Chapter 793 Nowhere Is Safe
“Yes.”
Arthur flew off into the distance.
Kael left his Inner Cosmos and returned to the outside world.
Sunlight bathed the Inner Cosmos, and flowers bloomed in every direction. The real universe, however, was cold and lightless.
Standing atop his flying sword, Kael opened his Galaxy Map and headed toward the nearest pale-gold planet.
He arrived two weeks later.
His Spiritual Sense instantly enveloped the entire world.
More than a million Golden Dragons lived on the planet. The three strongest had all reached the Planetary Realm, and their sleeves bore the crest of House Valerius.
They were clearly Valerius’s descendants.
After several spatial shifts, Kael forced his way through the mountain-protecting formation and appeared inside their Ancestral Hall.
“Someone breached the formation!”
“Who is it?”
“Who would dare?”
Spiritual light streaked across the sky as Golden Dragon cultivators converged on the Ancestral Hall from every direction.
Before long, a dense crowd had gathered outside. Every gaze settled on the young man in green robes standing with his hands clasped behind his back.
“Who are you?” demanded the man at the front. “Do you have any idea where you are?”
He was most likely the patriarch of the Valerius clan on this planet.
Kael slowly turned and regarded them with indifference.
Strangely, none of them recognized him.
Kael found that difficult to understand.
If these people truly were Valerius’s descendants, they should at least have heard of him. How could none of them recognize his appearance?
“It seems Valerius kept all of you well protected. You haven’t even heard of me?”
Kael made no attempt to conceal his cultivation. The pressure of the Galactic Realm rolled outward without restraint.
“I don’t care who you are,” the patriarch said. “Leave our Ancestral Hall immediately. Do you have any idea who our ancestor is?”
Although the man had reached only the Planetary Realm, he showed no fear of a human cultivator at the Galactic Realm.
“Oh? Your ancestor?” Kael raised an eyebrow. “You mean Valerius?”
“You know his name?”
The patriarch’s confidence faltered.
The casual disdain in Kael’s voice made one thing clear: he had no fear of Valerius.
“I have no interest in wasting words with you. Hand over everything of value your clan owns, then clear out enough rooms in this estate to house a large number of people.”
“You...” The patriarch’s eyes burned with fury. “Aren’t you afraid we’ll summon our ancestor?”
“Your ancestor?”
Kael took out two of the hardest scales from Valerius’s body and tossed them at the man’s feet.
“You mean him?”
“What?”
The patriarch recoiled, then quickly crouched beside the scales. He leaned closer and took several quick breaths.
“Valerius!”
His voice broke into a howl.
“These scales came from Valerius!”
Golden Dragons possessed an extraordinarily keen sense of smell. These two scales had been among the toughest on Valerius’s body, and the patriarch recognized his ancestor’s scent immediately.
“Are you ready to make the necessary preparations now?” Kael asked, looking down at him.
“Preparations?”
The patriarch slowly rose and glared at Kael.
“All Golden Dragons, hear my command! Kill this murderer and avenge Valerius! Even if our entire clan is destroyed, we must wound him badly enough that he never recovers!”
His body expanded violently as he transformed into his true form.
The Golden Dragon cultivators behind him exchanged glances before transforming as well.
For a moment, Kael had no idea what to say.
He hadn’t expected Valerius’s descendants to possess so much courage.
“I had no intention of killing all of you. You chose this yourselves.”
A flame appeared within Kael’s right eye.
The Myriad Spirit Light swept across the crowd.
Every powerful Golden Dragon on the planet was severed at the waist.
Dozens of divine abilities contained within the beam erupted through their bodies and souls. Within moments, every one of them had fallen.
Kael opened his mouth, and three golden flying swords shot out. They streaked through the estate, hunting down every Golden Dragon who continued to resist.
It wasn’t long before the survivors finally surrendered. They knelt in orderly rows outside the Ancestral Hall.
With one hand clasped behind his back, Kael walked slowly through the kneeling crowd.
“Hm?”
He scanned the ground and beckoned.
A milky-white grub flew into his palm.
The Insect Race has infiltrated this place too?
The discovery filled Kael with unease.
He had intended to settle the humans who didn’t want to remain inside his Inner Cosmos on this planet.
But if members of the Valerius clan had already been infected, this world was clearly unsuitable.
Otherwise, Kael might return several decades later only to discover that every human he had left behind had been turned into a puppet. Settling them here would accomplish nothing.
“K-Kael, the rooms you requested have been prepared. This spatial ring also contains every treasure owned by our clan.”
An elderly Golden Dragon at the Great Ascension Realm approached and offered Kael the ring with both hands.
His arms remained rigid as he held it out, humiliation evident in the strained set of his mouth.
“I’ll take the ring. You can keep the rooms for yourselves.”
“What?” The elderly Golden Dragon’s anger flared. “You killed so many of our senior cultivators just to steal our treasures?”
“Yes.”
Kael met the old man’s gaze.
He continued staring until the Golden Dragon finally lowered his head.
“I’m leaving.”
Kael shot into the sky.
Once he was above the planet, he opened his Galaxy Map again.
Another pale-gold planet lay one light-hour away.
Kael put away the map and accelerated to his maximum speed.
He arrived seven days later.
Only a handful of Golden Dragons at the Great Ascension Realm lived on this planet.
Kael wasted no time. He descended directly into their Ancestral Hall.
The pride of the Golden Dragons seemed limitless. As expected, they refused to surrender their treasures.
Since they chose to resist, Kael killed every senior member of their clan and spared only those willing to obey.
What he discovered afterward left him deeply unsettled.
Parasitic grubs infested the heads of all three Great Ascension Golden Dragons he examined.
“Perhaps the Northguard Galaxy will be safer.”
Kael traveled to the planet’s stellar teleportation array and transported himself to the border between the Sunlance and Northguard Galaxies.
The cultivators guarding the array recognized him immediately. Every one of them fled into the surrounding woods and hid, too terrified to show themselves.
Kael scoffed but made no attempt to kill them. He stepped onto his flying sword and headed toward the Northguard Galaxy.
Six months later, he finally crossed the border.
The moment he entered the galaxy, his Astral Compass began flashing wildly.
Northguard City had clearly tried to contact him countless times during his absence.
Kael immediately sent a thread of Origin Power into the compass.
“What do you want?”
“It seems there’s no place for you at Sunlance Academy either,” Faron Voss said from the other side. “Are you interested in becoming Northguard City’s chief alchemist?”
“I’ve already told you I’m not interested. Faron, if you dare harm the human race, I’ll retaliate against your family.”
“Is that so?” Faron’s voice remained calm. “Then I’m afraid you’ve miscalculated. The moment you moved against House Voss, I recalled every one of my descendants to Northguard City. If you think you’re capable of harming them, come here and face me.”
Kael’s jaw tightened.
He had no fear of Faron himself, but the Lord of Northguard City was another matter.
“I have no interest in wasting words with you either,” Faron continued. “For every day you refuse to return to Northguard City, I will kill three thousand human cultivators. You should decide quickly. Otherwise, every elite human cultivator in Northguard City will soon be dead.”
