52. Noah
She’s laughing.
It’s amazing to me how she can just sit there, laugh, and look so fucking beautiful. Her entire face glows like light does when it’s surrounded by darkness.
She’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever laid my eyes on.
Dani keeps telling me how she worries about me all the time but what about the other way around? I worry about her too. All. The. Time. I knew something like this was going to happen. It was bound to happen. That’s what happens when you have anxiety. It’s always bound to explode out of you when you least expect it.
“You know what my favorite color is?”
Her lips struggle to form a smile. “What’s your favorite color?”
I lean closer to her.
Her freckles are prominent. Long, thick black eyelashes flutter upwards. Her pupils exist when I get this up close and personal. It’s hard to see them from a normal distance because her eyes are the color of dark chocolate, but without the bitterness.
“Dark brown,” I say with no hesitation.
“Hmm, really?” She smiles into my mouth.
“Do you know how gorgeous you are?”
“Enough with the compliments already.”
“It’s never enough. You’re going to be showered with a shit ton of compliments, whether you like it or not. Deal with it.”
Her lips graze mine.
It doesn’t even bother me that her breath smells like scallions and scrambled eggs because mine probably smells exactly the same way.
I cup her face and kiss her.
When I kiss Danielle Solomon, my heart rate increases tenfold. Adrenaline kicks into high gear. And the way my kisses make her breathless only makes me want to kiss her even more.
She makes me breathless.
Oxygen enters my bloodstream as I breathe out carbon dioxide.
When her tongue dances against mine, I groan hard and deep. “Don’t. Do. That.”
There’s a wicked look in her eye, telling me she’s not going to listen to me. She’s going to continue to torture me with her soft, pink lips and her dancing tongue.
Fine with me, but she’s going to regret it, especially after I’m done with her.
I get up off the floor with her hand in mine, taking her with me.
“Where the hell are you taking me?” She whines.
Walking into her bedroom, I take her over to the white plush chair in between her bedside table and dresser.
Her lips pucker out enough that a cute little smile lights up her face. She sits on my lap, her body aligning horizontally and tucking loose tendrils of hair behind her ears. “We can’t be one of those couples who have sex all the time.”
“Wait, since when are we a couple?” I ask.
I’ve been wanting to ask her to be my girlfriend, but I’ve been wanting to wait because this is all happening so damn fast.
She bites her top lip while her eyes search around the room in order to avoid eye contact with me. “It just slipped out. I didn’t mean anything by it. Really. I?—”
I cut her off, even though I adore it when she rambles. “Dani.”
“What?” Her tone is high-pitched.
“Look at me, Sunshine.”
She turns towards me, looking up at me with those big brown eyes. Embarrassment is written all over her face, but she’s not blushing. “What are we if we’re not a couple?” she asks, biting her lip.
“It’s hard to be a couple when I haven’t asked you if you want to be my girlfriend yet.” I wait to see if she responds, but she doesn’t. She’s waiting for me to ask her the question, so I ask it. “Do you want to be my girlfriend?” I grin.
After last night, I assumed we’re dating, but I’ve learned to not make assumptions when it comes to Danielle Solomon.
“Eh,” she says.
“What the hell do you mean by eh?”
She laughs like an evil villain does in a cartoon movie. “Ah, it’s so easy to get a reaction out of you.”
“You want to know what else is easy?”
“What else is easy?”
“The fact that I can make you blush with one glance and laugh by saying the dumbest shit to you. But, my favorite is how fast I can make you come.”
I’m running my fingers along her arm which is prickling me with the goosebumps forming on her skin.
She’s breathing heavily.
Oh fuck, she’s moaning deep from the base of her throat.
Just kill me now.
I’ve never heard a woman moan like that in my entire life. Hearing Dani moan like that is making me lose my goddamn mind.
My hard-on is massive. The more she lets those insane moans escape her hypnotizing mouth, the bigger it gets.
“Shall we test my theory?” I raise my eyebrows up and down over and over to get my point across.
“I have a feeling I can’t say no since I can feel you under my ass.”
“Hard not to do considering all you’re wearing is underwear.”
“Don’t start with me,” she says.
“I’m not starting anything.”
“Will you kiss me before I change my mind?” Irritation trickles throughout her tone.
“You can always change your mind with me.”
“Stop being sweet and just fuck me, Noah.”
The mouth on this woman.
“You know I want to, but…” I trail off.
“Oh, trust me. I know you want to.”
She slips her freezing cold hand up my shirt. Her fingers trace the outlines of my abs.
“Your hand feels like you just stuck it inside a freezer.” I take her hand and place it in between both of mine, rubbing my hands to help warm it up.
“How is it you can switch from being incredibly sweet and cute to irresistibly charming and sexy in a matter of seconds?”
“You think I’m sexy?” I smirk.
“That’s what you picked up from all that?”
“Dani, you’re so unbelievably sexy it blows my fucking mind.” I trace the edge of her jawline with my thumb making my way down to her neck.
My lips meet the smooth texture of her neck.
Before I get to work, she stops me. “No more hickies!”
“I need to even it out. It’ll look weird as hell if you have a hickey on one side of your neck and not on the other.”
She rolls her eyes, grinning so big it makes my heart grow ten sizes. “You’re so full of shit, making dumb excuses when I know you’re just going to continue doing it anyway. You don’t need to mark me up to stake your claim on me, Noah. I’m already yours.”
“Not if you don’t want me to and not if you’re uncomfortable. By the way, I’m not staking my claim on you. Wait…hold on. You’re already mine?”
“Of course, I’m already yours. I’ve always been yours.” Her hand works its way up to my chest. “Have at it, Heart Eyes. You know what?—”
I interrupt her. “You talk too much.”
I shut her up by crashing into her mouth with mine.
How the hell am I going to survive without being able to touch her around everybody today? This is going to drive me insane. Just her being in close proximity to me makes my skin buzz.
I walk over to the bed, sitting on it. I move so my back is against the pillows.
She sits there, staring at me.
“Come here,” I command.
She struts over to me, jumping onto the bed and landing right on top of me.
I grunt. “I said come here. Not jump on me and crush the shit out of me.”
“My bad.” She laughs.
She’s sitting on my lap, facing my direction. “Lift your arms for me, Heart Eyes.”
She takes off my shirt and throws it onto the bedside table.
She goes to take off her tank top, but I stop her. “Allow me.”
“I’m totally capable of taking off my own shirt.”
“I know, but you’re going to have to get used to the fact that there are people who want to take care of you. Let me take care of you.”
I free her hair out of that high ponytail of hers. It all falls down, framing her face like a painting that belongs in The Louvre.
“Why did you just do that?”
“You’re beautiful when your hair is up, but you’re even more stunning when your hair is down.”
She smiles, her cheeks getting redder with each fleeting moment.
“Hey, um…There are these scenes in Flawless that I haven”t been able to get out of my head since I read them.”
Her lips twitch before she wets them with her tongue. “Ah, the whipped cream scenes.”
“How the hell did you know that’s what I was talking about so damn fast?”
“I haven’t been able to get those scenes out of my head either.”
I stare at her in a way that causes her look away from me.
When she meets my gaze again, she kisses the tip of my nose. “Unfortunately, we don’t have whipped cream.”
“Lucky for you, I have an even better idea of what we can use to replace the whipped cream.”
