Chapter 74 Henry
Chapter 74
Henry
He’s admiring the petite-size cakes.
Eighteen in total.
Who on earth would need all this dessert? The table is a mix of color and decoration. Chocolate. Vanilla. Red velvet. Pink frosting. Blue frosting. Flowers. Balloons. Strawberries. Simone drops folded cards in front of each dessert, and the guests disperse, sauntering around the table, reading the inscriptions.
Renée pulls Simone close to her side. “We had a busy day, but we wanted to do this.”
“Oh my gosh,” Rosalie exclaims as she moves from one cake to the next.
“They’re for every birthday of yours that I missed,” Jean-Paul says.
“We missed,” Renée corrects him.
Henry stops in front of a chocolate cake with his name surrounded in fondant stars, a sun, and moon, and Renée explains. “We owed you a replacement birthday cake, considering I dropped the one from the other night.”
He turns to her. “I’m the one who owes you. Lucy and I have been discussing it, and we’d like to help you out with the inn. We can’t let you give this place up.”
Leo overhears and saunters over. “Did you see your cake?” Renée asks. “There’s an anniversary cake for you and Penny. Today’s the day. We didn’t forget.”
“We have an announcement to make ourselves,” he says.
“Another wedding?” Renée holds her hands together in prayer.
Leo picks up a spoon and taps his glass.
