Chapter 12

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Uh-oh, Scarlett, it looks like you've made an enemy out of Bambi. You better watch out. She may be tiny, but we've heard she's vicious when vexed. I can't wait to watch this forthcoming shit show. What team are you on? I am yet to be determined.

Axel

“You go to a lot of these parties?” Scarlett asks quietly. She's been acting different. Has she changed her mind? Fuck that. I'll get her to change it back.

But at least she's talking to me right now. “Oh yeah. All of them, really. I believe in working hard and playing even harder. How about you?”

“I've gone maybe three or four times.” She's turned toward the window. I don't like that she's turned away from me.

I'm not known for my subtlety. “Why are you acting weird?”

She amuses me as she gives me a side-eye. “I'm not. You are. Are you regretting our agreement?”

I scoff and answer honestly, although the agreement she's talking about has an expiration date, and mine ends in forever. “Hell no.”

“Then why have you avoided me all day?” She asks.

“I didn't.” But she's not wrong. I needed a little bit of distance.

Scarlett scares the hell out of me. She picks up her phone and shows me her messages.

My eyes catch on a long-ass thread she's got with a guy named Blaze—no need to show my possessive, crazy-ass side any more than I already have, though.

I'll break into her phone later. The thought makes me cringe, but not knowing will drive me up the wall, and asking her straight out is out of the question.

“Yeah, okay.” That is all she says.

We pull up to the rink, and she jumps out and heads towards the group before we even come to a complete stop.

It's like Scarlett can't get away from me fast enough.

To the left of me, someone whistles and then yells her name.

My heart pounds in my chest. Fucking Brody McDougall.

My fist tightens into balls at my side. Hitting him will only piss her off and drive the awkward wedge even further between us.

My teeth grind together, because for the second time in as many days, she lands in his outstretched arms. “Brody!” She smiles.

***

Axel is the perfect fake boyfriend. He's attentive and actually listens when I talk. This could be dangerous.

-Scarlett

Brody finally lets me go, and for once, it's nice to see him as the friend he's always been and not the guy who broke my heart.

I'm over Brody McDougall. “It's so good to see you again.” He puts his arm around me, and I introduce him to all my new people.

Most of them know him already. Axel is glaring at his arm, and at any minute, his temper could blow.

Axel finally looks at me with a raised eyebrow, beyond confused. Mine raises right back.

Not wasting any time, Axel comes to stand beside me. “Scarlett, we need to talk for a minute?”

I look up at Brody. “I'll see you inside, my old friend.”

Brody nods at Axel and bends down to give me a smooch on the cheek. “See ya later, kid.

Before Brody can bring his head back up, Axel grabs my hand, and we head back to his truck. I'm 5'8, so I'm taller than lots of girls, and even with my longer legs, it's hard to keep up with him. This boy is nearly running.

He opens the backseat door. Okay? Pushing me in as he follows quickly behind me.

Staring into space, he says nothing, his only movement is a slight tapping of his fingers on his thigh.

He does that when he's nervous or trying to control his temper.

Over the silence, I attempt to make conversation. “What did you want to talk about?”

Axel mumbles something unintelligible. Yeah, I'm not staying here all night. Sliding over, I make my way to the other door, but he grabs my arm. “Scarlett, don't go.”

“What's going on, Axel?” If he doesn't answer me this time, I’m done with this.

“If Brody hurt you so bad, why are you still such good friends with him? And when you need help, don't call Toby. Call me. I'm your person, remember.” His eyes search mine earnestly, and the protective guard he always has in place is down.

Placing my hand on his cheek, I answer honestly.

“If it means so much to you, then you'll be my first call.

And I don't know. Yes, Brody hurt me. He led me on and went out of his way to make me think that we stood a chance, but he was also always there for me when Janet or one of her friends went after me.

It's not okay what he did, but at the end of the day, he had my back, and that means something to me.”

Axel nods his head in understanding and gives me a light peck on my lips.

An electric current buzzes throughout my body.

“Listen, like I've already told you, I'm terrible at this, but I'll make it my own personal mission not to have you second-guessing my intentions.

You won't ever have to wonder what is between us.

And I hope you realize there won't be any other girls.”

I smile. That's sweet, so of course, I have to make a joke out of it. “Because the VD has to clear up first?”

He almost giggles. “Something like that. You want to make any such declarations?”

“I never go home with anybody. I don't see that changing any time soon.” I admit, shrugging.

“Cool. Sounds like two people not going home with anybody else.” He looks at me with his eyebrow raised. It must be his signature move.

“Exactly. Well, minus the else part in that sentence.”

He rolls his eyes. “We will be staying together most nights, Scarlett. I’ll let you in on a little secret, though. I won't fuck you until you're begging for it.”

My eyes widen. “Well, looks like you'll be fucking your hand then because this girl doesn't beg.”

He smirks. “Darlin' need I remind you that you've already begged for my mouth and fingers.”

“I'm having a hard time picturing you as the nerdy type.” I change the subject because he's not wrong. So, I retort with a laugh.

“Get to know me, but first, we need to set some ground rules for our relationship.” He licks my lips.

I hold out my hand. “Sounds like a plan. Let's shake on it.”

“I don't shake the pretty girl's hands. I kiss them instead.” Axel leans in, and I follow.

His kiss is sweet at first, almost reverent, but quickly turns hungry.

He sits me sideways on his lap, and we both fight for dominance.

He's clearly winning. Holding out my arms, I gently push him back.

His lips are swollen and pink and we're both breathless. “Wow.” He lets out slowly.

“Yeah. Ditto.” Every time we kiss, it's different but always unforgettable.

“How about Wednesday through Sunday we stay together? Mondays and Tuesdays are our “me” time. To chill with friends, study whatever.” He nibbles on my ear, making it very hard to concentrate on anything else.

Barely suppressing a moan, I answer. “Fair enough. But I think on those days there should be limited contact. Where will we stay?”

A dark look shadows his face, but he doesn't protest, only nods. “One week at your place, the next week at mine.”

“Do we act like we're really dating in front of everyone? Including your friends?” I hate myself for asking but I need to know.

He kisses my shoulder and rubs his hand up and down my thighs.

He waits so long that I don't think he will answer, but he does.

“Yeah, I won't be able to keep my hands off you in front of them.

You're driving me fucking mad, Scarlett.” His mouth finds mine, and our tongues speak with words we don't want to say aloud.

Words that we may never utter to one another.

He slides his hand inside my leggings and growls when he feels how soaked I am through my panties.

“You're such a good fucking girl. Open them wider for me, baby girl.”

Wanting to please him, I do as he asks me to. He pulls my leggings down past my knees, then cups my pussy. Teasing me, Axel takes his middle finger and rubs the length of my slit. “Please.”

His voice is strained. He takes the remainder of the bottom half of my clothes off.

“Go sit on my console and lean back.” When I comply, he spreads my legs and places his face in between them.

He breathes my scent in deeply, sighing with contentment.

I’m beyond embarrassed spread out like this but not enough to look away from his penetrating gaze.

“Scarlett, I'm going to eat you, and you better not come until I tell you to. Is that understood?”

My head bobs up and down in understanding because words are too hard right now.

He licks inside my folds and settles on my clit, sucking hard.

My breath hitches. Damn. He's only just started, and I'm close to coming.

He takes a finger and enters my pussy, and there is no holding back my moan of pleasure.

He's purposely going slow. “Axel, please!”

He smiles against my clit. “Ride my hand while I eat my dessert.”

He adds another finger, and I buck my hips, matching the movement of his hand thrust for thrust. He assaults my clit with his tongue like no one ever has. I'm close. “Axel, can I come, please?” He growls but says nothing, only smiles up at me, my wetness on his lips. “Please!”

“Come for me, Scarlett. Come all over my tongue.” He adds a third finger, and that sends me over the edge.

I damn near almost black out. He gently places me back on his lap.

He peers down at me with a sated smile and kisses my lips.

“Do you see how good you taste? Vanilla mixed with honey. My new favorite combination.” Putting my face in the crook of his neck so he can't see my blush and because I'm tired from my orgasm, we stay like this for a few minutes.

Then he puts my clothes back on and kisses me gently again.

“Want to head inside to the party?” He reluctantly asks.

“I'd like nothing more.” Lies. I'd rather be back on your console. I bite my bottom lip, reveling in his lust-filled gaze.

He helps me out of his Ford F-150 and doesn't let go of my hand as we walk into the roller rink. “Do you know how to skate, Scar?”

“I did when I was younger, but I haven't skated since I was like 12. You?”

“Never skated a day in my life.” He shrugs.

“You scared?” I tease.

He gives me a look. “I eat danger for breakfast, baby. I'm not scared of a shoe with wheels.”

He is nuts. “You're nuts.”

“Maybe.” He agrees and shrugs.

He tells the guy our shoe sizes and pays the cover charge. We sit to put on our skates. I noticed for the first time this evening that he isn't dressed up. “You didn't want to dress up?”

He's in dark blue boot-cut jeans and a plain black tee. “Nah. I never do. You look super cute, though.”

I lower my head so he can’t see me blush at his compliment. “Thanks. I get it from my mama.” Axel smiles at me and stands. His movements are surprisingly graceful. He reaches for my hand, and I allow him to pull me up. “I'm scared.”

“No reason to be. I've got you. I didn't let you fall earlier today, did I?” He asks confidently.

“Oh yeah. You were the perfect gentleman.” I answer, giving him a wink.

“If you saw what was running through my head, then you wouldn't be so quick to say the word gentleman.” He leans down and nibbles on my earlobe.

This time, I can't stop the blush from spreading across my cheeks or the pulse of my clit because of his words. Axel slightly stumbles but rights himself with hardly any effort at all. “Are you trying to seduce me with your pelvic sorcery?”

His answering laugh is contagious. Heads are starting to turn in our direction now. If Axel notices, he doesn't let it show. “Yes, I guess I am.”

“Nice try. But it's a hard pass for me.” I grin.

“Ouch, Scar. You've basically just deflated my fragile ego.” He fake shivers.

I roll my eyes. “Nothing deflates that big head with that huge ego of yours.”

Axel bites his bottom lip seductively. “Scarlett, I've got something huge, want to see?”

My mouth goes dry because, yeah, I do. I really, really do.

Please. But I don't get a chance to say anything because Bambi Hoover skates over and grabs his arm.

She's blonde and perfect. Her tits are perfect, and her face is like an angel.

Jealousy tightens its icy grip on me. “Hi, Axel! I'm so glad you're here!”

“Thanks, but we've got to meet up with our friends.” He gives her a half smile, then turns all his attention back to me.

“Axel?!” Bambi exclaims.

“Yeah?” He answers, still staring intensely into my eyes.

She leans over seductively. If he were looking, which he's not, he could get a good peak at all she's working with.

Her breasts are relatively big for her petite frame.

Whether God gave them to her, or a surgeon did, I don't know.

“When you drop her off with your friends, come find me. I want to finish what we started the other night.”

Bambi looks up at me smugly. Hopefully, my face gives nothing away.

What the hell does she mean by the other night?

My smile turns into a bright death beam of light.

Too bad it doesn't consume her. The thought of clawing her eyes out seems like a good idea.

Axel takes her hand and removes it. “You mean like Freshman year?

Nah, I'm not interested. Scar, you ready, babe?”

My heart skips a beat. I wasn't sure what he would say. “As ready as I'll ever be.”

Bambi huffs. “Stupid fat bitch!”

Axel swings around and gives her a menacing stare. I place my hand over his chest. “It's okay, Axel, I'd rather be a fat bitch than an ugly bitch.”
