Chapter Five Add to My Abundance #3
“Of course. Absolutely,” he responds while still typing.
“Good. Any questions so far?”
“No, sir.”
“When it’s only us, you can call me Joe, if you like.”
“Thanks, I’d like that.” He smiles and his shoulders visibly relax.
Am I making him nervous?
“Now, for the main reason I asked you in here alone.” I glance at the door, envisioning Samantha on the other side, or maybe she did run home for that change of panties.
Damn! Now, I’m getting hard again. Shake it off, man.
I stretch my neck and stand, pacing to the window.
“Samantha is my life. She is my number one priority. If she calls, you put her through. If she shows up, you let her in. There is no reason, ever, to keep her away from me or my office. If she asks you for something, you do it.” I face him, meeting his gaze. “She. Is. My. Priority. Understand?”
His eyes are wide with surprise. “Wow.”
I chuckle. “Don’t get me wrong, this job, my family are important too. But none more so than my wife.”
His brow furrows. “I thought you weren’t married…yet.”
I wave him off. “Semantics.”
He laughs. “Okay. I get it. I’m on board.”
I think he’ll work out just fine. “Excellent.”
Samantha
I ring Joseph’s office line. “Sweetness.” The warmth in his voice spreads all over my body, and my skin ripples with goosebumps.
“Hey, Caveman,” I whisper, my heart reacting to the mere sound of my lovename on his lips.
“Don’t start,” he gently growls.
I shiver and shake my head. “I’m not. Honest. I hate to interrupt your meeting with Teddy, but your nine o’clock is here.”
“Thanks. When Teddy comes out, you can send them in.”
“Great. Thank you.”
“Always.” His animal magnetism comes through the phone line and wraps around me, heating me to my core.
I hang up on a sigh. My man. I can’t laze around in the visions he sparks. I’ve work to do. Movement in my peripheral reminds me I’m not alone. I walk over to the gentlemen waiting. “Mr. McIntyre will be with you in a moment. Can I get you something to drink while you wait?”
The tall, lanky one jumps to his feet, awkwardly sticking his hand out. “H…Hi. I’m Gregory…from…from robotics.”
I take his proffered hand, my brain lighting up. “Robotics. Wow. It’s great to meet you. I’d love to come down and see your lab sometime. That is, if it’s not an inconvenience. I wouldn’t want to stop the progress of genius.”
“Really? You’re welcome anytime.” The other guy in the ill-fitting suit and friendly smile offers his hand. “I’m Jackson.”
It’s funny they think they have to introduce themselves, like I don’t know who they are.
When it comes to next gen robotics, these guys are it.
They’re famous—at least in the tech industry.
Their combined brain power could probably light up both MCI towers alone.
I stop fangirling long enough to shake his hand.
“You’re Sam Cavanagh, right?”
“Yes.” I’m shocked. “How’d you know?” The thought that they know me from the rumor mill/betting pool has me wanting to slink away.
“Samantha.” Joseph’s voice shivers up my spine.
He’s walking toward us with Teddy in tow.
Joseph shakes Gregory and Jackson’s hands with a warm greeting.
“I’m sorry to keep you guys waiting.” His eyes lock on mine as he places his hand on my lower back.
“I see you met our robotics team.” His smirk tells me he knows how much I loved meeting them.
Gregory speaks up. “I was about to tell Miss Cavanagh—”
“Sam, please,” I insist.
“—uh, yes…Sam…” He looks between Joseph and me, finally settling on me. “We know who you are because you wrote an integral piece of code last summer that breached the gap in the robotics program, allowing it to become fully integrated into 1025D.”
I’m both delighted and confused. “1025D?”
Jackson jumps in. “That’s the name of a confidential project we can’t really talk about.” He smiles in apology.
“Huh, and what happened to 1025A, B, and C?” I tease, knowing they can’t tell me.
Jackson and Gregory exchange a knowing look. “That’s confidential,” they chime.
“Anyway, we’d be honored to have you visit our lab anytime.” Jackson looks to Joseph. “Pending your approval, of course.”
“Approved.” Joseph advises without hesitation. “Email Samantha the NDA beforehand.” His hand slips around my waist and squeezes lightly. “Gentlemen, please have a seat in my office. I’ll be right there.”
The robotics twin gods say their goodbyes and head off to Joseph’s office.
“Teddy, would you mind heading down to Starbucks and getting us two iced coffees? Get anything you want, as well. Oh, and one of their cinnamon crumble muffins.” He flashes me a smile.
It’s my favorite. I guess I’m in for a treat.
“Charge it to our MCI account. Call Samantha if you have any trouble.”
“Sounds good. I’ll be back.” Teddy dashes to the elevators.
“You cleared the floor rather effectively, Mr. McIntyre. Any particular reason?” I tease.
He pulls me into his arms, his forehead resting on mine. “To tell you I love you.” He kisses my head and smiles. “And to tell you I love hearing my robotics guys fawn all over your brain.”
I can feel the flush creeping up my neck. “Please. Those guys make me look like a kindergartner.”
He shakes his head. “Still. They were impressed with you. You have to come see me after you visit their lab. I don’t want to miss the all-cylinders-firing-lightshow look you’ll be bursting with.”
I giggle. “That’s quite a look. Deal.”
“I gotta go. Love you, Sweets.”
“Love you, Caveman.”
He moans and kisses me quickly before pulling away. “Have Teddy bring in my drink when he returns. Enjoy your muffin.” He backs away.
“Do you want me to save you some? And why don’t you want me to bring you your drink?” I frown.
He rakes my body as if I’m standing before him gloriously naked. “Baby, if you come into my office looking like that, sashaying like you do, neither I nor the robotics twins will be of any use. And no, I plan to eat my favorite muffin later.” He winks and leaves me throbbing in his wake.
Shit. Now I really need that change of panties.
