Jalisa Chapter 3 #4

“After you left, we got to dig deeper into them, particularly Killer. The more we learned, the more concerned we became. Honey, I don’t know how to tell you this, but Killer has focused on a woman in the past the way he has on you.

It was several years back. He dated her for a short period.

For some reason, she stopped dating him.

He didn’t take that well and kept after her.

He insisted she was his and that she was claimed. She denied it. Sound familiar?

“This went on for a couple of months, and she went as far as to try to file a restraining order, but he hadn’t done anything to warrant it, so the judge denied it.

He harassed her so much that she left town.

She didn’t tell anyone where she went. She even left her stuff behind, only taking her clothing and leaving in the middle of the night. ”

Dad paused and sighed before he continued.

My gut was telling me it was bad. “A month later, her family in Colorado reported her missing. That’s where she went.

There was a huge hunt for her. Her missing person notice went out to multiple states.

Three months later, a body was found in Oklahoma.

It took DNA to identify her. They were never able to pin it on Killer, but her family swore it was him. ”

“Are you kidding me? Oh my God!” I gasped.

“And she’s not the only one. The woman who was pregnant with his kid, it seems, was found dead last week, and there was no baby.

It had been removed via a crude C-section.

There was no way it was old enough to survive.

He did it, Jalisa. The hang-around who told us about her in the first place told Dizzy that he was in the clubhouse, saying there was nothing to prevent you from returning to him. That he had no woman or baby.”

Horror overwhelmed me, and my stomach rebelled as the implications sank in.

I jumped up and ran to the nearby trash can.

I vomited. There wasn’t much in my stomach to bring up, but I expelled it.

I vaguely heard cursing and shouts of concern.

I heaved until my stomach felt empty and sore.

When I thought I was through, I sank into a crouch and held my head.

Tears filled my eyes. Why did someone like Killer exist?

And why did I have to be one to gain his attention?

Was there something in me that attracted that kind of evil?

I ignored the voices behind me. I didn’t know how long I hunkered there before I was scooped up into strong, beefy arms. I tiredly looked up to find Wrath was carrying me back to the table. I weakly pushed at his chest.

“Settle. I’ve got you. Your dad and the Fiends need to see you. They’re freaking out,” he muttered.

Wrath sat in his chair and held me on his lap. I didn’t fight him. The truth was, his lap was perfect, and I was comfortable there. His arms around me made me feel safe. The next thing I knew, Dylan was next to me with a glass in one hand and a bowl in the other.

“Rinse and spit,” he said.

I took the glass because my mouth tasted awful, and did as he said. I found that mouthwash was in the water. I swished and spat in the bowl four times before I felt refreshed. Without a word, he set the glass and bowl aside and then sat back in his chair.

“I’m sorry. I’ve got myself under control. It won’t happen again,” I assured all of them.

“You have nothing to be sorry about, and if you need to puke, then do it. You’re not the first to vomit over something, and you won’t be the last,” a Pagan named Stitch said. I knew his name due to his cut. On the other side, it read Medic . He gave me a sympathetic smile.

“Thank you, but I’m not usually such a weakling. It just hit me. How terrible it had to be for those women, especially the pregnant one. What kind of animal would do that? It was his child, and he callously killed it.” I couldn’t hold back my moan of pain and disgust.

Wrath gently rocked me. “Shh, don’t think about it. It’s inhuman, I agree. I have no idea how a man could hurt an innocent woman and child like that, especially one that was his. Killer is crazy, and there’s only one recourse for someone like that.”

“What?” I asked.

“He needs to be put down like a rabid animal,” he hissed.

Others around the table all called out their agreement and pounded their fists on the table. I was treated to the same coming from the Fiends. It took a few moments for the noise to die down. Once it was quiet again, Panther spoke.

“Jalisa, baby, I know you want to come home and stand with us, but we can’t allow that.

Do you know what’ll happen if, by chance, that monster gets his hands on you?

Your dad is called Psycho, but he won’t be the only one tripping offline like a demented animal.

We all will. Even if they discover where you are, it’s still further away, making them spread their resources.

We can see if one of our allies will take you.

It’s not a permanent solution, but we have to buy time. ”

I knew he was right, but I hated bringing trouble to others. There had to be a way to keep everyone safe.
