Chapter 19

Stone

Two months had gone by since that day at the crash pad when Indie told me she loved me. Two months since I’d said it back. Two months since everything changed.

I gripped the steering wheel of my Bentley, cruising down the highway toward the estate. The sun was starting to set, painting the sky in shades of orange and purple. I had the windows cracked, letting the cool evening air flow through the car.

My mind was on everything and nothing all at once.

Business had been running smooth as hell lately. No more robberies. No more security breaches. Money was flowing in from all the traps, product was moving, and my soldiers were staying in line. Everything was operating exactly how it should.

But that original leak that led to the shipment robbery months ago still hadn’t been identified. And that shit made me uncomfortable. I didn’t like not knowing who the fuck had been running their mouth in my organization.

Wes was still putting in work. Still showing up and handling his business. But something about that nigga still felt off to me. Maybe it was paranoia. Maybe it was instinct. Either way, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t right with him.

But Kenzo had been keeping an eye on him, and we still didn’t have solid proof. I trusted Zo to handle it. So, for now, Wes was still breathing. Still working. Still being watched.

I switched lanes, passing a slow-moving truck, my mind drifting to Indie. It always drifted to Indie these days. After we said “I love you” to each other, I’d started letting her come to LA once a week to see Aurora.

I understood that she needed it. Needed to get out of the estate, see her best friend, feel like a normal person for a few hours. And I couldn’t deny her that.

Not when she looked at me with those big brown eyes and demanded it, refusing to take no for an answer. Not when making her happy had become the most important thing in my life.

So, every week, I had Javion and Troy take her to the city. They stayed with her the whole time. They were armed, alert, and ready to handle any threat. In this game, niggas would try to come for her to get at me, and I couldn’t let that shit happen.

Sometimes Ishmael went with her. Got to see his old friends from his previous school, hang out in the city for a bit. The lil’ nigga was doing good. Better than I expected, honestly. He’d adjusted to his new school, was making friends, staying out of trouble. And he respected me now.

I could see it in the way he looked at me, the way he talked to me. He knew I’d spared his life when I didn’t have to. Knew I was taking care of him and his sister. He was grateful.

I took the exit toward the estate, my thoughts still on Indie.

She had me wrapped around her finger in a way I never thought was possible. Never thought I’d allow.

I was Stone. Maximus “Stone” Wright. The coldest, most ruthless nigga in Southern California. I didn’t do feelings. I didn’t do attachments. Didn’t let anyone get close enough to have power over me.

Indie was the one soft spot in my life. The one weakness. If she wasn’t happy with me, I couldn’t even relax until we were back good. I couldn’t focus on business, couldn’t think straight. It fucked with my head in a way nothing else ever had.

I couldn’t believe I’d let someone have this much control over my emotions. That I’d allowed myself to fall this deep. But here I was, completely in love with this woman.

I was hooked on everything about her. The way she smiled, the way she breathed, the way she existed. I’d kill for her without hesitation. Die for her if it came to that. And that realization that I’d put her above everything, even my own survival, should’ve scared me but it didn’t.

Because loving Indie felt right. It felt like the only real thing in my life.

I pulled up to the gate of the estate, nodding at the armed guards as they opened it for me.

Home.

I parked the Bentley in the driveway and killed the engine, sitting there for a moment.

Tonight was the night. I was going to tell Indie and Ish about the trip I’d been planning. A surprise getaway to St. John in the Virgin Islands. Four days at a private villa with a full staff. We were flying out on a private jet this weekend.

I’d invited Kenzo, who was still messing around with Aurora. That nigga was sprung as hell over her, which was perfect because I knew Indie would want her best friend there. Indie didn’t know yet, and neither did Ish. But I was about to tell them.

I grabbed my phone and got out of the car, heading toward the front door.

This was going to make Indie happy and making her happy was all I cared about right now.

I walked inside and immediately heard voices coming from the dining room. Indie and Ish. They were already eating.

I made my way down the hall and stepped into the dining room to find them sitting at the table, plates full of the meal Brady had prepared.

Indie saw me enter, her face lighting up with a smile that made me smile right back.

She was wearing a simple outfit. Black shorts and an oversized cream-colored sweater that hung off one shoulder, showing smooth brown skin.

Her hair was pulled up into a messy bun, a few curls framing her face.

She looked beautiful. She always looked beautiful.

“Hey, baby,” she said, her voice warm.

“What’s good,” I said, walking over to Ish first.

I dapped him up, and he returned it with a grin.

“What’s up, Stone.”

“You good?” I asked.

“Yeah, I’m good. Just telling Indie about this project we got in history class.”

I nodded, then turned to Indie.

She was still sitting in her chair, looking up at me with those big brown eyes. I reached down, grabbed her by the arm, and pulled her up out of her seat.

“Stone—” she started, but I cut her off by pressing my lips to hers.

The kiss was deep. Possessive. Full of everything I felt for her. When I pulled back, she was breathless, her cheeks flushed.

“Damn, man,” Ish groaned from his seat. “Y’all gotta do that every time?”

I glanced at him and saw the little smile on his face despite his complaint. He was used to it by now. I smirked and let Indie sit back down, then took my seat at the head of the table.

Brady had outdone himself tonight with tomahawk steak, garlic mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, and fresh rolls.

I grabbed my fork and started eating while Ish picked up where he left off, talking about his history project.

“So, we gotta do this whole presentation on the Civil Rights Movement,” Ish said. “Me and my partner are doing ours on Malcolm X.”

“That’s dope,” Indie said, nodding. “Malcolm X was a real one.”

“Facts,” Ish agreed. “I’m excited about it. My partner’s cool too. We been working on it after school.”

I listened, chewing my food, watching the two of them interact. This was what I’d given them: stability, safety... a home.

Ish was thriving at his new school, and Indie was finally able to relax without worrying about bills or keeping a roof over their heads. I’d taken care of all that. Seeing them so happy, comfortable, and at ease made everything worth it.

“What about you, Indie?” I asked, cutting into my steak. “You been working on any new designs?”

Her face lit up.

“Yeah, actually. I’ve been sketching some new pieces. I’m thinking about doing a whole collection inspired by old Hollywood glamour. Like, think Dorothy Dandridge and Eartha Kitt, but with a modern twist.”

I nodded, watching her talk with her hands, her excitement palpable. She’d been spending more time in that design room I’d set up for her. Finally pursuing the dream she’d put on hold for so long.

“That sounds nice, baby,” I said. “You gon’ let me see when you done?”

“Of course,” she said, smiling. “You’re my biggest supporter.”

Ish snorted. “More like yo’ sugar daddy.”

Indie’s mouth dropped open, and she threw a roll at him.

“Shut up, Ish!”

He laughed, dodging the roll. “I’m just saying! Stone got you draped in designer everything. You living in a mansion. You got guards following you around. You ain’t even got no job. If that ain’t sugar daddy vibes, I don’t know what is.”

I chuckled, shaking my head.

“Watch yo’ mouth, lil nigga,” I said, but there was no heat in my voice.

Ish grinned. “My bad, Stone.”

We kept eating, the conversation flowing naturally. This was what I’d built. A family. Something I never thought I’d have. I wasn’t letting it go.

After a while, I set my fork down and leaned back in my chair, looking at both of them.

“Yo, I got something to tell y’all,” I said.

Indie looked up, her eyebrows raised. “What?”

Ish stopped chewing, his attention on me.

I let the moment hang for a second, then said, “We taking a trip to St. John this weekend.”

Indie’s eyes went wide. “What? Where’s St. John? Me and Ish don’t have passports.”

“Ya’ll won’t need one. It’s in the Virgin Islands,” I told her. “Private jet. Four days at a villa. Full staff. The whole shit.”

Indie’s mouth dropped open, and she just stared at me like she couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Ish, on the other hand, was grinning like a kid on Christmas.

“You for real?” he asked. “We ‘bout to hop on a PJ?”

“Yeah,” I said. “And you can bring one friend from school if you want.”

Ish’s grin got even wider. “Bet! I’m bringing my girl. This shit gon’ be lit!”

Indie’s head snapped toward him. “Your what?”

Ish looked at her, suddenly sheepish. “My girlfriend.”

“Since when do you have a girlfriend?” Indie demanded.

“Since like... a month ago,” Ish said, rubbing the back of his neck. “Her name’s Destiny. She goes to my school.”

Indie blinked, clearly processing this information. I smirked, amused by her reaction.

“You didn’t tell me you had a girlfriend, Ish,” she said, her tone somewhere between surprised and annoyed.

“I mean, I was gonna tell you,” Ish said. “It never came up.”

Indie shook her head, but I could see the smile tugging at her lips.

“Okay, well, I wanna meet her before we go on the trip.”

“You will,” Ish said. “I’ll bring her by this week, if it’s cool with Stone.” He looked at me.

“It’s aight,” I said.

Indie turned her attention back to me, her eyes still wide with excitement.

“Stone, are you serious? We’re really going to the Virgin Islands?”

“Yeah, baby,” I said. “Kenzo and Aurora coming too.”

Her face lit up even more. “Aurora’s coming?”

“Yeah. Kenzo gon’ let her know today.”

Indie stood up from her chair and walked over to me, her smile wide.

“Thank you,” she said softly.

“Anything for you, baby,” I said, pulling her down onto my lap.

She wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me, slow and sweet. When she pulled back, she was still smiling.

“I can’t believe we’re going on vacation,” she said. “I’ve never been on a private jet before.”

“Well, now you are,” I said, my hand resting on her thigh. “And you gon’ love it.”

Ish was still grinning across the table. “Man, this is crazy. I can’t wait to tell Destiny.”

“Go call her,” I said. “Let her know what’s up.”

Ish didn’t hesitate. He stood up, grabbed his phone, and headed out of the dining room, already dialing. Then it was just me and Indie. She was still sitting on my lap, her arms around my neck, her body warm against mine.

“You really planned all this?” she asked, her voice soft.

“Yeah,” I said. “I wanted to do something special for you. For us.”

She stared at me for a long moment, her eyes searching mine. Then she said, “I love you, Stone.”

“I love you too, baby.”

She kissed me again, deeper this time, her fingers sliding up the back of my neck. I felt my dick start to harden beneath her, and I knew where this was going. Indie pulled back slightly, her lips brushing against mine.

“I need it, daddy,” she whimpered, grinding down on my lap.

My pupils dilated.

Hearing her beg like that, and calling me daddy while she did it, did something to me. Made me lose all sense of control.

“Yeah?” I said, my voice low and rough. “You need it?”

“Yes,” she breathed, grinding harder.

I gripped her hips, lifting her just enough to free my dick from my jeans. She didn’t waste any time. She pushed her shorts and panties to the side and slid down, taking me deep.

We both groaned.

“Fuck,” I muttered, gripping her ass in both hands.

She started moving, bouncing on my dick while I fucked up into her from below. The sound of our bodies smacking together filled the dining room.

“This what you needed, baby?” I growled, watching her face. “You needed daddy dick?”

“Yes, ooh, I needed it!”

“Fuck. I love this pussy,” I said, my grip on her ass tightening. “I love you, baby.”

“I love you, too,” she moaned, her head falling back.

I kept fucking her, hard and deep, my hands guiding her movements. She was so wet, so tight, so perfect. I could feel her getting close, her pussy gripping me.

“Come for me,” I commanded. “Drown this dick.”

She cried out, her body shaking as she came. That pushed me over the edge. I came inside her, groaning her name, holding her tight against me.

We stayed like that for a moment, our bodies still connected. Then I heard footsteps. And Ish’s voice.

“Man, what the fuck? At the dinner table?”

Indie’s eyes went wide, and she buried her face in my neck, mortified. I couldn’t help it. I laughed.

Ish was standing behind my chair, far enough away that all he could see was Indie straddling me, but close enough to know exactly what we’d been doing.

“Yo, that’s nasty,” Ish muttered. “I ain’t know Brady had booty meat on the menu.”

I heard his footsteps retreating as he walked away, mumbling to himself.

Indie lifted her head and looked at me, her face flushed with embarrassment.

“That’s not funny,” she hissed. “My brother just saw me sitting on your dick!”

I laughed harder, unable to stop myself.

She smacked my chest. “Stone!”

“What?” I said, still grinning. “He didn’t see nothing.”

“He knew what we were doing!”

“So?” I said, shrugging. “He almost seventeen. He know what sex is.”

Indie groaned and buried her face in my neck again. I wrapped my arms around her, still chuckling.

“You embarrassed, baby?”

“Yes!” she said, her voice muffled against my skin.

I kissed the top of her head, my amusement fading into something softer.

“Don’t be,” I said quietly. “Ain’t nothing to be embarrassed about. You mine. I’m yours. That’s all that matters.”

She lifted her head and looked at me, her eyes searching mine, and then she smiled. A small, genuine smile that made something inside me go soft.

“I love you,” she said again.

“I love you too, Indigo.”

I meant it with everything in me. This woman had changed my life. Made me feel things I never thought I’d feel. And I’d do whatever it took to keep her happy.
