39. Kayori
Chapter Thirty-Nine
KAYORI
I sat up in bed, watching Praise snore lightly.
I admired his physique as he lay peacefully naked in bed.
The light sweat on his back made his skin look like he was glowing.
While my mouth watered at the sight of him, I could feel intense contractions hit from my lower stomach and move to my lower back.
So far, they were ten minutes apart. I felt excited but scared at the same time.
I knew my son was ready to come. I was scared because weeks ago, I was supposed to go in for C-section.
I refused because I was petrified. I was willing to risk pushing my hip out of the socket just to give birth and push my son out the natural way.
Going against my doctor's wishes, I did my own research and decided at the last minute that I would be pushing my baby out.
The pins in my hip could be replaced if I did push my hip bone out of the socket.
That was the risk I was willing to take.
I tried to reposition myself, but the unbearable pain damn near knocked me to my knees.
Tired of trying to hold out on bothering Praise, I shook him, and he gave no response.
Another hard contraction hit, causing tears to fall from my eyes.
The pressure in my pelvic area was so heavy that it felt like a brick was sitting on it.
I positioned myself upward and grabbed a pillow.
Each time a contraction hit, I rocked my body to it and tried to ease the pain.
The contractions were now five minutes apart.
"Praise!" I yelled loud this time, causing my water to break and gush out like a river.
Praise hopped up on alert and panicking. Rubbing his eyes, he stared at me with wide eyes and down to the bed that was wet.
"Yori, you peed on yourself?"
I grumbled and rolled my eyes as another contraction hit hard again.
"No, Praise! My got damn water broke! Ahhhh!" I started to scream and then cry. I was nervous and scared as hell. I worried about my baby as well.
"Fuck, Yori! What should we do?"
I wanted to snatch Praise up. That's how bad the pain was. His questions were making things worse.
"Get my bag and help me to the car. I feel a lot of pressure, Praise."
Deep down, I started to feel like I was not making it to a hospital bed to have this baby.
It felt like he was coming right now. I watched Praise run around the room, grabbing things.
In my current state of mind, I wanted to remind him to put on some clothes, but I couldn't say a word.
I had never experienced a pain like this.
Praise was running around in his Versace boxers like they were shorts and his dick was so damn big it slipped out on his thigh as he walked fast around the room.
“Come on, baby, everything is in the car... just take deep breaths, and we gon’ make it to the hospital," he tried his hardest to talk in a soothing tone, and it comforted me until the contractions started coming back-to-back. He practically picked me up off the bed and helped me stand.
More liquid fell down my thighs, and I only had a nightgown on. I didn’t want to stop and tell him to let me change. I just wanted to get to that hospital to make sure my baby was okay.
"Is Mattea in the car already?" I managed to ask as he locked my front door.
Nodding his head, he rushed me to the car and sped off like a mad man. He called his mom first, and I was surprised.
"I need you to get up to Little Company Of Mary, Ma. Come take Mattea home with you. Yori is about to have my baby." He smiled and rubbed my hand.
Listening to their convo, I talked to myself. I was trying not to panic and just say a prayer for God to get me through this delivery because I wanted a safe delivery and a healthy baby.
Once we made it up to the hospital, Praise jumped out and ran in to get the nurse.
I couldn’t even focus on the pain because now I was staring at Praise like he had lost his fucking mind.
When I looked into the hospital entrance, I could see the wide eyes on people's faces as he yelled and made demands. They brought out a wheelchair, Praise helped me in it, and that’s when I told him what I was thinking.
"You better ask one of these nurses for a gown, Praise. You out here showing off and shit." Rolling my eyes as he gave me that cocky smirk, he grabbed his long thick shaft through the boxers and winked at me.
"You worried bout the wrong things, Yori, this yo dick.
Now let them check you in and get you right while I park and get Tea out of the car.
" Pecking me on my lips and looking me deep in the eyes, I swooned and smiled.
For a couple of seconds, Praise made me forget all about the serious pain I was in.
I allowed the nurse to wheel me in as a ball of nerves hit me. I was really about to have a baby; my whole life was about to change. I wish my mom and Malcolm were still alive to witness this, and I knew that now was not the time to be sad or feel down. This was a celebration of life.
I was in labor for five hours and thirty minutes before my beautiful baby boy came out.
He smiled before he cried. Once they cleaned him up and passed him to me, I could not keep my emotions together.
I cried hard. He was the spitting image of his dad and little sister.
Deep dish dimples, those big gray eyes with a mass of curly hair all over his head.
I stared at him like no one else was in the room.
Everything the doctors said would happen didn't happen to me.
My hip did not push out of the socket, and I did not lose a lot of blood. I was just fine.
"You gon’ let me hold my son?" Praise stood over us.
The smile he gave was big and genuine. He was a proud dad.
As much as I wanted to keep Matthew all to myself, I went ahead and passed him to his dad.
Praise was able to get skin to skin first with Matthew.
The doctor had to stitch me up and check my vitals.
The whole time they worked on me, I stared at Praise.
He was cooing and placing soft kisses on Matthew as he promised him the world.
My heart was full of love and admiration as I witnessed the toughest and sometimes crazy man sitting before me, vulnerable.
Although I saw this side of him with Mattea and even myself, it felt good watching him be so happy with the creation we made together.
"Beast and my mom are working on their relationship.
I'm working hard, Yori, to merge me and all these personalities together.
It might happen. It might never happen. I just want you to know I'll never hurt you.
I will never stop seeking and getting the proper help I need to be a good man for my family.
I love you so much, Kayori. It hurts to even think about you leaving me again.
I hate that I got this mental shit with me, and I can't control it sometimes, but it’s who I am.
A nigga still got a good heart. You feel me?
" He rocked Matthew in his muscular arms, and he allowed a tear to fall down his left cheek as several tears fell down both of my cheeks.
"I love you for you, Praise. I love all of you.
Again, I'm sorry for walking away from you. I ain’t perfect either, but I'm willing to show you with actions that I too can become a better woman for our kids, myself, and you.
" Nodding his head in agreement, he felt that she was coming from an honest place.
Leandra, Mattea, Meshalay, and Stone, holding Zion, walked in with bright smiles plastered on their faces.
Everyone stood over Praise to look at the baby.
I overheard Praise tell Leandra to wash her hands so she could hold her grandson.
Little Mattea was the first to approach me while everyone else still gushed over Matthew.
"That's my baby brother, Yori?" she asked in her soft angelic voice as I smiled at her and told her yes.
"And... and you is his mommy?" Mattea’s speech improved so much better. She was now four and speaking better than ever.
"Yes, I'm his mommy, and you’re his big sister," I reassured her. I wasn’t sure where she was taking this conversation.
"Can I hold him?" She smiled as she played with her fingernails. I scooted over and tapped the spot next to me in the hospital bed. I told Tea that she could hold him soon as Leandra was done holding him.
"Can you be me and his mommy?" she asked.
“Yes, I’ll be your mommy, Princess Tea.” Pinching her cheek, I kissed the tip of her nose.
Leandra walked Matthew over with Praise close on her heels, peaking over her shoulders.
His eyes were glued to our son. Leandra instructed Mattea how to hold her arms and gently placed Matthew in her arms. She smiled and kissed him, then she started crying, and my heart melted.
“He’s a perfect baby brother.” She sniffed as Praise wiped her nose.
Meshalay brought flowers and walked closer as we locked eyes.
No words needed to be spoken. We were both in our feelings and wrong.
We went days without speaking, but at this moment, it felt like we never even fell off.
I was grateful to have her by my side because she was more than a best friend; she was my sister.
I felt complete and happy. Once everyone left, it was just me and Praise left in the room.
“You really meant what you said to Tea?”
I took my right nipple out of Matthew's mouth and replaced it with my left as he latched on perfectly.
“Of course, she’s been my daughter. Praise, I love Mattea like she is mine. She’s a part of you, and I accept all of you,” I reassured him as he smiled.
“Bet, wait until you see the push gift that I got you.” He smiled that charming smile, then took Matthew away from me to burp him.
I was exhausted, but I was very satisfied with the outcome of my day.
I’m so glad I had a man to stick by my side and help me.
I dozed off and got some rest, thinking nothing but happy thoughts.
I finally had a family, something that belonged to me.
