Chapter 94 Enzo

NINETY-FOUR

ENZO

“Enzo, please,” Celeste pouted at me, her bottom lip jutted out. She stomped her foot, adding to my irritation. “You’re never home. You never touch me or kiss me. A-Are you cheating?”

I sighed and rubbed my eyes. Fuck, I wish I were cheating. I’d love to be fucking Rosalie right now and not looking at this dumb bitch, but this was my new life.

“I’m not cheating. I work a lot. You know that. You want an empire, then I have to work,” I said, forcing niceness into my voice. “For our baby.”

She sighed and flopped onto the couch. “At least talk to the baby. I get sick of doing it. I can’t wait until it’s out of me so Renee can take care of it. It’s so annoying.”

I ground my teeth together at her words. She wasn’t fit to be a fucking mother.

I sat beside her and placed my hand on her baby bump, feeling the baby move beneath my touch. Breathing out, I leaned in and whispered.

“Hey, baby. It’s me. Dad. I can’t wait to meet you.”

She raked her fingers through my hair, making me tense. I hated it when she touched me.

“I knew this baby was a good idea,” she said with a soft laugh that boiled my blood.

Fuck, I wanted to choke her until the life left her body. I continued to speak softly to E’s baby because fuck her. It would never be hers. The fact that she wasn’t smart enough to understand the danger she was in spoke volumes about her as a person. A truly delusional bitch.

She shifted, and I sat back, taking in her unbuttoning her top to expose her tits to me.

I dragged my gaze from her bare breasts to her face. “I have to go. I have two meetings today, and I’m dealing with my warehouses being burned.”

She jutted out that fucking lip again as she squeezed her breasts. “You said you loved me. You won’t touch me.”

“I have to work,” I repeated through gritted teeth.

“Please, Enzo,” she said, reaching for me. I let her take my hand. “I’m your wife.”

“I know what you are,” I answered.

“You have needs you keep denying yourself.” She stood and pressed her body against mine.

“I can’t get us fucking out of my head. Your big, thick cock.

How deep inside me you were. The noises you made as you came inside me.

I felt like I mattered for the first time in my life.

We’re married. Having a baby. Please…” She brushed her lips against mine.

“I’m lonely, baby. I need you. You haven’t touched me in weeks. I’m scared, Enzo.”

I closed my eyes, fucking hating this shit.

“I have to work,” I repeated. “Once I get things sorted, I’ll be around more. I promise. I’ll be with you and the baby more. Then we can truly start our lives.”

“Promise, Eni?”

I winced at the gross nickname. “Yes, I promise.”

“OK.” She backed away.

“Be a good girl for me and take care of my baby. We will find out the sex soon. I’m excited to know.”

Her eyes lit up, and she nodded. “OK.”

“I’ll see you later. Jake and Camden will be here with you.”

She rolled her eyes and let out a huff. “I hate them. They’re no fun.”

“They’re not meant to be fun.” I kissed the top of her head, nausea churning in my guts.

Play the game. Play the game. Play the fucking game. For Fox. For E. For Rosalie.

It was killing me to play the fucking game.

I plastered a smile on my face and backed away, leaving her looking like she’d won the fucking world.

Stupid bitch.

“How’s married life?” Dom asked as he stared at me from across the table in Cole and E’s apartment.

“Fucking marvelous,” I muttered.

“You know what’s fucking weird?” Levin cut in. “I’ve fucked your wife.”

“You know what’s weirder? So has Drake, and I’m pretty sure Fallon ate her out before,” Vin added, shooting a smirk at Fallon, who wrinkled his nose. “Over half the kings have had your woman, De Luca. That’s rough.”

“I was drunk as fuck. Doesn’t count,” Fallon said, waving Vin off. “Sloppy as fuck pussy. Felt like I was having an all-you-can-eat roast beef buffet at Arby’s.” He glanced at me. “No offense.”

“None taken,” I said with a sigh.

“You know what’s even weirder?” Cole stomped in, flopped down in a chair, and looked to Levin. “Our girl fucked your old man.”

I knew he was going to say something fucking stupid. We hadn’t told Levin or the guys about Rosalie’s latest escapades. In fact, I thought it best we didn’t, but Cole was in a mood and was being a pain in the ass. We couldn’t find her and decided to meet with the kings to see what news they had.

“What?” Levin asked, his face paling.

“Yeah. Fun, huh? Apparently, your old man still gets laid.” Cole scowled.

“That’s why you have that black eye?” Vin smirked at me. “Tried to put Klaus in his place?”

“Fuck off, Valentino,” Cole muttered.

“Wait. What?” Levin asked again. “My old man and… Rosalie?”

I sighed. “Yeah. It’s fucked up.”

“No.” Levin shook his head. “No. No way. My father fucks and leaves. He isn’t the stick-around sort of guy. No.” He kept shaking his head. “No fucking way. I don’t believe it.”

“Well, he’s our girl’s little fucking boy toy. Saw it myself,” Cole continued. “Kissing her. Touching her. Of course, he’s fucking her. Piece of shit human.”

“No.” Levin stood, twisting his fingers in his hair.

“Levin,” Dom said, concern on his face. “Easy. Rosalie is going through a tough time. She’s missing. Things are already crazy enough—”

“That motherfucker. He knew she was hurting. He fucking did this to make it worse. That’s just how he is. Fucking asshole! Fuck!” Levin pulled his phone out.

“Man, don’t,” Vin started, getting to his feet to go to him. Levin jerked away from him and put the phone to his ear. We all watched tensely as he began shouting in German to someone I expected to be Klaus.

Levin’s face reddened with his yelling until his chest was heaving. He grew quiet for a moment before letting out a snort, shaking his head. He hung up a moment later.

“I’ll be back,” he said, stuffing his phone into his pocket.

“Where are you going?” Dom demanded as Vin grabbed Levin’s arm.

“I’m meeting with my old man,” Levin snapped.

“No.” Vincent stepped in front of him. “Man, no. Remember last time? We… I… No.”

I watched the pair stare at one another before Levin reached out and cradled Vin’s face. I’d never seen the two show affection before in front of people. While I knew Vin and Levin had a quiet relationship, this was a first that we were getting a peek behind the curtain.

“I’ll be back. I promise. I need to do this, Vinny,” Levin murmured before he swept his lips quickly across Vin’s. He didn’t stop. He moved swiftly around him, the door closing behind him.

Vin looked back at us. “Sorry.”

“Don’t be,” I said, waving it off. “I can send men to follow him. In case he needs help.”

“No.” Dom shook his head. “If shit goes down, we don’t need your men attacking Matteo’s. It would be that war you’re trying to avoid. Levin is tough. He knows what he’s doing.” The way Dom’s voice shook let me know he was nervous despite the fact.

I accepted his answer and looked over to see E coming into the room, his hair a mess. He’d been high for days and locked in the room he worked in with his sugar. I’d seen him sleeping on a pile of drugs yesterday.

“Hey, E,” Fallon greeted him.

“Fallon,” E murmured, taking Levin’s seat. “What was all the yelling?”

“Levin found out his piece of shit old man is fucking Rosalie,” Cole said sourly.

“Oh,” was all E said, his eyes downcast.

“OK. So what else can we do?” Dom asked.

“We’ve been all over. We’re still trying to track down Tate and Hail.

It’s like these people have vanished into thin air.

Same with Everett.” He frowned. “I know the underground expands across the city. It’s likely Everett escaped through one of the tunnels and is in a safe house.

And if my suspicions are correct, Tate and Hail are working with him. ”

“Why do you think they are?” Cole asked as I rolled his words over in my head.

“I just… do. It makes sense. How could they all go missing at the same time? I have a strong feeling the Ivanovs have teamed up with Everett to take over shit—strength in numbers. Plus, D’Angelou is involved.

The man owns a lot of shit in this city.

He arranged Bianca’s marriage to Mikhail for a reason.

They want to take over. They knew they were beefing with us and your family. Vander Veer is dead. It makes sense.”

I nodded. “You’re right in same aspects, but you’re wrong about D’Angelou. He works for us now.”

Dom raised his brows at that. “What?”

I gave him a brief overview of how we won him over, excluding the part about us killing Vander Veer. Dom and the kings listened intently until I was finished.

“He may be feeding you information—valuable information—but he’s still a piece of shit I’m going to put a bullet into. I hope that won’t be a problem,” Dom said darkly.

I inclined my head at him. “My deal with him was protection from Everett and Ivanov. You were not mentioned, so whatever you do in your spare time is your choice.”

“Perfect.” Dom settled back in his seat, not looking nearly as tense.

“So now what?” I asked.

“I honestly don’t know. We spend a lot of time looking for these assholes, though,” Dom said, shaking his head. “No fucking leads anywhere. It doesn’t matter how many pricks you beat or kill, no one talks.”

“It’s fucked,” I muttered. “Our warehouses are going down daily, too. And more than that. Some of my clubs are being targeted. One was shot up last night.”

“Do you think Fox’s dad is involved with the Russians?” Vin asked softly, wincing at the words. “I mean, we know he hates everything De Santis, and he hates you now. It would make sense he’d side with the Ivanovs to fuck with you.”

I thought his words over before shaking my head. “I don’t see him working with anyone. I think he probably has his own shit set up. Kurt always struck me as a lone wolf, plus, he’s unlikely to side with the Russians, given the history. It doesn’t seem like his style.”

“Rumor has it, The Carpenter is back,” Fallon said.

“He’s killing Russians, too. So I’m with Enzo on this.

Santino is working his own angle and probably just poking all the dragons in the city to start a war.

Then, when the smoke settles, he stands on the rubble as the new king in town. It’s what I’d do if I were him.”

I grunted. It made sense, and Kurt did mention that he hadn’t been sitting quietly all these years. There was so much shit going on in the back end of everything, I didn’t think we’d ever get the answers we wanted.

Didn’t mean I wouldn’t try, but fuck.

All I wanted was to go back in time and never set foot into this life. Fox would be here. Rosalie would be here. We’d be a family again.

I didn’t like to admit it, but I had the feeling Rosalie was too far out of our reach. It was killing me she was missing, but I knew it was a sign just to let her go for good.

It broke my fucking heart because I loved her so damn much.

Suffering seemed fitting to me after everything. And god, I was fucking suffering without her in our lives, without Fox.

If Hell existed, I was sure I was living in it.
