Chapter 2
The guy I now know as Axel is watching me again. Always watching me. But why? He's never approached me since the day of freshman orientation when his long tan finger caressed my cheek. In my dreams, I can still feel the whisper of his touch sometimes.
-Scarlett Quinn (Sophomore)
Scarlett
My bitch cousin Janet ordered me to leave the house again. She's having a party, and she just knows that I'd be uncomfortable and wouldn't fit in. Fitting in with her people is not appealing to me at all. They suck—point blank. Assholes.
I make my way to the library, but not before spotting Axel at the cafe across from our apartment eating with his best friends, the boys they call the Fearless. Axel watches me leave, and he has since orientation. We’ve never spoken a word, but it’s like we have a weird connection or something.
Through the rumor mill, I hear of all his exploits on campus.
This boy is wilder than the long, curly hair on top of his head.
He's a man whore and not exclusive with anyone.
And they all have the same things in common.
Fit, beautiful, and never are they blonde.
I have never been a part of any of those categories, so why does he watch me with the intensity level he does?
We don't have the same classes, but he's always nearby as I arrive and leave each one. When boys talk to me, I don’t miss the way his jaw clenches and he stares, but he never approaches me or says anything.
For most of my life, I've been a boy whisperer.
Boys have always been better friends to me than girls.
Maybe he senses that and wants to be my friend?
Hell, I'm grasping at straws at this point because it can't be because he finds me attractive.
I've long wanted to confront him about it, but that's not really my forte.
Shy is not an adjective that would be used to describe me, but bold isn't either. I like to stick to the outskirts of confrontation. What would my exact words be to him anyway? Maybe I’d say, “Can I help you? Is it just me, or have you been following me for months now? Just so you know, you're giving me stalker vibes.” Yeah. It’s never happening.
Part of me thinks I'm delusional and just horny because he's hot, because he’s not the type of guy to give me a second look. I can’t help but think about him wanting me, and it’s romance torture, but to an avid bookworm, it’s everything.
I wonder what his deal is because what’s currently happening is killing me.

I think Scarlett Quinn broke my dick. It hasn't worked since last semester.
It's like he won't get hard unless I'm jacking off to visions of her.
When other girls are around, he's limp as a damn garden hose.
It's gotten to the point where I know that watching her from a distance will never be enough.
-Axel (Sophomore)
January couldn't get here fast enough; it's the longest I've been without seeing her, and I'm antsy.
She lives by herself now, in a shadier neighborhood near school.
Getting away from Janet must be a relief, but her being here means I'll get less sleep.
She's become my first priority, the first thing I think of in the morning, and the last thing I think of at night, and her protection is the key to my survival.
Scarlett arrived back at school this morning.
She spots me out of her peripheral and tenses as I jog by on my morning run.
Heat rushes through me at being so close to her again.
I'm like a shark circling his prey. My Scarlett lives her life like she's destined to be a wallflower, but a sunflower can't be called by any other name.
Her laughter is happiness. Her shade of blonde is leagues above every different variation out there.
The pouty heart shape of her mouth is meant for kissing, and her wide hips beg to be fucked.
The harder I try to avoid her, the more she drags me under.
Checking my jacket pocket, my smirk turns into a grin. The copy of her apartment key is safely in its place. I've made my decision, she will be mine...Phase 1 of my plan has begun.

Since the end of Christmas break, Axel has been different. He comes closer to me now, but since when would a billionaire's son be caught in my sketchy neighborhood?
-Scarlett (Sophomore)
He’s legitimately stalking me and it’s gotten out of hand.
One day, when I came home early from work, I smelled sandalwood in my bedroom.
He smells like that sometimes. Would Axel have broken into my apartment, though?
He's never done anything that made me feel less than safe, so I haven’t felt the need to go to the police.
Is it weird that I feel safer with him around?
It's not like he will ever talk to me or anything, and I sure as hell won't be the one to speak to him first. Why does his quiet perusal make my body feel like it’s on fire?
Both of my vibrators have dead batteries right now because of him. Is something wrong with me?
I've not had sex since before coming here to school. A few times, a guy has flirted with me, and then, without fail, they will avoid me like I've got the bubonic plague the next day. There is no way I can know for sure, but Axel has to be behind that. But why? He's driving me flipping bananas.
