Chapter 76 Sienna

Chapter 76

Sienna

She feels a raindrop on her forehead and turns toward the sky.

She’s scared. The decision she made is huge. But she’s not scared to be alone. She will get used to the dark. As she continues to work through what’s happened and what’s to come, she watches Lucy and Henry, and she knows they’ll be okay too. What she’s scared of is the possibility that this might be her last time here.

Lucy makes her way over. She always knows when Sienna needs her.

“This isn’t the end. You’re coming with us every year. As long as that’s what you want.”

“I do. I do!”

Simone’s snapping pictures, capturing the moment, and it’s a good one: the two women embrace, years of memories stretched through their arms. The skies open up, but no one moves. They dance to Van Morrison and Kacey Musgraves. Leo scoops Penny in his arms and twirls her around. She’s smiling, but she could also be crying; the rain drips down her face, and it’s hard to tell. They’re surrounded by so much love. And Sienna raises her hands up to the sky. She’s ready for it.
