Jalisa Chapter 3 #3
“Oh, good God, no. You should’ve woken me up. Well, at least had Dylan do it. It’s safer to let someone who knows how to do it.”
Wrath snorted, and I heard Nomad chuckle. “Your cousin warned us not to wake you up. He said something about taking my life in my hands if I did. Are you a little cranky when someone wakes you up?” Wrath asked.
“Not cranky, just unhappy,” I defended.
“Like hell, it’s unhappy. She damn near unmanned one of the prospects a few years ago.
He went to wake her up when she was at the clubhouse because Psycho was looking for her.
It took him months to be able to walk straight and not flinch every time he saw her,” Dylan said from behind us.
I couldn’t see him due to Wrath’s body, but I did respond.
“It didn’t take more than two months. Don’t exaggerate. He was fine.”
“You threatened to make him a eunuch if he ever did it again as you twisted his sac and dick, Jae. Oh yes, it took longer than that for him to recover,” my cousin blabbed.
The next thing I knew, we entered a room filled with Pagans sitting around a huge table.
One look told me where I was, and I was surprised.
This room had to be church, a place few, if any, people outside of members ever got to see.
Ryder had stepped to the side after he entered, so he closed the door once we entered.
I was further shocked to see that Dylan came in, too. He wore a look of trepidation.
“Dylan, take the empty seat next to Fury. Jalisa, you come with me,” Wrath ordered.
As I followed him, I saw Nomad, Ryder, and Dylan take their seats.
I was brought to one next to the empty one at the head of the table.
Wrath pulled it out for me, and he took the other one as soon as I finished sitting.
The faces around the table were serious.
There was a laptop in the middle of it. Wrath tapped a few keys without saying another word, and I heard a ringing sound.
When it stopped, my gaze was drawn to a projector screen on one wall.
Staring back at us was my dad. When he saw me and Wrath, he started in.
“What the hell is going on there? Why is Jalisa with you? Where’s Dylan?” he barked.
Yep, that was my dad, Mr. Charming. I wanted to ease the tension, so I smiled and said happily, “Hi, Dad. How’re you?”
I heard a couple of Pagans muffle their snickers. On Dad’s end, I heard others muttering.
“Jalisa Marie. Don’t smile and act like everything is fine. I know it’s not. Wrath wouldn’t be contacting me if it were. Nor would you be sitting in what appears to be his church. What did you do?”
“Dad, I didn’t do anything. I’m innocent here,” I protested.
“Psycho, you’re right. There is an issue. However, I can’t say it’s entirely Jalisa’s fault, although it started because of her.”
I gasped and glared at Wrath. He ignored me and kept going. “Dylan is right here. Prospect, come show your uncle that you’re alive and well,” he ordered.
Dylan rushed up to stand behind me. “Hi, Uncle,” he said reservedly.
“Hello, Dylan, it’s good to see you, boy. All right, I can see neither of them is physically harmed, so tell me what happened. You said it wasn’t all Jalisa’s fault. What does that mean?” Dad asked.
I sat there with my arms crossed. They could kiss my ass.
I’d sit here and not say a word. Damn men, always trying to boss me or make things my fault.
Why was it my fault some nutcase insisted I was his and that he would do anything to get me back?
There was no reason for Killer to be saying such ridiculous shit.
“Last night, your nephew got a call from your daughter, asking him to come back to his place and to bring help. My enforcer and I went with him. We found your daughter there with two dead bodies and another live one tied to a chair. It seems they broke in. We had a long conversation with the one left alive and discovered Killer, from the Black Outlaws, sent them.”
Wrath had to pause when he revealed who sent those men. Dad burst out, swearing, and so did others on his end. It took them a minute to settle.
“Sorry, continue,” Dad told Wrath. I was shocked he apologized.
“Jalisa filled us in on why she was staying with our prospect and how no one believed she’d be found here.
We took care of the third problem along with the other two.
She’s here at our compound, as you can see.
I want to know why you didn’t call me and let me know what was up.
I know you didn’t think anyone would track her here, but it would’ve been nice to know what could come at us.
We’ve had dealings with Black Outlaws from another chapter not long ago.
They’re not good people. I don’t want to have them in our territory, causing problems. When those three don’t return, they’ll come hunting them, putting them on my doorstep,” Wrath snapped.
There was a rustling sound on the other end, and then the screen was filled with the image of Panther.
I knew he’d be popping on soon. There was no way this call would happen without him being present.
Panther was the president of the Athens, Georgia, chapter of the Fiends and my dad’s best friend.
Right behind him came Scooter, their VP.
“Hi, Uncle Panther, Uncle Scooter,” I said softly.
“Jae, are you alright? Did they hurt you in any way?” Panther demanded to know.
“Are these Pagans treating you okay?” Scooter added.
Before they could cause a fight, I tried to stop it.
“I wasn’t hurt by those three idiots last night, and the Pagans have been very hospitable.
I know you have a lot of questions and planning to do, so why don’t we cut to it?
I’ll head home as soon as I get my things packed at Dylan’s apartment.
Don’t expect me until after dark. When I get there, we can figure out what to do about Killer and his delusions.
The man we questioned said Killer was insisting I was claimed and his.
I don’t think he’s just saying it. The nutter believes it for some wacked-out reason.
Then tomorrow, I’ll make sure to be visible all over town, so whoever they have watching will report back that I’m there and not here.
Maybe if we make it look like I’ve been there all along, but inside the compound, they’ll think the Pagans aren’t involved.
I’m not sure how to explain their three friends’ disappearances, but give me time. ”
I paused to take a breath. I knew the way to go was to talk as fast as possible to prevent them from taking over. It was worth a try, except it wasn’t Dad or my honorary uncles who interrupted me. It was Wrath.
“There’s no way you’re going back there and out in public where they have a better chance of snatching you.
That’s not the answer. The way to go is to stay here at our compound.
We’ll keep you under wraps behind the walls.
If they send others seeking you, we’ll make it look like you’re not here.
If they try to find their buddies, they’ll never discover them.
I doubt they’ll come by and ask, but if they do, we’ll deny all knowledge,” he said smugly.
“And to help support that story, we’ll have Dylan report to the police that there was a break-in at his apartment in town last night.
He can say it took him this long to call because he hadn’t been there until now.
We’ll make sure all signs of you living there are gone before the cops arrive.
They’ll file a report. Dylan will say nothing is missing.
It’ll remain an open, unsolved burglary case,” another Pagan stated. His cut read VP, and then Storm .
The other Pagans chimed in with ideas. On the Fiends’ end, they were adding to it. They were making my head hurt. Finally, I couldn’t stand it anymore, and I hollered, “SHUT UP!”
Everyone went silent. I saw the surprise on my end from the Pagans and smirks on the other end. They knew me well.
“For Christ’s sake, you’re all giving me a migraine.
That’s not what we’re doing. The Pagans have been sucked into this, and they were never supposed to be involved.
It was stupid of us to think no one would find Dylan or know he was with them and that they wouldn’t guess I might come here.
The men who came after me said they had people and friends from whom they got the information.
Whoever those friends were, they’d surely tell Killer I was here.
The only way we can get the Pagans out of our mess is to make sure I’m seen at home.
Dad, I know you don’t like it, but sending me off somewhere else isn’t the answer. ”
“I won’t let that crazy bastard touch you. I’ve heard all the stories about him. No way. You’ll go where I tell you,” Dad ordered.
“What stories?” Wrath and I asked at the same time. No one had said anything about stories to me.
I watched Panther and Dad exchange looks, and the hairs on my neck stood up. Scooter nodded his head at Dad. I was about to demand they tell me what the looks and remarks were about when Dad explained.
“We sent you out of here so fast that we didn’t have time to thoroughly investigate Killer and his club.
We are familiar with them and have even encountered Killer and the other officers over the past several years.
We’re a one-percenter club, but even we won’t go as far as those bastards.
They’d sell their grandmothers if it would make them a penny.
Not long ago, one of their chapters was wiped out.
The rumor is that they were involved in trafficking people.
If that’s true, then good riddance, and I hope they suffered. Who does that shit?
