Chapter 9

A’yanna Joseph

Two Months Later

“Who's going first?” I asked with one hand on my hip and the other holding my glass of wine.

Leave it to my sister to do the most dramatic stuff on this planet.

This girl was in denial so bad about her being pregnant that it was ridiculous.

Zaylee wasn’t huge and showing, but her stomach was noticeable, hard to the touch, and roundness was forming.

I had no clue who Zaylee thought she was fooling other than herself.

The moment she called me with this crazy ass idea, I laughed in her damn face.

Seriously, she wanted Solana and me to take a pregnancy test with her like we were the ones in denial about the shit.

I wasn’t pregnant, I had no doubt in my mind about it.

Ever since the last time I fucked Niko, I’d gone cold turkey from dick.

Clearly, my mind got too cloudy when a fine nigga with a big dick and lethal tongue game came along.

In my mind, that meant I needed to focus on myself and get Yanna right.

The Yanna I knew didn’t cry over niggas, but Niko’s ass had a bitch really crying like she was weak.

Fuck him. I had to tell myself that everyday to keep the withdrawals at bay.

Niko and I fucked a lot in the short time we dealt with each other, but I’d faithfully had my period for the last two months.

So, I knew I had nothing to worry about.

Now, Solana… I wasn’t sure what she had going on.

Zaylee introduced us a few months ago, and the three of us hit it off.

Normally, I had a hard time getting along with females.

All that catty petty drama, I didn’t fuck with that stuff.

Solana wasn’t that type at all, and I fucked with it.

We’d been talking on the phone a lot, and I could say I enjoyed our conversations to the fullest. Solana thought she was slick like Zaylee.

She was messing with Marlo, Mikael’s older brother.

Let them tell it, they were just friends, but I called bullshit.

Whenever Marlo was around Solana, he was all over her ass like white on rice.

I didn’t know any best friends that acted like that.

A blind man could see Marlo and Solana had something deeper going on.

So, her ass might have been pregnant too.

I wasn’t trying to be anybody's mama no time soon. All I wanted to do was be a fine auntie who bought all the toys and candy. Then sent the babies back home hopped up on sugar.

“I don’t even see why she wants us to take these tests with her. Clearly, she doesn’t need it.” Solana snickered from her seat next to Zaylee on her couch. Zaylee cut her eyes over to Soloana.

“Who you telling?” I messily agreed with Solana, and we shared a laugh at Zaylee’s expense.

“Both of you ho’s can kiss my ass, and since you wanna run yo’ mouth so much, you go first,” Zaylee said, tossing the pregnancy test at me.

I wasn’t stunting Zaylee’s little fake attitude. Nobody told her ass to keep letting Mikael fuck on her unprotected.

“No problem, boo,” I said childishly, blowing a kiss Zaylee’s way, and she flipped me off as I twisted past her into the bathroom.

I pulled my pants down, popping a squat on the toilet.

I placed the test between my legs as I forced myself to pee.

Like always when I was alone, I couldn’t stop myself from thinking about Niko.

The nigga really played me like a fucking duck, but I really couldn’t be mad at nobody but myself.

I let the way he made me feel cloud my judgement because I knew fucking better.

No matter how deep our connection felt, it was based off of us fucking.

Niko had never tried to show me anything different other than him wanting to fuck me.

How he made me feel was irrelevant when his actions didn’t align.

What really fucked me up was the fact that I knew all of that shit, but I still found myself missing Niko.

He had a way of looking at me and making me feel like everything was going to be okay.

I trusted him more than I trusted most. Niko made me safe when I was with him.

I think that was one of the reasons it was so easy for me to go along with what he said.

I hated that I still felt anything but anger towards him.

In the past, it was nothing for me to cut a nigga off.

It didn’t matter how much time I spent with them if I was done, I was done.

It was crazy to say, but I missed Niko more than I did Will.

Honestly, Will was an afterthought. Ignoring Will was almost second nature.

Blocking his number didn’t faze me at all.

Yet, I still hadn’t found the courage to block Niko’s number.

A small part wanted him to call me and plead for my forgiveness.

Then I could tell him to kiss my ass and keep it moving.

Finishing up, I wiped myself then I wrapped the test up in toilet paper then made my way out as I sang “Nexxxt!

I laughed as I made my way back to my seat.

Only Zaylee would have me doing some goofy ass shit like this.

But I loved my sister to death. Our dad might have not been shit.

That didn’t stop us from being close. Zaylee had been my best friend since we were little girls.

Zaylee’s mom made sure she had relationships with all of us.

She was a better woman than I was, nevertheless I was thankful for her kind heart.

I hated Nate, and I couldn't say I felt any sadness since he died. However, I was thankful he’d made my siblings. Even Tahiry’s little bratty ass.

Solana got up from her seat next. She walked into the bathroom returning a few minutes later taking her seat back next to me. “Go ‘head,” Solana said, shooing Zaylee to the bathroom.

Zaylee’s childish ass was moving at a snail’s pace. I giggled because she was really finna drag this shit out.

“If you don’t hurry yo’ ass up. I’m not finna play with you,” I said, getting up, grabbing Zaylee’s arm, and playfully dragging her to my bathroom.

“Chop, chop, preggo. I’m tryna make it to the liquor store.

I need another bottle of wine,” I teased, sticking my tongue at Zaylee because she couldn’t drink.

“I wanna go, I need a couple of them before I go home and have to deal with Mr. Grumpy,” Solana groaned. Marlo had been on his good bullshit, and my girl had been stressed behind his funky ass.

Zaylee rolled her eyes so hard they looked like they were going to pop out of socket. “You bitches need to go to AA not the liquor store,” she playfully said, with a fake pout on her lips.

“And you need to be making a doctor's appointment instead of taking a pregnancy test. But here we are,” I smartly replied with the quickness, snaking my neck from side to side.

Zaylee went inside the bathroom slamming the door dramatically, like we were supposed to care. This was her damn house; if she wanted to tear it up, she could.

“That girl is fired.” I chuckled, walking back over to the couch sitting down adjacent to Solana.

“Who you telling? But we just as crazy going along with it.” Solana sighed, sitting her phone down.

“I’ma rider. If my sister wanna be delusional, I’ma be delulu with her too.”

“Period.” Solana easily agreed. That was one of the reasons I found myself liking Solana.

She was loyal, had a pure heart, and wasn’t judgemental.

With all that my girl had been through, you would think life would have hardened her, but nope.

Solana didn’t let life change her. She stayed true to herself no matter what.

“Lo’ still walking around with his ass on his shoulders?” I asked, Solana hadn’t really smiled as much as she usually did.

“Fuck him. He really getting on my nerves. He needs to go find Fallon and take his anger out on her ass. I swear if it wasn’t for Mason and Mallory, he’d have to get the fuck on.” Solana huffed out a deep breath.

“You better than me ‘cause them kids and him would have been sitting outside.” I snickered while sipping my wine.

“I can’t do that to them. Their entire lives have been uprooted because of their trifling ass mama. But something has to give, and soon,” Solana said with annoyance in her tone.

“It will. If Lo’ don’t wanna get his shit together, that’s his loss. You the prize, Solana,” I reassured her, and she smiled at me.

“Let’s get this over with.” Zaylee loudly groaned as she loudly raged from the bathroom.

She was moving like she weighed 600 pounds.

I shook my head at Zaylee’s overly dramatic self.

Zaylee stood in front of her coffee table looking between me and Solana.

“On the count of three, we’re going to all look. ”

We both picked up our test off the table, when Zaylee started counting. “One…Two…Three.”

I wanted to pass the fuck out as I stared down at the two pink lines. This wasn’t fucking real life. I wasn’t fucking pregnant. Zaylee’s ass had to be playing a fucking prank on me, and this shit wasn’t funny.

“Bullshit,” I shrieked, standing to my feet, smacking my forehead with an open palm. I felt like I was about to start hyperventilating. “Ain’t no fucking way. Zaylee, please tell me these are joke tests or something. This shit says positive!"

“I thought you wasn’t fucking?” Zaylee skeptically questioned me with her eyes squinted. She was worried about the wrong shit. I hadn’t been fucking for the last six weeks, so I wasn’t lying about that.

“Girl, this nigga gon’ kill me. Literally. This can’t be real life.” I paced back and forth.
