A Second Chance at Something Old

When Madeline’s husband, daughter, and sister are torn from her in a single blow, grief and loneliness leave her with no clear path forward.

She puts her belongings into storage, sells her house, and relocates to a small town that is new to her, determined to build some kind of life again.

Every dollar she has goes into an upscale secondhand, consignment, and upcycling store—the dream she once shared with her daughter—and the shop has to succeed if it is going to support her.

Opening it brings fresh pain, and she has little time to prove the business can keep her afloat.

Then laughter returns, along with dear friends, a stout and irritable cat, a dignified old yellow Labrador, and flashes of joy she had stopped expecting.
