Chapter 88

Victoria stood by the door, her voice cold as she said, "I dont know how to care of sick child!"

But Henry's gaze was heavy as he looked at her. "Think about your brother. I think you should know what to do."

Victoria was momentarily speechless. She wanted to snap at him, really!

Jude was already very tired, struggling to keep his eyes open as he looked at her. "I want you to sleep with me."

Hearing this, Victoria was taken aback, her eyes widening in shock.

She thought, "This brat wants me to sleep with him? How strange!"

Ever since he had lived in the Harrison Villa and Rose Villa, Jude had never allowed her to enter his room, let alone do things like telling him bedtime stories.

He had once bluntly told her, "Don't do those useless things. I don't need them."

Let alone ask her to sleep with him.

For a moment, Victoria wondered if something was wrong with him.

She forced a smile, thinking, "Now he wants it, but I don't want to give it."

But remembering Sebastian's situation, she put her bag down, washed her hands, and then climbed into the bed.

The bed was large enough for both of them to lie comfortably.

Jude's body was a little stiff; he wasn't used to her suddenly being so close. However, he felt that she should be close to him, that she should comfort him to sleep and take care of him.

He could feel the warmth emanating from her, and his body relaxed.

The allergic reaction slowly faded, and he closed his eyes, soon drifting off to sleep.

Victoria lay there, doing nothing. She closed her eyes but could feel a cold, almost hostile gaze fixed on her, not leaving for a long time.

She inwardly rolled her eyes!

Henry turned off the light in the room, and as he walked out, he glanced back and smiled.

He thought to himself, "This is how it should be.

Once she regains her memory, everything will fall back into place."

Outside, there was a couch. He took off his coat and lay down, closing his eyes.

The night was deep and quiet, with the faint smell of disinfectant lingering in the air.

Victoria couldn't sleep. Her eyes stared blankly at the ceiling before she turned over, looking at the little figure sleeping soundly.

"Did my resistance trigger something in them?"

But if she didn't resist, she would always be Sarah's

replacement, Jude's "useless" mother, Henry's exclusive bed partner, receiving no warmth and losing herself in the process.

The next morning, Victoria walked out of the bathroom, her eyes shadowed by dark circles. She bumped into Henry, who was coming in.

He glanced at her and spoke in a neutral tone, "Didn't sleep well?"

Victoria shot back, "Try sleeping with a strange child and see if you can sleep."

Henry's face immediately darkened.

"He's your son."

Victoria yawned and mumbled, "Please, I don't remember."

With that, she pushed past him and made her way to the sofa, plopping down and closing her eyes.

Henry's temples throbbed, his gaze growing even colder.

"Dad."

Jude's childish voice broke the silence as he sat up, looking much better.

"Did you sleep well?" Henry asked.

"Very well." Jude answered honestly. He had woken up in the middle of the night and found himself in Victoria's arms. At first, he thought he would hate being held like that, but to his surprise, he actually wanted more of it.

He wanted Victoria to hold him while he slept forever!

Henry said, "Go wash up, and we'll check you later before breakfast."

"Okay." Jude nodded.

Outside, the phone rang, Victoria opened her eyes, grabbed her phone from her bag, and saw it was a call from Diana.

"Hello?" She answered wearily.

"Ms. Victoria, your voice sounds a little strange. Did you not get a good rest last night?".

The voice on the other end was Emma, sweet and innocent.

Victoria's eyes softened instantly. "Yeah, I couldn't sleep without my little angel by my side."

Emma giggled, "Then will you come pick me up later? We'll sleep together, and I'll tell you bedtime stories to help you sleep."

Victoria felt a surge of emotion. "Okay, I'll be there."

Emma happily hung up the phone.

When Victoria looked up, she saw Henry staring at her coldly.

Her expression froze, and she quickly put her phone away, standing up. "The checkup, will it happen later? He should be fine, right?"

After so many experiences, Victoria had learned to be cautious. Showing a little concern for Jude would make them both easier to handle.

Henry's expression softened slightly, but his tone was still cold. "He is fine now. Doctor will check on him later."

Victoria saw him grabbed his coat before walking

out.

"Where are you going?" Victoria asked reflexively.

"Do I need to report everything to you?" Henry's voice was cold, and then walking out.

Victoria rolled her eyes. She cursed in her heart. "Ridiculous! Does he really think I do care? I was just being polite!"

When Jude finished washing up and came out, Robert had already brought the meal over. Everything was cooked by Jennifer, and all the dishes were Jude's favorites.

Sitting in the hospital bed, the two of them sat in silence.

Jude kept sneaking glances at Victoria, but whenever their eyes met, he quickly looked away, seeming torn.

Victoria sipped some creamy soup, feeling a little warmer. When she looked up, she noticed he hadn't touched his food. "Why aren't you eating?" she asked.

Jude put his spoon down and said, "Feed me."

"What?"

Victoria thought she misheard, reaching out to touch his forehead. "No fever. Why are you suddenly changing?"

Jude furrowed his pretty brows, his big eyes staring at her. "You promised Dad you'd take good care of me."

Victoria laughed. "But you're five years old. You can feed yourself."

Jude pouted. "But I want you to feed me. If you don't, I'll tell Dad you didn't take care of me."

"Jude, you..."

Victoria stared at him in disbelief. She never imagined this little guy could be so cunning!

And judging by his serious expression, she knew he really would do it!
