Chapter 5 #3
“So, that’s her? Your wife?” She seemed disappointed, but I wasn’t sure why. Nari easily outshined almost every woman in attendance, and Mya was married, so the woman who belonged to me shouldn’t have been any concern of hers. Maybe that was the issue . . .
Nari is my wife . . . not her.
“You shouldn’t ask questions you already know the answers to. It presents as arrogant or ignorant, talking just to be seen or heard.” My intense gaze met with her seductive one. She didn’t bother hiding her lustful feelings.
“That’s never been an issue. You always see me. All of me.”
I chuckled and turned to walk away. “It was good to see you, Mya. Tell your husband I said hello.” He was here.
I could do that myself, but I wouldn’t. He wasn’t relevant to me, and my acknowledgment wasn’t necessary.
I was simply making a point, which she didn’t bother to receive.
She did, however, catch my arm just before I got away.
“Ella es bonita. Incluso le daré hermosa. Me pregunto si ella puede manejarte de la manera que yo puedo.” (She’s pretty. I’ll even give her beautiful, but I do wonder if she can handle you the way I can.)
“Esto es difícil de decir. En el momento en que se convirtió en mía, no existían recuerdos de la mujer antes que ella.” (That’s hard to say. The minute she became mine, no memories of the women before her existed.)
The minute she released me, I could feel my wife. Alisha shot me a dirty look before she joined her husband, but Nari’s face expressed what she heard. Only she wasn’t sure of what the exchange was.
“Nice to meet you. Love that dress, girl,” Mya delivered in a snide tone before walking away. My eyes, however, never left my wife.
“What did she say to you?” Nari hissed the second we were alone. I could see Mya now watching us from across the room. The pleased grin on her face created tension in my shoulders.
“It’s not important.”
“It most definitely is. What the fuck did she say?”
“That you were beautiful, but she wonders if you can handle me the way she could.”
I wouldn’t lie. There was no point.
“And what did you say?”
“That it was hard to tell because I had no memories of any woman who came before you.”
“You had sex with her?”
“Yes, I did. Years ago. It was before she married her husband. Long before I ever met you.”
“Apparently not long enough in her mind if she’s reminiscing just from being in your presence. My God and she’s here, whispering about the things you’ve done, grinning in my face, sarcastically complimenting my dress.”
“Sweetheart, I have a past just like you—”
“My past isn’t here taunting you and challenging whether you’re good enough now, are they?
” Her eyes narrowed into slits, heated with the thoughts of me and Mya.
When Nari released me from the deadly rays, they made it to Mya, who blew us both a kiss, then pushed her breasts up a little higher before allowing her hands to glide down her curvy frame.
When I realized Nari was about to head in that direction, I caught her by the waist, bringing her into my chest.
“I’ve had sex with plenty of women. Some you will never lay eyes on and others you’ll sit across from at functions such as these.
Most you will never know have been in my bed because I have always been clear about their role in my life.
There are those who have just been fucks, some companions, but none have ever been my wife. ”
My eyes leveled with hers in a way that left no room for uncertainty.
“That role will only ever belong to you, baby. The reality of what you are and what she is not is why she’s standing next to her husband, reminiscing about when she was in my bed.
She is very clear about what she will never be, what she could never be, and that’s causing her to lash out at you.
She wants what you have. You have me. The only way that changes is if you decide you no longer want this, and even then, I’ll still be yours because no one can ever reverse the damage you’ve done.
You’ve ruined me, sweetheart. I’m no good to anyone but you, so there’s no point in me trying. ”
Her eyes softened, but her body was still tense. “Now, can we join everyone, or are you going to allow someone irrelevant to make you question your rightful place…” I allowed some space, extending a hand, motioning for her to move. “…by my side?”
Our eyes were at war for a long moment before she cut them toward Mya, who pretended not to notice while easing closer to her husband.
“You were right to turn down those invitations. I’m not ready for these people,” she gritted and attempted to walk away. I was on her after the first step, leaning around my wife to press a kiss to her temple while my palm lay flat against her stomach.
“These people don’t mean shit to me, which, in turn, means they don’t mean shit to us. My only concern is you, as should yours be me. Only us. Just us, agreed?”
“It would be a lot easier to believe it’s just us if there wasn’t a new woman at every turn reminiscing about when it used to be you and them. No matter what I know you feel for me, it’s not easy having what used to be constantly thrown in my face.”
“Key words, ‘used to be,’ as in the past.”
She shot me a look when I stepped around her but didn’t respond. I kissed Nari and smiled before I took her at the small of her back to go see the rest of the pieces.
The remainder of the night went well. There were heavy hors d’?uvres and drinks while everyone gathered to explore the pieces.
About an hour into the evening, the bidding war began.
It wasn’t necessarily an auction but a silent promise.
Those with status would be granted first rights, even if that was unspoken.
Price wasn’t an issue or discussed because you could afford the pieces if you were in the room.
When they got to the set I knew Nari wanted, my chin dipped, offering a slight nod to let Gian know we would purchase it. Mya watched me so closely that she noticed, sending an evil glare to Nari, who was so caught up that she missed it. Thank God.
Nari’s mouth fell open when she realized what I was doing. I winked at her, and she smiled softly, mouthing, “Thank you.” Imagine that. Diamonds landed us back on good terms.
At one point during the evening, Mya dragged her husband our way to engage in conversation, although she did most of the talking, attempting to exert her familiarity with me.
Poor bastard didn’t have a clue that he was being used as a pawn in his wife’s sick obsession with me.
I wondered if she ever told him about our past. Likely not because he was too cordial and eager to be in my space.
Not the type of behavior for a man who knows another is well versed in what his wife’s body was capable of.
Nari kept her cool, which surprised me. Alisha joined at one point, and the two had a sidebar conversation, leaving Mya and her husband to me and Darius. I quickly shut that down, excusing myself and pulling Nari away.
I noticed after the showcase that Mya sent her husband to Gian.
When he shook his head and motioned to me, I chuckled.
She wanted him to purchase the set promised to Nari.
Gian wouldn’t do it. He didn’t know the history between Mya and me, nor would it have mattered.
For one, he was sweet on Nari, and two, I made clear I wanted the set, so he would ensure it was mine.
I shook my head, amused by the argument that took place when Mya’s husband returned empty-handed.
“Is that about you?”
“No, sweetheart. That’s about you. She wanted the set I purchased.”
“Before or after she realized you were buying it for me?”
I smirked and lowered my eyes, easing my hands into the pockets of my slacks. “Does it matter? It’s yours, and after they package it so we can leave, you’ll wear it for me tonight while I see how many times I can make you come.”
Her cheeks flushed and her eyes lowered. “Maybe I’ll be the one who’s keeping count,” she shot back, and my dick inflated to an uncomfortable degree.
“That’s a challenge I’ll willingly accept. Let’s say good night to everyone so we can get started right away.”
Her smile was seductive and teasing, but she didn’t disagree.
On the way over to Darius and Alisha, Mya locked eyes with Nari, who smiled cunningly but lifted her middle finger before the rest surfaced, and she wiggled them, delivering a wave.
Nari’s hand then ended up moving down my chest below my belt, but I caught it, lifting her fingers for a soft kiss.
Mya’s eyes widened, not expecting the reaction she received.
I kept quiet. There was no point. Nari was staking her claim.
My sweet Nari has her claws out, and it makes my dick even harder.
