Chapter Seven — Alex

I wake up the next morning and things make more sense.

Reflecting on last night, I realize there’s a dark and twisted part of me that liked what happened.

I think I would have been ashamed to admit it before.

But meeting someone like Callum has made me realize I can accept these parts of myself.

That I’m not broken for liking men who try to break me.

But if there’s ever going to be a chance of things working with Callum and me, the issue Trent brought up about Callum’s “softness” has to be resolved. Because if Callum loses his competitive drive by being with me, that’s not going to work. Either he’ll resent me, or I’ll lose respect for him.

Either way, it’s a bad situation. I’m not sure if Trent’s plan is the solution, but it’s the best one I have so far. And Trent knows him better than anyone.

Even though I hardly know Callum, at least in terms of the amount of time we’ve spent together relative to, say, other men I’ve dated, it feels like we’ve known each other forever. He’s special. I know he is.

Trent’s plan is kind of crazy, and something I would normally never do for any man under any situation.

But for Callum?

I’ll make an exception.

He’s worth it.
