Chapter 13
The only sound in the compound gym was Glimmer’s heavy breathing and her weak blows to the punching bag.
They hadn’t been weak earlier. She started out strong, but they had been at it for so long that she was ready for a shower and a damn nap.
“That’s all you got for me, baby?” Gideon asked as he looked at her with a frown.
Glimmer stopped her attempts at attacking the punching bag. “I’m tired of this, grandpa!”
Although Gideon had been wound really tight over the past week, he managed a chuckle at her reference to one of their favorite movies, Holes.
Gideon swaggered over to her and pinched her chin. With a grin, he said, “That’s too damn bad.”
Although that was the line in the movie, Glimmer knew he was dead ass serious. She groaned. “For real . . . I’m tired, bae,” she whined.
“I know.” Gideon sighed. “But I need you up on game when it comes to protecting yourself.”
She nodded. Glimmer appreciated that he wanted her to know how to protect herself.
It reminded her of her father. Speaking of her father, he was on the same page as Gideon.
The harder she worked on learning to properly defend herself, the prouder of her he was.
She couldn’t lie; the moment she found out about there being a price on her head, Glimmer was ready to do whatever she could to stay alive.
But the way Gideon pushed her felt like a bit much.
Juke was no better. He encouraged Glimmer not to complain and to do as Gideon said.
She wondered when her father had started taking Gideon’s side, anyway.
“I don’t even leave the compound, bae. I think I deserve a bit of a break.” She pouted as she wiped sweat from her brow. Glimmer was never one to sweat, but over the past week, that had changed completely.
Gideon eyed her. She saw the stress lines all over his face. They made him look so damn mean. That wasn’t the man she knew though. It wasn’t the man she was falling for, so she reached up and smoothed those lines out until he smiled.
Gideon grabbed her hand and kissed the part of her palm that wasn’t wrapped. “Trick knows where the compound is, my love. Just because he hasn’t come yet doesn’t mean he won’t. He’s already proven to be a little slow in the head for putting a price on yours.”
Glimmer’s heart dropped, just like it did any other time she was reminded of Trick’s ill intent toward her. “I hate this.”
Gideon looked down at her lovingly for a moment. “Give me thirty minutes in the gun range, and we can relax for the night.”
She fought the urge to roll her eyes and expelled a long breath instead. The thought of a relaxing night with Gideon sounded perfect. Over the past week, if they weren’t doing some sort of training, he was out trying to find Trick with Haze and the rest of the Vicious Kings. “Fine.”
Before last week, Glimmer didn’t even know there was a basement to the compound.
She should have known because it used to be a family hangout spot back when she was a teenager, with a movie theater, bar, and a large hangout area.
Apparently, the Vicious Kings renovated the space into a gym with a gun range in the very back, complete with soundproof walls and an entire wall with ammunition and guns.
They walked toward the back of the basement, and Gideon selected a gun for her. She had no idea what kind it was, just that it was a different one than she’d used the other days. That was Gideon’s rule. He wanted her to get comfortable with all guns.
Inside the soundproof doors, Gideon handed her the gun.
Glimmer went through the motions of loading it and making sure it was ready to shoot.
She looked up at him frequently to make sure she did everything right.
Gideon grinned and nodded in encouragement.
She was a fast learner, so he didn’t need to step in and help her.
“When you get a head shot, we can be done,” Gideon told her.
Glimmer’s brow raised. “Is that all?”
He smirked. “You sound confident.”
She didn’t speak. What he didn’t know was while he was out running the streets with the Vicious Kings, she and the queens came down here and practiced shooting.
They’d all been a bit on edge since the shooting at the bar, so this gave them a bit of peace.
Since it had been a couple of days since she and Gideon had come to the gun range, he didn’t realize how good she had gotten.
She put on her noise canceling headphones and focused on the paper target that was already up and ready for her to go.
Tuning everything out around her, Glimmer got into the correct stance with her arms outstretched and the gun gripped firmly in her hands.
She took in a deep breath and squeezed the trigger.
She hit the target in the chest, but that was okay.
She rolled her neck before trying again.
She squeezed the trigger three more times before she stopped to let the paper settle.
When it did, she saw two holes in the head, and she beamed.
Turning to him, she batted her eyes and asked, “I’m hungry. Can we order some food?”
He chuckled as he eyed her incredulously. “You been practicing?”
Busted. She shrugged with a sly smile. “Maybe.”
It was no secret that the first couple of days they practiced, she had been scared as shit of the gun and wasn’t a very good shot. The queens helped her get over that, and she felt a lot more comfortable with the loud noises and the recoil.
“You know how much you turn me on?” he asked before he licked his lips.
Glimmer dragged her hand down the print in his gray sweats as she licked her lips too. “I think I do now.”
“What we gon’ do about that?”
A wicked grin spread across her puffy lips before she dropped down to her knees. This had also become one of their pastimes. Even when Gideon got in late from running the streets, Glimmer was always down to be woken up out of her sleep and get some dick. Gideon had the best, after all.
Once his veiny dick was free from his sweats and boxers, she wasted no time sucking him into her mouth. Her cheeks created the right amount of suction, and she moaned as her saliva built, dripping onto her hand that massaged his balls.
Gideon gripped the table behind him that held the gun she’d just used as he looked down at her. He moved her straightened hair out of her face so he could see her clearly.
“So fuckin’ beautiful,” he muttered. Glimmer moaned her response.
She loved pleasing Gideon. Honestly, she couldn’t believe they had gotten to this point.
She’d showed up there a complete mess and in a damn wedding dress, and now she had this man’s massive dick halfway down her throat, and she couldn’t get enough of him.
God did his big one putting them back in the same room again.
“Hol’ up, baby. Lemme get some of that good shit.
” With a pop, Glimmer took his dick out of her mouth and made sure to lick up the pre-cum on his dick before she rose to her feet.
Gideon growled as he lifted her and placed her on the table.
“Make sure that safety is on the gun,” Gideon instructed as he pulled her shorts off.
Glimmer handled the gun as Gideon dove headfirst into her pussy. She arched her back and moaned as she tried to focus on taking the rest of the bullets out of the gun and turning the safety on, just to be safe.
She tossed the damn gun aside once that was done and grabbed the back of Gideon’s head. Her fingers ran through his neat locs, and she admired him as he slurped her up like a damn ice cream cone.
“Shit, baby.” She thrusted up at his face, chasing her nut.
“Gimme that, Glimmer,” Gideon coached before he swirled his tongue around her clit.
He didn’t have to tell her more than once. Her orgasm overtook her entire body as she released her juices all over the table and Gideon’s beard.
“Fuck,” she uttered as her chest heaved. Gideon chuckled as he rose to his feet before he leaned down to kiss her. Glimmer’s vibrating phone in the hoodie pocket she still wore interrupted them. She groaned. “Ignore it.” She pulled him by his shirt so he was closer to her.
They kissed passionately but broke the kiss when her phone continued to vibrate.
“Just check to see who it is,” Gideon said as he kissed her neck.
She moaned and snatched the phone out of her pocket. She groaned again. “It’s my dad. He’s called three times already. I should answer.”
Gideon reluctantly pulled away as he held his hard dick in his hand. “Aight, man, but you owe me.”
He grabbed his pants and kissed her on the forehead. “I’ma go shower and order your food, so all your pretty ass needs to do is shower when you come upstairs, and then you owe me some pussy.”
She giggled. “I got you.”
Disappointment filled her as she watched Gideon leave the room. She sighed and tapped on her phone to call her dad back, but the phone vibrated again and showed a photo of her father.
Quickly sliding her finger over the screen, she answered. “Daddy? You okay?”
“Hey, baby. I didn’t catch you at a bad time, did I?”
Yes. “No. You okay?” she repeated. It wasn’t like him to call her repeatedly. Her mind automatically went to Trick, and suddenly, the wind felt like it had been knocked out of her. What if he had gotten to her father?
“I’m good. I’m good. Don’t you dare start worrying.”
She let out a sigh of relief. “Then what’s with the multiple calls?”
“I spoke to your mother.”
Glimmer clamped her mouth shut and allowed the silence to stretch between them.
She hadn’t talked to her mother since she first got to the compound.
The conversation didn’t exactly go well, so she hadn’t really had the desire to reach out to her, especially with her new number.
If her mom got ahold of her number, Glimmer was sure she would harass her about Trick or literally anything else she wasn’t pleased with.
“Okay . . .”
“Look, I ain’t ever sugarcoated shit with you, so I won’t start now. I think you need to talk to her.”
Glimmer moved the phone from her face and looked at it crazy. She had always thought she and her dad were on the same page when it came to Camille Delacroix, but apparently not.
“Why would I do that?”
“Because she asked about you, baby girl. She seems worried.”
Camille, worried about her? The thought seemed foreign, but she couldn’t lie and say it didn’t stir up some yearning within her. She always wished she and her mom had a better relationship. Maybe this time apart was the key to that.
“Why were you talking to her anyway?”
“I had to get on her about that shit with Trick and how she handled that situation. It took her some time to answer my calls, but she finally did. I think I got through to her. She wants to apologize to you.”
“Is that so?” Glimmer wasn’t so sure about any of this.
“Can you promise me you’ll at least give her a call?”
She sighed as she climbed off the table and grabbed her shorts so she could put them on. “I can promise I’ll think about it.”
“Nothing I can say to convince you to do this?”
Glimmer thought about it. “No, honestly.”
“Aight. You know I ain’t ever made you do no shit you didn’t want to do.”
That was true. She appreciated him for that.
“Anyway, how are you?” she asked as she walked out of the gun range.
She made her way through the home as she listened to her dad talk.
“Got stocked up on all my snacks today. This fine ass CO even snuck me in some tacos from that spot we used to go to. You remember?”
“My favorite spot?” Glimmer asked as she waved at Pup and Rome, who sat on one of the couches on the main floor watching a basketball game.
“That’s the one.”
“How you get her to do that, Daddy?”
“You really wanna know?” She heard the smile in his tone, and she grimaced.
“Uh, no, actually.” She took the last step to the second floor of the home. “Look, Daddy, I need to get in the shower and eat something. Can I call you back a little later?”
“Of course, and Glimmer?”
She rolled her eyes to the ceiling as she pushed open the door to her and Gideon’s room. She already knew what he was about to say. “Yeah?”
“Think about it, aight?”
“Got you. Love you.”
“Love you more.”
They disconnected the call, and she tossed her phone on the bed.
She heard the shower running and grinned.
She quickly undressed and walked toward the bathroom.
She was happy as hell that she could put the thought of calling her mother to the back of her mind and focus on the fact that she was able to catch her husband still in the shower.
She had a nut to pull up out of him, after all.
