Chapter 14

Gideon could admit that he might have been a bit of a tyrant over the past week. Both he and Haze had, actually, so he was happy to have another night of relaxation and fun.

The night before with Glimmer had been needed, and he didn’t even realize it.

He’d been so focused on finding Trick and handling that problem that he forgot he was a newlywed and the vice president of a motorcycle club.

People needed him, and he needed to remember that, which was the point of the night.

Gideon convinced Haze to take a night off so they could host one of their infamous casino nights.

The Vicious Kings loved five things: each other, money, motorcycles, weapons, and gambling.

In that order. And they always did it big on casino night.

They hired blackjack dealers, fine ass waitresses who kept the drinks coming, and they even got slot machines.

As he looked around the compound, Gideon grinned.

“You sure are happy tonight,” Glimmer said.

She stood by his side and looked up at him with her puppy dog eyes.

It didn’t matter whether or not she was trying to convince him to do something or not.

Gideon felt like her eyes always held that cute innocence that had him ready to lay the entire world at her feet, and he would do it gladly.

He leaned down and kissed the top of her silky hair. “I’m always happy when I’m around you.”

She beamed up at him before she poked him in his side. “That might be true, but you’re excited to gamble.”

Gideon shrugged. “You might be right about that.”

He had his eye on the blackjack table. That was his vice, and he had a real lucky hand with it too.

“What are you going to start with?” Glimmer asked, and Gideon looked back down at her.

His brows furrowed when he noticed her tapping away on her phone. She had been doing that a lot since the night before. “Aye, you good?”

She didn’t even look up at him as she said, “Yeah.”

“Hey.” He grabbed her chin and forced her to look up at him. “Who you been talkin’ to?”

He hated to even ask her that question. The last thing he wanted was to come off as controlling, but he didn’t like how distracted she seemed.

Glimmer sighed and locked her phone before she shoved it into her sweatpants pocket. “My dad.”

“Everything okay?”

Glimmer sighed and leaned into him before she spoke. “I don’t know. He wants me to call my mom.”

Gideon’s thick brows hiked. He moved his locs away from his neck as he thought about what he wanted to say.

Glimmer told him about her relationship with her mother and how Camille had a big role in why Glimmer almost married Trick.

Gideon’s jaw clenched at the thought of her being married to anyone but him.

Finally, he smoothed her hair away from her face and looked into her brown eyes.

He studied every part of her face, from her glossy lips to her cute nose, to the dimple in her left cheek that showed even when she wasn’t smiling.

Her chocolate skin always looked so edible to him, which was why he leaned down and kissed her cheek before he asked, “What do you want to do?”

She shrugged. “I’m not really sure. I mean, she is my mom, and my dad keeps saying that she really wants to talk . . .”

Gideon didn’t like it, but he would support her no matter what she decided. “You know I’m here for you, right? I ain’t just here to stroke that pussy. I can help you with big decisions like this too.”

She smiled softly. “You think this is a big decision?”

“I do. I think your mom is a touchy topic, and no matter what decision you make, it can affect you.”

She thought about it, and her shoulders sagged. “You’re right.”

“I normally am. Gimme some suga.” She stepped up on her tiptoes and poked her lips out.

Gideon kissed her deeply. After a few seconds, before they could get too carried away, Gideon pulled away.

“Just make sure you let me know if you decide to meet up with her or some shit. I’m sorry, but I only trust one of your parents with you, and it ain’t her. ”

Glimmer playfully rolled her eyes and patted his chest. “Yes, daddy.”

Gideon backed her up against the nearest wall. “You know when you call me that I can’t control myself, baby.”

She giggled. The sound felt like home. He didn’t know how to explain it. He wished he could bottle it up and listen to it whenever he felt like it.

“Come on, bae. People are watching.”

Gideon heard catcalls and banter going on behind him from the Vicious Kings. He didn’t care. His wife suddenly had him wound tight, and only she could loosen him up.

“Fuck them.” He bent and kissed her neck, which pulled a moan out of her.

“Y’all are so cute, but get a room,” Kyomi said.

Gideon groaned and reluctantly pulled away from his wife. He looked down at Kyomi, who had a wide grin on her face. Reaching out, Gideon pinched her cheek. “Don’t you got a slot machine to sit at? Over here mindin’ my business.”

Kyomi cheesed up at him. “Being in y’all’s business is way more fun. Besides, I wanted to see if Glimmy wanted to hit the slots with me.”

Glimmer opened her mouth to respond, but Gideon beat her to it. “Sorry, lil sis. I need my baby at the blackjack table with me. She’s my good luck charm.”

Kyomi’s dramatic ass placed her hands over her heart. “Awww.” She looked at Glimmer. “Catch up with me later.”

“I will.” Glimmer blew Kyomi a kiss. Kyomi caught it playfully before disappearing into the thick crowd.

Gideon frowned as he faced his wife again. “You blowing other people kisses now?”

Glimmer giggled. “I didn’t take you for the jealous type, Gideon.”

“Not jealous. Territorial. There’s a difference.”

She snorted. “Might as well just pee on me then. Ain’t that what dogs do?”

Gideon’s brows hiked up. “You into that kind of shit?”

“Hell no. You better not ever piss on me.” Glimmer slapped his arm with a giggle.

Gideon was glad she clarified, because hell, if it put his scent on her and thwarted other niggas from getting at her, he would have definitely done it.

He meant what he said. He wasn’t really jealous.

He just didn’t want other people having access to Glimmer like he did.

It was that moment it hit him like a ton of bricks. He loved her ass.

Gah damn. I love my wife. He grinned and pecked her lips three times. Although he wanted to share his feelings with her at that moment, he decided to wait. Now wasn’t the time.

He grabbed her hand and pulled her up off the wall. “Come on. Let’s go win some money.”

Gideon guided Glimmer through the crowd.

When he stopped at the blackjack table, he sat down at the seat Haze saved for him and pulled Glimmer down onto his lap.

Glimmer leaned into him, and he wrapped his arm around her before he tapped into the game.

When the Vicious Kings gambled, they did it big.

“What we bettin’ on?” Gideon asked as the dealer dealt the cards.

“That big body custom joint you got out there,” Rome said with no hesitation.

Everyone at the table groaned. Glimmer looked around with curiosity dancing in her eyes.

“His bike?” she finally asked.

“Rome tries to bet on the same shit every time, girl. He been gunning for that bike G got out there.” Tiki rolled her eyes.

“Don’t know why. Lil guy ain’t gon’ be able to ride it. That bike there is for big dawgs,” Gideon joked.

Everyone chuckled. It was no secret that Gideon’s bikes weren’t meant for the average man.

“Yeah, but she would look pretty in my collection,” Rome argued.

“Aight, you’re on.”

Everyone’s brows raised in surprise. Gideon sat back coolly and snatched a drink off a server’s tray as she sashayed by. He took a sip as he eyed everyone as they looked at him in shock. After he handed the drink over to Glimmer so she could enjoy it, too, he asked, “What?”

“You never agree to bet on your bike,” Haze said, but he eyed the dealer the entire time.

He had bad trust issues, so his eyes always stayed on the dealer and made sure the nigga played fair.

No funny business would go down in Haze’s presence.

As if a nigga would be so stupid to play in Haze’s face in his domain.

Still, Haze was paranoid and made sure everyone around him was always on their shit.

Gideon kissed Glimmer’s temple. “I got my good luck charm wit’ me tonight.”

He watched the subtle tint of red streak across her ebony skin, which prompted him to kiss her again. He was obsessed with his wife and loved putting his lips on her whenever he could.

“Don’t go blaming me if you lose that pretty ass bike out there now,” Glimmer warned.

“Never. I’ll blame Rome.” Gideon grinned widely, and everyone laughed. “And if I win, Rome, you gotta get my girl a custom bike. Anything she wants.”

“Glimm don’t even ride,” Rome complained.

“I don’t give a fuck if her juicy ass never hits the seat of the mothafucka. She a queen, ain’t she?”

“Yeah.” Rome agreed.

“Then she need a bike.” His words were final. Whether he won that night or not, he planned on getting Glimmer a bike. She was officially a part of the family, and everyone had a bike in the Vicious Kings, even Kyomi’s scary ass.

“You didn’t have to do that,” Glimmer muttered as the table got active. She watched as cards were thrown around, and the club members at the table called out numbers and words she didn’t quite understand.

“I did. Now sit back and watch ya man win.”

Her smile was all he needed to make his first call of the night, and he knew without a doubt it was a lucky one.
