Chapter 20 #3

“Fuck yeah,” I grunted. “It’s official. This is my favorite position. We definitely have to do this every day.”

Iz whimpered. “You can go so deep. It’s so—ah! Oh my god.”

She braced her hands on my chest and rode me all the way to her climax. I reached up and helped her, rubbing her clit with my other hand. Her body convulsed, and I stopped thrusting up into her as her velvet walls milked my dick.

“Oh fuck.” I closed my eyes and tried to hold on.

“Hunter. Hunter!” she screamed as she went over before collapsing onto my chest.

And it didn’t take much for me to follow her. Her pussy was still quaking around me, and I thrusted into her a few times before grinding my dick deep inside her. I buried my face in her shoulder and wrapped my arms around her.

I don’t know what it was—my revelation today, the conversation with my mom, Iz’s confidence—but this all felt different. Especially after.

We cuddled for a few minutes before I finally had to pull out and take care of the condom. When I came back, I grabbed her hand and pulled her up. We stumbled into my bedroom where we collapsed into my bed and cuddled again.

She told me about her day—bonding and fighting with her dad before finally telling him how she needed him to show up for her.

“I’m proud of you, Iz. I know that wasn’t easy.”

“It wasn’t.” She smiled softly. “I want him to like me. I want him to want to get to know me, and until today, it didn’t feel like I was a priority.”

“Hopefully you’ll get the opportunity to bond now that Phoebe’s out of the picture.”

She sighed. “That’s only temporary, I’m afraid. She’ll pop up one day like Chucky and ruin everything again.”

“Yeah, but next time you’ll have Beau on your side. It sounds like he hears you and wants you here.”

“We’ll see, I guess.” She sighed and cuddled into my side. “How was your day?”

“Eh, I ended up at my mom’s house and had a similar come to Jesus moment.”

Iz tipped her head back so she could look at me. “What does that mean?”

I gave her the Cliff Notes version of my childhood and my mom’s opinion on love and marriage because of her church.

She cuddled even closer, like she was trying to heal my emotional wounds with her body.

Which, honestly, I didn’t object to. I was almost ready for round two.

“We left it in a weird place. She wanted to be alone and think about what I said. I don’t know if we’ll ever talk about it again. That’s kinda what my family does—avoid the awkward and then have no accountability.”

“But it sounds like you’ve learned from it. You don’t want to live like that.”

“Hell no. I’m more of a cards-on-the-table kinda guy.

Just say what you’re feeling. Life’s short, ya know?

My mom almost died because of choices he made.

I still don’t understand why she stayed with him.

It’s not like it changed him. But everything changed for her, and not for the best. It’s so fucked up. ”

“I’m sorry, Hunter. No one should feel stuck or have to accept scraps of love.”

“She knows I’d have her back. I’d support her if she ever left him. I’ve told her as much. But she won’t. She’ll never leave him.”

“I’m so sorry. Watching someone you love choose pain is hard.

” Iz sighed. “I know it’s not the same at all, but my bestie had a boyfriend in high school that I hated.

I don’t know why she chose the douchebag.

He was always putting her down and negging her and then laughing about it like he’d said something clever.

I’m getting pissed just remembering it. The number of times I’d fantasized about punching that dick bag in the face… ”

“What did you do about it?”

“Nothing. I mean, there wasn’t anything I could do.

She picked him. I didn’t even tell her I hated him.

I’m sure she knew. Hell, he did too. But I love her.

She’s like a sister, you know? Eventually, she woke up and saw what an ass he was.

No amount of boyish dimples can cover up douchebag behavior forever. ”

“Yeah, unfortunately my mom doesn’t feel the same way. She told me she’s bound to him the rest of her life because of god.”

“Then I guess you have to decide if that’s a dealbreaker for you. It sucks to say, but sometimes seeing people in a toxic relationship, repeating bad choices, is too much to be around. And you might need to step away for your own peace of mind. Sounds like that’s the choice your brother made.”

“To a degree. He stepped away from me too, though. I haven’t heard from him in ages.”

“When’s the last time you called him?”

“What?”

She shrugged. “Phones work both ways, you know. I’m just saying…”

“True.”

We just sat there in silence for a few minutes. Her in my arms. Her tits pressed against my side. Honestly, it felt like heaven. I loved everything about it.

“I love that you were worried about me,” Iz murmured out of the blue.

“What the fuck?” I grumbled. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”

She giggled. “Sorry, that came out wrong. I just mean…” She sighed. “It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one catching feelings here.”

I pressed a kiss to the top of her head, unable to come up with a reply.
