SOLEIL’S VIDEO
“Hello, Dean Rafferty. I would just like to tell you that I told Dad I love you tonight. And I meant it. And he knew I meant it. I do. I love you. I know I haven’t known you for very long.
I know that I only technically remember knowing you since this morning.
But I love you, Dean. I love you so much, and I want you to have the best, happiest life you deserve.
And that’s why I’m going to have to stop seeing you for skating lessons.
This was my idea, not Dad’s. I want to make sure you and my dad have a good relationship as coaches.
I don’t want anything to affect your job or his or the team.
“But I want you to forget about the past few weeks. I know you won’t be able to forget me—not just because I’m so amazing, but because it’s a small town and you’ll still be working with my dad.
I’m sure he’ll invite you over for dinner sometime, and I might even cook you lasagna.
And I’m sure I’ll like your butt and your dimple every time I see them…
But I won’t remember the time we’ve spent together.
I won’t remember that you’re the one who taught me how to skate.
“Because I’m going to delete and erase and burn everything.
I’m doing it because I love you. And because I know this will hurt you more than it will hurt me, because I’m going to sleep soon.
I love you. I’m sorry—I probably shouldn’t be saying this.
You should delete this as soon as you finish watching it. I love you. Thank you. Bye.”
