Re: Discover Hunting and Baby Animals Easter version

Hi Harry,

Ahead of Monday’s Product Development, can I just check that you are still absolutely set on the Easter Discover publication?

In our conversation yesterday, you mentioned wanting to solely use material from Hunting for Boys and Baby Animals for Girls and turn this into a generic Easter animals book for boys and girls with a focus on baby animals – namely puppies, countryside (no religion) and an emphasis on fun and chocolate.

I mentioned that this could be tricky. Have you had a chance to think about this further?

KR,

Cara

No need to think further. Just pull out the pictures of baby animals and remove the dead animals, JJ and old-fashioned kids. Why haven’t your team done anything? Update please.

Re: Discover Hunting and Baby Animals Easter version

Dear Harry,

All the team have been working super hard.

Key point is that there is limited material we are able to pull from the original publications. Most images are dated and feature children in 70s outfits and hairstyles, and I’m afraid it’s very hard to remove unwanted parts of photos as these are pre-digital images.

If this is definitely the direction you are pursuing, I urge you to factor in a photo shoot.

Attached are some mock-ups from Design. Also, Alice has put together a flat plan of the content.

KR,

Cara

Let’s use stock images.

Thanks

Re: Discover Hunting and Baby Animals Easter version

Dear Harry,

There are very few stock images for Easter dogs – see attached from Stephen (copying in Stephen and Alice).

However, Alice has access to puppies so we can produce at cost (plus travel which is minimal) – again see attached.

To be clear, have met with the team several times over last couple of days and exhausted all options; this is very much our best route. Strongly suggest we exploit this exciting opportunity kindly offered by Alice.

KR,

Cara.

Look Cara, I do n’t know what you’re missing here: jazz up the originals. Think of the pro fi ts.

Harry

I am thinking of the profits. End results would be poor, plus we need to distance the product from the JJ scandal. Multiple images need replacing, and generating our own is an easy win with clear profit margins, if the Discover series is the way you are set on going.

Can you please take to Guy and get us the go-ahead?

No.

In good news, Guy Carmichael says his wife is away next weekend so we may be able to meet up… At least that’s something to look forward to in the wettest February ever.

I am grateful for:

Cara (and actually, I’m coming to realise that the Bulgari watch quite suits her. Apparently she bought it as a present to herself on her fortieth)
