22. Gavin

TWENTY-TWO

GAVIN

Thanks to Josie, planning a party for Penny was easier than I expected it would be. We got home from dinner and I immediately called my mom and asked for her help. Within moments, she was in full party-planning mode. And since Penny’s birthday was on a Sunday, which was our regular family day anyway, the timing was perfect.

Now, I was talking to Penny’s sister, who’d been smart enough to slip me her phone number before she left town on Sunday.

“You okay with that?” I asked Maize. “I can choose a different flight.”

“It’s fine. And your parents don’t mind? It’s a lot to ask.”

“You’ll understand as soon as you meet them. My mom’s never met a stranger, and she’s excited about this. My youngest brother Bryce said he’ll get you from the airport. You can have Josie’s room Saturday night.”

I was flying her into the smaller, more local county airport on Saturday evening. She’d have to fly out late on Sunday evening so she could get back to classes and her upcoming finals, but so far, everything was going according to plan.

Josie and I would take Penny over to the ranch on Sunday morning, she’d be surprised as hell to see her sister and meet my family, and weather permitting, get her first horseback riding lesson.

But if Josie thought she was going to be the one to give that to Penny, I’d be having a talk with my daughter. That gift was going to be all mine.

Well, along with flying out her sister.

“All right, then. Call or text if anything changes, okay?”

“Will do, Maize. Take care.”

“Take care of my sister, and I’m taken care of.”

We ended the call and right as I was getting ready to set down my phone, it dinged with a text.

Penny

Any chance I can stop by for a second?

Penny could stop by anytime, for anything, for however long she wanted.

Meet you on the porch.

I threw on my coat and slipped into a pair of beat-up and worn tennis shoes. By the time I was on my porch, she was already bundled in her coat and at the end of her driveway.

I laughed to myself as she jogged over, planting my feet on my porch so I didn’t rush to meet her. By the time she jumped up the last step to the porch, her cheeks were flushed from the cold and there was a look on her face I knew far too well.

“I wanted a kiss,” she admitted, without fanfare, with no shame. “Is Josie asleep?”

“Passed out for a while. Come on in.”

“It was just a kiss,” she said, but I grabbed her hand and pulled her inside.

Like last night, she ended up against a wall, and I kissed her as I toed off my shoes, then shoved the sleeves of my coat so it could fall to the floor.

As we kissed, exploring each other’s mouths with our tongues, I unbuttoned her coat and pushed it off, too.

“Gavin.” She sighed against my mouth. “We don’t have?—”

“I want,” I groaned against her mouth and pulled her toward me so she could shuck off her own coat. “Couch?”

“Yes,” she breathed into my mouth and thank God she’d texted first because I’d been debating. Invite her back over, or give her space?

Dinner had been an event, from walking in and seeing Ryken looking at her like he wanted to take a bite out of her for dinner, to Josie’s perfectly demanding invite to the ranch, things were only getting better.

We stumbled to the couch, grabbing and grasping for each other as she kicked off her boots. “I should wear easier shoes to get out of,” she muttered as she tripped over the second one to go.

My body was heated, my erection pulsing against the zipper of my denim jeans I hadn’t had time to get out of.

Josie had yawned in the short car ride home, declared herself tired, and insisted that she was too tired for a bath.

She’d be out all night, so there was no worry about Penny and what we were currently doing.

I moved to the couch first, the chaise sectional again, but this time, I didn’t sit.

I brought her down with me until I was sprawled on the couch and Penny was again straddling me, but this time, she lay on top of me.

Her hair was down, and it brushed against my cheek as she fell and then my hands were beneath her cropped sweater, brushing up her sides.

“Yes,” she rasped against my mouth and her body began moving. “Gavin, please. Let me take care of you tonight.”

I stilled my body and my hands, brushed hair off her cheek, and pushed her back so I could see her. “We don’t...”

“I want. I want to make you feel good like you make me.”

I wanted that more than I wanted my next breath.

“Please?” she asked, and she leaned up, pushing up the hem of my Kelley Construction work shirt until her hand was at my abs. Her finger trembled as she brushed over the rigid bulge of my erection, and I bit back a groan.

There was such need in her eyes, such desperation, and I had no doubt it was only partly because she was as turned on as I was.

Maize might have thought her sister was forced into a caretaker and giver role, and maybe she had been, but with the look she was giving me right then, I had no doubt that taking care of others was simply a part of who Penny was.

She gave without abandon.

I’d take it all.

As long as she learned how to equally receive.

I dipped my chin and nodded, and a luscious smile curled her full, wet lips.

“Kiss me.” I brought her head down to meet me, and I slipped my tongue inside of her mouth. While we kissed, there were groans. There was the rocking of bodies. I could have kept it like this, would have been thrilled this was all we did, but Penny went to the button of my jeans, flipped it open, and began tugging down my jeans.

We were fully clothed, writhing on the couch, and if she thought I was the type of man to allow her all the fun, she was dead wrong. I joined her hands between us, helped her so I could wiggle the waistband of my jeans and briefs and then fell into her hand.

“Oh….” She sighed and pushed off me, dipping her head so she could watch.

Her hand, so small and warm and soft , wrapped around my length and I cursed into her ear. “Do whatever you want, whatever you’re comfortable with,” I whispered. “I’ll like anything you do.”

My brain was scrambled, my hands stilled. I was so lost in the beautiful friction of her soft, gentle touch against my length I forgot for a moment what I was meant to do for her.

She tugged on my erection and I arched my hips. The move made me hit her jeans, which brought me back. With quick movements, I had her jeans opened, zipper down as I pressed my fingers beneath her waistband, glancing up at her.

Her eyes were hazy, alight with a blue flame swirling at the edges and her eyes wide with wonder. “Do you like this?”

“More than you could ever understand.” It was hell, the sweet, soft movements of her hand, but I wouldn’t rush her. We had more nights.

“Is this okay?” I asked and twisted my hand so I could work my fingers farther down.

“Yes.” She sighed. Her hips rolled to me, and my fingers brushed against her slick, warm center.

“Shit,” I groaned and pressed my mouth to hers. We worked in tandem, and I curled my fingers around her sex, around her core. She moaned deliciously as I pressed a finger inside of her, then brought it back out. We played each other with equal fervor, and the entire solar system could have exploded for all I’d notice about the world around me.

And then she was there, pulsing around my finger deep inside of her, crying out into my mouth. I was close but forced myself to hold on until her pleasure took her over the edge.

She climaxed, her entire body trembling with pleasure, and she buried her face in the crook of my shoulder.

“Gavin,” she panted, repeatedly said my name as I worked her to completion.

Only then did I wrap my hand around hers.

We moved together, pressing in, pulling hard, and with my own muted grunt of ecstasy, I came all over my hands, my stomach, and my shirt.

I grabbed the throw blanket and covered the mess, used it to wipe our hands off. Gross and disgusting, probably, but I’d have to do a load of laundry anyway.

Once the mess was cleaned and my stomach was covered, I wrapped my arms around Penny and held her against me. Her heart was racing. Mine was, too. She lay on top of me, boneless, satisfied, and brushed her fingers through my hair.

“I really only came over for a kiss,” she whispered.

I laughed and kissed her. “I think what happened was equally good. You okay?”

“Too tired to move.”

I was, too, and if it was possible to hold her like that all night long, I would have. But reality returned and settled on both of us. Eventually, Penny pushed up to sitting.

She brushed hair out of her face and smiled sleepily down at me. “I should get home.”

I reached out and slid my knuckles down her jaw. “I wish you didn’t have to. Someday,” I promised and meant every word.

Her answering smile was perfection. “Someday.”
