again?”

I chuckled, my dick jerking to life as her lips moved across my throat. “I did.”

“I thought you hated me after yesterday.”

I frowned, pulling back to look down at her. “Why?”

“Uh, because Josie was kind of an asshole,” she cringed, making me feel a little bad.

She’d spent the night thinking I was blaming her for that?

I cupped the side of her face, my thumb stroking her hair near her temple. “Baby girl, it’s impossible to hate you. Trust me, I’ve tried.”

That made her smile, and as much as I wanted to stay in bed all day, I couldn’t.

“You want to come to the Shed and watch some fights today?” I murmured, her face lighting up.

“Can I fight?”

“You can spar with the kicker bitch, but the girls only have training today.”

“Her name is Mule.”

“No, it’s not. It’s Ashlynn Bordeaux. She’s eighteen and lives in the Heights. You went to Hawthorne Heights High with her,” I answered casually, earning a raised eyebrow.

“Why do you know all that but act like you don’t know her at all?”

“I don’t care enough to associate her with a name. She’s just the bitch that fights with her legs in my cage. I background check everyone that walks through my door,” I replied.

“I didn’t know her name was Ashlynn.”

“You guys weren’t exactly friends at school from what I gathered. You’re a bit of a loner, you know?”

“I’m aware,” she said dryly, draping a leg over my hip and leaning closer to kiss my neck. “Will I get you in trouble for being at the Shed?”

“I guess we’ll test Slash’s truce, won’t we?” I joked, grabbing a handful of her ass and squeezing. “Go shower so we can eat breakfast and go.”

“I showered before bed,” she said as she nipped my earlobe playfully before rolling me onto my back and straddling me. “You seriously just came over this morning to see if I wanted to spend the day with you?”

“We’re not going anywhere if you keep this up,” I warned, sliding my hands up her thighs to her hips, thrusting up against her slightly.

“We can fuck later,” she winked, leaning down to kiss me, letting out a squeak as I fisted her hair and kept her in place to kiss her harder. I was so fucking horny, but she was right. We could fuck later.

If I wanted my crew to get used to her being around, I had to prove to them that she wasn’t going to distract me from crew business.

“Later,” I promised against her lips before pushing her back. “I want that fancy breakfast again.”

She laughed, climbing off me and making her way towards the closet. “I can arrange that.”

We got ready quickly, and I was happy to find Caden sitting at the kitchen table with a feast spread out for us as he motioned to the chairs across the table from him.

“I assumed you’d want breakfast.”

“You assumed correctly,” I grinned, dropping into a chair and starting to pile up a plate, tapping my fork on Rory’s plate when she placed some toast on it. “Hey. I want to see some eggs and bacon on that.”

“I’m not hungry.”

“If you want to spar today, you need to eat properly. Can’t have you passing out,” I warned, and Caden groaned.

“You’re letting her fight again?”

“No, but some of the guys are fighting today and I figured when they’re done, maybe she’d want to train a little with her friend,” I answered, shoveling food into my mouth to end the conversation. I didn’t have time for rich boy whining this morning.

“Can the guys and I come then?” he asked tensely, and I stared at him as I chewed before rolling my eyes.

“Fine, but you and your buddies need to stay out of the way though.”

“Can I spar?”

I grinned, downing a mouthful of coffee to wash my breakfast down before answering. “All of my fighters would put you on your ass, man.”

“If you think I’m a bad fighter, isn’t it a good thing to get me to—”

“You’re not a bad fighter. I know you and your boys can hold your own, but you’re not trained like my guys. Throwing you in a cage with them will only get your pretty face beat to shit.”

“You think I’m pretty? Aw, thanks, dude,” he teased, glancing at Rory. “Show us some of your scrappy moves then.”

“You want me to teach you how to fight like Heights trash? Whatever will your mom think?” she laughed, giving me a sly glance. “You could make bank off them, you know? Can you imagine the betting pool if you hosted fights between street rats and rich boys?”

“Not worth it, trust me,” I said dryly.

“It’s not like I’ll rat you out to the cops,” Caden huffed.

“You might not, but your mom will want answers on why you’re half dead and in the hospital,” I said bluntly, finishing my coffee before returning to what was left on my plate. “I’ll see if someone wants to spar with you guys. I assume you’re bringing all three of your besties?”

“Maybe. Ty will come, but I’m not sure about Luke and Jense.”

“Why? Jensen loves to fight,” I pointed out, and Rory sighed.

“I was at Jensen’s yesterday when Luke called to say Karen was being a bitch, so Jensen dropped me off here and went to his place. No idea what happened after that, I haven’t heard from them.”

“I’ll make them come. Luke needs to get in the cage and throw some hands, that should fix him.”

“He needs to move out of his mom’s,” Caden said with a huff, texting who I assumed was Tyler. “I offered for him to stay here, but he won’t take it.”

“He needs to toughen up,” I muttered, annoying Rory as I tapped on her plate with my fork again. “Eat.”

“Don’t tell me—”

“Shut up and eat, Aurora, or you can forget about coming with me today,” I said sharply, snatching her fork and scooping up some of her eggs. “Come on, open for me.”

She hesitated before doing as she was told, closing her mouth around the food as I fed her.

“How do you get her to do as she’s told?” Caden grumbled, earning the stink eye from Rory as she ate, accepting another mouthful of food as I kept feeding her.

“I tread the line of scaring her, while exciting her. She knows if she’s a good girl today, I’ll fuck her into oblivion later,” I said seriously, smirking at him. “Just means you’re not fucking her right.”

“Eat shit,” he scowled, getting to his feet. “Don’t leave without me. I’m going to shower.”

“Don’t jerk yourself in there for too long then,” I joked, and he flipped me off on his way from the room, leaving us alone for five minutes.

Rory tried to take her fork back, but I tsked her and put more food on it for her. “Open.”

She glared at me but opened her mouth, accepting the fact that I was going to feed her until it was all gone.

I kind of liked feeding her. She couldn’t argue with me if I kept shoveling food into her.

Rory

The Shed was pretty busy for first thing in the morning. Fighters were wandering around warming up or talking, some people were already drinking at the bar despite it only being eight in the morning, and I could hear Slash yelling at someone in the office.

Diesel looked up at us as we approached, a smile on his face. “Hey. Thought I heard the Corvette. What are you doing here?”

“She’s here to play with her friends between the guys’ fights. Holloway and his boys are on the way too,” Skeeter said as if it was a playdate among children, his eyes on the office. “What’s he already pissed off about?”

“No idea, he should be celebrating. The Demons got massacred last night,” Diesel muttered, wincing when he remembered I was standing there. I acted like I hadn’t heard him, glancing around the room to see if I could spot one of the girls.

So far, it didn’t look like they were here yet.

“Who attacked them? I haven’t heard shit,” Skeeter said with surprise.
