Epilogue
ATTICUS
Today is our wedding day, but the paperwork doesn’t really matter to me, because as far as I’m concerned, she’s been mine since I laid eyes on her. Lemon is perfect in every way. She’s beautiful and submissive and thoughtful and sweet. She fits me in a way I wasn’t sure any woman ever could.
I wasn’t searching for my happy ever after. I’d almost given up on the whole idea until she literally fell into my arms, and suddenly I realized why I was alone. It’s because I was waiting for her.
My family and friends think this town and some mythical legacy is the reason we found each other, but I don’t believe that. Lemon and I found each other when we were both ready for forever. Because that’s what we are…each other’s forever.
Music starts to play, and I look to the end of the makeshift aisle, ignoring the faces of the people watching us legally tie ourselves to each other today.
There’s no one standing beside me, just like there’s no one walking with her, because we wanted this to be about us starting this journey as individuals and finishing it as a brand-new family—me, her, and the baby growing in her belly.
When she appears, she’s dressed head to toe in white, carrying a bunch of daisies and the tiny pink paper butterflies Felix made for her. She’s perfect, like she was the day she crashed into me and every day since then.
I’m possessive. I’m demanding. I’m someone who craves control, and yet I’d do anything she asked of me if it made her happy.
I was searching for a woman to obey my commands and enjoy the freedom that ceding control to me would give her. And I found that in Lemon, but I got so much more.
She’s the woman who kneels at my feet and enjoys being over my lap. She’s the woman who will never resent my twin and who loves my family. She’s the woman who fits into my world like she was born to be there.
She’s my other half.
My princess.
My wife.
My happy ever after.
