Chapter 9
I went back to work with a vengeance. I felt like it was my responsibility to put away every low life pedophile that contacted my bogus site.
I was taken off the pedophile task force to begin tracking down the Russian hackers who have been attempting to sway our elections. I dove into that assignment just as much fervor as I had been using to catch pedophiles.
I had been seeing Dr Lacey for six months at this time. I was now just seeing her every other week. She was still working with me because she felt that I was using work to bury some of my pain from missing Megan in my life.
I didn’t think anything of it when she told me that she would be leaving for a month to go on vacation. It did not click anywhere in side that her fill-in while she was gone was named Abigale. Dr Lacey also insisted that I see her fill-in every Friday while she was gone.
+++++++
It was a bright sunny afternoon that first time I was to see the new therapist named Abigale. It reminded me of the sunny day that Megan died. I felt a knot in my gut as I took the elevator up to the third floor where Dr Lacey’s office is located.
I’ve made pretty good progress over the six months that I have been seeing Dr Lacey. But today, I feel the grief closing in on me tighter than it has in sometime.
The woman was standing over by the window with her back to me when I entered the office and closed the door.
“Hello, Jack…Please take a seat,” she called out softly.
My feet froze and it felt like my heart jumped into my throat when I recognize that the voice belonged to Abigale. MY Abigale. MY Abby.
“What the fuck? What are you doing here?” I gasped in disbelief. “I am a therapist, Jack. I have my MSW,” she informed me. “For the next month, I am going to be your therapist until Dr Lacey returns.
I slowly made my way to the couch and dropped moments before my knees gave out. “How am I supposed to tell you about my pain?” I asked. “And which pain would I talk about?” I mumbled. “My pain about her or my pain about you?” I asked miserably.
“We can deal with the grief of losing Megan first,” Abby told me. “Believe it or not, I am a very good listener and from what I’ve been told, an above average counselor,” Abby told we as she went to the chair where Dr Lacey always sits and takes a seat with what I presume is my case file folder.
“You knew that you would be counselling me?” I asked curiously. “Not until I saw your file today,” she answered. “But I can’t think of anyone I would want to help more than you Jack,” she offered.
It had been a while since I had gone back and addressed the shock of my loss. Over the past several months, Dr Lacey and I had focused on moving forward agendas.
With Abby being a new set of ears, she decided it
might be a good idea to rehash the past so she would have an idea of where I have come from and how much progress I have made.
“There is a lot of info in these notes,” Abby pointed out.
“But sometimes it’s important to take a step back to get a view of the whole picture,” she suggested.
It took a lot of concentration on my part not to stare at the gorgeous shapely legs poking out of Abby’s tight pencil skirt.
I made myself think about what happen the day that Megan died.
I was surprised when all that pain flooded back to the surface as if the dam holding it back had broken open. I was sobbing and snot was drooling out of my nose when Abby sat down next to me and hugged me into her arms.
I’m not sure how long I cried. Blubbering and soaking Abby’s blouse with my tears. Abby held me in her arms until I could gain control of myself. “Wow, I didn’t know I still had that much pain still inside of me,” I gasped softly.
“That’s why I wanted us to go back to the beginning, Jack. The more you can let it out, the better off you are going to be further down the line,” she told me.
When Abby pulled away and stood up, I saw that the wetness from my tears soaked through the middle of her red gauzy blouse.
I could now very clearly see her black frilly bra she had on underneath her blouse.
I felt my dick wiggle in my slacks as I gawked at her tits a little longer that I should have.
“Can I ask you a personal question that has nothing to do with my case?” I asked softly as I raise my eyes to peer into hers.
Before Abby could answer, I went ahead and asked the question. “Are you still together with Keith?” Keith is the young man she had started dating when Megan and I got together four years ago.
There was a brief smirky grin that washed across her face before she answered. “No, he found other interests and moved on about a year ago,” she answered me. “I have been too busy starting my career to pursue anything since then,” she added.
There was a moment of awkwardness between us before I left the office. “So, I guess I’ll see you next Friday,” I told Abby with a sheepish grin. “I’ll try not to be such a crybaby next week,” I chuckled.
“Nonsense! What you did today was huge,” Abby told me. “Let’s work on getting all that pain out of your heart,” she suggested.
