Chapter 13

A’yanna Joseph

A Couple Days Later

Niko didn’t know me very well, and it showed in his actions.

That’s why me and my baby got ghost on his ass again.

The nigga had the right one if he thought he was finna make a habit out of leaving me or my daughter hanging.

I was heated when he never showed for my doctor’s appointment.

He basically begged me to come to the fucking appointment in the first place.

You would think after all the shit talking Niko had done about wanting to be a part of this pregnancy, he’d make more of an effort to show up.

I really didn’t care for Niko to come to my appointments.

I’d made it through them this long without him being here, I could last another few weeks on my own.

I tried to explain to Niko all I expected from him was to take care of our daughter but he wasn’t trying to hear me.

He wanted insisted that he be present for the rest of my pregnancy.

Niko had it in his demnted head that since our daughter was growing in my bell he had to be around me.

I didn’t see it that way and I tried to make him understand how him pushing his way into my everyday life could send mixed signals between us.

Again, Niko paid me no mind, he claimed he wasn’t missing anymore of his daughters.

Which is why I took it so personally that he had the audacity to text me , not call, at the last minute telling me he’d meet me at my appointment.

Then have the balls to not show up, answer my calls, or respond to my text messages.

Yeah, he had me fucked up to the highest degree of being fucked up.

That’s why instead of going to my doctor's appointment, I rescheduled it for the following Monday and hired last minute movers to start moving my shit into my new house. Where I’d comfortably had my feet kicked up ignoring his calls.

Niko was pissed, and I didn’t give a flying fuck.

Eventually, I’d have to face the nigga, but it would be on my time.

Who is this? I frowned at the unknown number rolling across my screen. I debated not answering it. I figured it might have been Niko, trying to catch me off guard. Fuck it, I could piss him off some more.

“Hello, who is this?” I answered in a rude tone.

“Damn, who pissed you off?” I rolled my eyes hearing the familiar voice coming through my phone.

I smacked my lips as I asked. “Will? The hell you calling me for?”

“I’m tryna figure out why you acting like you hate a nigga? I ain’t even do shit to you. You ghosted me.” I don’t know what it was, but Will sounded like a big ass baby whining in my ear.

“Well, you should take a hint.” I sighed, rolling my eyes.

“Since when is it like that between us? You acting like you hate me?”

“I don’t hate you, Will.” I’m pregnant with your brother's baby, is what I wanted to tell him, but I kept my mouth shut.

I mean… I didn’t dislike or hate Will, I honestly felt no type of way towards him.

Our relationship had fizzled out long before he fucked my cousin or Niko came along.

Was I kind of salty because he fucked her?

Kind of, but it was more so an ego thing.

Reflecting back on our situation, I should have stopped dealing with Will years ago.

He never did it for me. He was just convenient for me because of my work schedule, and he didn’t complain too much.

Will just wanted a little bit of my time, and he was happy.

We both were wasting each other's time in the long run.

Our time together should have been a few months, nothing more.

“Then, what I do wrong?” Will asked, sounding clueless, and I had to look at my phone to see if he was being serious.

“I mean, you fucked my cousin for starters,” I sarcastically replied.

“Fuck that bitch. She fed me some bullshit, and I had a moment of weakness. I want you and not her.” Will tried to sound convincing, but I wasn’t going. There was no real sincerity in his voice.

“Will, shut the fuck up. It was never that deep for you to be pleading and begging. We had our little time together. Move on.” My attitude was in full affect. Hearing Will’s voice had officially got on my nerves.

“It might have not been for you, but I love you.”

I busted out laughing at Will. He was full of fucking shit. Never once in our entire history of being together had we ever said I love you.

“That’s fucked up. My feelings for you is a joke?” Will faked being hurt.

“Will, I’m not finna keep entertaining you. My baby hungry. What you really call me for?” I snickered into the phone, not even thinking about what I was saying.

“You got a baby?” Will asked bitterly.

“Not yet, I’m due in a couple months.”

“What the fuck, Yanna? You carrying my baby, and you wasn’t finna tell me?”

Again, I laughed at Will. The thought of carrying his baby seemed like the biggest joke to me. I hated to be so rude, but I would never carry that nigga’s baby.

“Boooyyy… bye! My daughter is most definitely not yours. We hadn’t had sex in months when I got pregnant. You don’t have nan’ baby over this way.” I giggled.

“Oh, yeah? You was on some ho’ shit this entire time.

Fuck you, real talk, Yanna. You probably pregnant by a nigga who don’t want yo’ stankin’ ass.

Dumb ass finna be penny pinching tryna raise a baby on yo’ own when you coulda been straight if you had my baby.

Bitches be slow, forreal!” Will snapped, and if he didn’t sound like a bitch, I might have taken his words more seriously, but I couldn’t.

“All that, big dawg,” I teasingly said into the phone.

It was no point in correcting Will. He’d find out eventually who my daughter belonged to.

“Yo’ perpin’[1][2][3] ass would have been handing me wads of dollars bills thinking you doing something.

Would have had me and my baby fucked up tryna depend on yo’ wanna be rich ass.

Niggas like you think they balling with they have a hundred dollars.

Broke ass. Get the fuck off my line.” I might have thought shit was funny all the time, but I’d never let a nigga talk crazy to me.

Will must have forgotten about that little stunt he pulled all those months back.

He must have thought ‘cause I didn’t say shit to him I was happy with that little change he gave me.

In reality, I didn’t care enough to say anything to him.

Free money was free money. I’d take it,but I saw Will for what he really was.

“Bitch, fuck you,” Will angrily replied,“I didn’t even want yo’ black ass any fucking way. I only hit you ‘cause Niko said he’d give me a band to let him fuck you and another if I brought you to him. I don’t give a fuck about yo’ ran-through-pussy-having ass.” Then Will hung up on me.

My jaw was on the ground. I had half a mind to call Niko and cuss him the fuck out.

A band to let him fuck me? My pussy was worth more than a band, and his stupid ass knew that.

He was losing his fucking mind to find me now ‘cause he knew this pussy was priceless. Bitch ass nigga. My fingers moved faster than my thoughts as I texted Niko cussing him out. Lord, I prayed my daughter came out looking like me. The way I’d been cussing Niko out, she was destined to look like the nigga.

Solana’s name rolled across as I hit the send button on my message to Niko.

“Hey,” I said slightly out of breath. I had gotten out my bed and was heading towards the living room.

“Oh, so you can answer everybody calls but the nigga who nutted in you?” Niko’s angry voice barked into the phone.

I pulled my phone from my face to double check that I hadn’t accidentally answered Niko’s call, but Solana’s name and picture was there.

“I been busy,” I smartly replied.

“I swear you wanna see a niggas other side. Stop playin’ with me, Yanna,” Niko threatened. I probably would have been more fearful if he knew where I lived or if I was in front of him, but since neither was my reality, I had an extra sense of security.

“I’m on whatever you on,” I replied, opening my fridge looking for something to eat.

“But you not, Yanna. You not built like me. You ain’t on the shit I’m on. You fuckin’ with my seed. A nigga a fuck around and really be on some other shit behind mine.”

“How you finna call my phone threatening me when you couldn’t even show up for an appointment you begged to come to? It don’t sound like you that concerned with our daughter to me.” Niko wasn’t finna try to intimidate me. Yanna didn’t bow down to no nigga.

“Do you think I would have missed that appointment if it wasn’t something important?”

“In my eyes, nothing's more important than my daughter.”

“That’s facts, but when I got another baby on the way too, a nigga can’t play favorites. You feel me? I’m not that type of nigga.”

My heart sank hearing that Niko was having another baby. I had to check myself because a bitch was feeling like I was about to cry. This had to be this baby making me feel some type of way. Niko wasn’t my nigga and never had been. He could have a million kids for all I cared. Fuck him.

“Okay, and am I supposed to care? My daughter is priority to me still.”

“For you, yeah, but my other baby mama was in the hospital. Her pregnancy is hi-“

“I don’t care, Niko,” I cut him off. He could save his stories for someone else.

“I ain’t ask you to care, but I’m trying to explain what the fuck happened. You wanna be in yo’ feelings and make this shit harder than it needed to be.”

“In my feelings? Yeah the fuck right. I’m Gucci over here.” Niko wasn’t about to know I was feeling some type of way about him having another baby on the way.

“So, you don’t give a fuck about me having another seed?” Niko skeptically asked. I could imagine the cocky smirk he probably had on his face right now.

“Why would I care about what you and another bitch has going on? You was never my nigga for me to care.”

“You say anything out yo’ mouth, huh?” Niko chuckled.

“I state facts, baby daddy.” I smacked my lips.

“You ain’t said shit, forreal, but we both know what it is.”

“Nigga, it wasn’t shit but us fucking.”

“But you carrying my seed though? You ain’t the type of broad to keep a nigga baby you just fuckin’.”

I was silent because this nigga had me. I had always told myself I wouldn’t have any nigga’s baby.

I didn’t want to repeat the same mistake my mama did with Nate.

I know what I went through having a sperm donor that didn’t give a fuck about me.

I never wanted that for my own kids. I kind of felt like having a father that didn’t want you was worse than not having a father at all.

Growing up, I struggled so much with the opposite sex because I used to look for my own value in a man.

I found myself latching on to the first nigga that paid me attention.

I kept getting my feelings hurt because niggas would see the weakness in me and want to take advantage of that.

It turned me off from fucking with niggas.

Until I realized I was the problem because I was attracting niggas that weren’t shit.

When I first found out I was pregnant, the first thing that came to mind was getting an abortion.

I wasn’t baby mama material; I had no desire to be anything close to it.

However, when I thought about Niko and the time we shared, a part of me felt guilty.

One of the things Niko told me was about his desire to be a dad.

It didn’t feel right to take that opportunity away from him without giving him the chance of knowing.

By the time I tried to tell Niko about the baby: I was already attached to our baby, so no matter how he was acting, I was keeping my baby.

“That’s what the fuck I thought.” Niko snickered childishly.

“Anyways, what you on my phone for, and where is Solana?”

“Shit, I’m tryna see where you at with my baby, and ‘Lana back at her house.”

“Then how you got her phone?”

“I took it. She prolly pissed, but I’m bring her phone back as soon as you tell me where you at,” Niko calmly said.

“You outta yo’ mind.” I shook my head, biting into the pickle I’d decided on eating until I figured out what I really wanted.

“I been told you that, but you ain’t tryna listen.”

“Un-huh, tell me anything,” I unenthusiastically replied. “I talked to yo’ funky ass brother.

“The fuck you answer his fuckin’ call for?” Nico angrily asked me with his voice raising.

“The fuck you offered that nigga a band to fuck me?” I replied matching his tone.

“You ain’t answer my question, Yanna.”

“I didn’t know it was him. He called me from a different number. Then got mad ‘cause I wasn’t going for his bullshit.”

“You should have hung up as soon as you heard that nigga’s voice.”

“Shoulda, coulda, woulda, my nigga. You should have never approached the nigga and mentioned me.”

“I was tryna see some shit,” Niko replied coolly.

“I don’t know what the fuck you wanted to see, but you got your brother cussed the fuck out, and his feelings hurt.”

“And that’s all it better be.”

“Nigga, bye. I don’t want that nigga, period. Not to mention I’m carrying your baby. I’m sure he’s gonna be pissed ‘bout that.”

That was one thing we hadn’t addressed was him telling Will. He wasn’t my brother, and as far as I was concerned, Will didn’t need to know anything about me. His bitch ass tried to sell my pussy for a couple bands like I was a weak bitch who would really go for that.

“I don’t give a fuck,” Niko rudely barked.

“Calm down, Kujo, don’t bite me. I really don’t care. That’s your brother.”

“Fuck all that. You moved, Yanna?” Niko asked, changing the subject.

“Yup.”

“For what?” Niko sucked his teeth.

I held back my giggle. I was having too much fun pissing him off. “I needed more space before our daughter comes.”

“Why you ain’t tell me? I woulda took care of that.”

“Appreciate it, but I got me. Go trick on yo’ other baby mama.”

“You don’t got y’all like I do, but you’ll figure that out eventually.”

“Okay, big spender.”

Niko blew out a deep breath before he said, “Where you, Yanna?”

“At home in my skin.”

“Yanna, if I have to find you on my own, I’m fuckin’ you up. Make this shit easy on yo’ self.”

“I’m trembling in my skin. I’ll see you later, Niko. I’ll come find you when I feel like you learned yo’ lesson.”

“Learn my lesson? Alright, Yanna, you got it.” Niko chuckled sinisterly. “Make sure that pussy well rested.”

“Fuck outta here, you not getting anywhere near my pussy. You better jack off to a memory.”

“Bet,” Niko calmly said, then ended the call.

I wasn’t stunting nothing Niko was talking about.

He didn’t run shit over here. He thought he could scare me into folding when he was in the wrong.

Had he come at me differently, I might have told him where I stayed.

Since he wanted to act crazy, I was gonna be with him and all his bullshit.

Obviously, I wasn’t going to go that much longer without seeing him, but he didn’t need to know that.
