Chapter 29
Niko Freeman
“This shit crazy,” Nakeem said, shaking his head as we filled him and Titon in on what Gretchen had told us.
“Not when you dealing with an evil bitch like Pricilla.” Titon chuckled adverting his attention outside the window.
“What we finna do?” Nakeem asked looking at me.
“All roads lead back to our mama. It’s only one thing to do,” I replied evenly.
I was still thinking over everything Gretchen had told us.
I think a nigga was numb at this point. I didn’t even want to understand why Pricilla or Sonni did what they did.
All I cared about was handling the situation at hand.
If Pricilla could move around and go on about her life I was cool with letting her live.
I doubted that was how this shit was finna go.
My mama wasn’t going to go through all this shit just to throw in the towel when we confronted her.
I’d made my peace with the possibility of having to end my mama’s life.
After having to kill Sonni there wasn’t anything else that could hurt me.
Killing Sonni had changed me. A lot of shit didn’t bother me the same way it should.
I felt like nothing else could break me after that.
But it was either him or us, I had to make that call.
“You think she gon’ be sitting in her house just waiting. If she planned all this she gotta know we on to her,” Ya’ said as he drove us around aimlessly.
“It’s a start,” Titon replied just as his phone started to buzz. “What up?” He said placing his phone on speaker.
“You still with yo’ brothers?” A’Milli’s voice came through the speaker.
“Yeah,” Titon replied.
“You know where 4523 Guyer Road is?”
“That’s where Sonni and Solana used to live,” I answered.
“I thought mama sold that house? Ain’t that what Solana said?” Nakeem asked.
“That Riker niggas phone is pinging from there. I know y’all looking for the nigga.” A’milli said.
“Preciate you, ima hit you back.” Titon said ending the call.
“To Sonni’s old crib?” Ya’ asked looking at me.
“Yup,” I responded.
Clearly my mama had been lying about a bunch of shit and at I knew the only way we’d get to the bottom of her actions was to confront her head on.
Our mama claimed she’s sold Sonni’s crib and put the money up for his kids.
I never had a real reason to doubt her words.
Aside from her being money hungry. I really didn’t think twice about her betraying us not because I thought she loved us but because we were her main source of money.
I figured that bought us some sort of loyalty from her.
But I guess that wasn’t enough to keep her satisfied.
She wanted everyone we had like she was the one who put in the work to get it.
“No matter what all four of us are coming outta here alive,” Ya’ said stealing glances in all of our directions.
“Facts,” Titon agreed.
“We not losing no more brothers,” Nakeem said.
“As long as we got each other’s back we good.” I said meaning every word I said.
After that we rode in silence, preparing for whatever Pricilla had planned for us.
This was déjà vu. This car ride made me think back to the night we confronted Sonni.
Expect the emotions were different. The pain and nervousness wasn’t here.
I eas more so ready to get this shit over with.
I was ready to be done with looking over my shoulder.
A nigga was ready to go legit after dealing with this.
The shit mutha fuckas were willing to do was beyond me.
I didn’t give a fuck about this shit enough to be dealing with it for the rest of my life.
I wanted to peace and to be able to raise Zuriyah in a healthy environment.
For the first time in my life I wanted to be able to give my all to my relationship.
Yanna deserved to be loved to the fullest. I couldn't half step with her. I wanted to give her my undivided attention and that couldn’t happen until I handled Pricilla.
When we finally pulled up to Sonni’s house, none of us hesitated to get out of the car. With our guns in hand we braced ourselves for the worst.
“We walking through the front door?” Titon asked.
“Ain’t no sense in sneaking.” I shrugged leading the way to the door.
I twisted the nob to see if it was open and it was.
Silently I opened the door, peek my head in cautiously I looked around making sure no one was waiting on the other side of the door.
The house looked empty from what I could tell, looking back I nodded for my brothers to follow me in.
One by one we filed through the door, going room from room making sure they were empty.
The entire house looked like nobody had been in here in months.
There wasn't any future, food nothing that indicated anybody had been here. The dust that covered all the surfaces had me thinking A’Milli might have been wrong.
“You think A’Milli know what he talking about?” Ya’ asked Titon what I had been thinking.
“He only speak on what he knows for sure.” Titon confidently replied. I trusted my brother, so if he trusted A’Milli’s word,I did too.
“We still got the upstairs too,” Nakeem nudge his head in the direction of the staircase.
I went first then my brothers fell in sync behind me. We filed up the stairs, light on our feet. The up stairs was different, good wrappers littered the ground. There were holes in the wall, clothes thrown all over the place and it had an odor to it. It was clear somebody had been living up here.
We checked the first bedroom, it was fully furnished, but a mess like the hallway.
The broken tv dangled by a cord from the mount on the wall.
Moving on from that room we check the next it was the same predicament as the last. The room at the end of the hallway was calling my name so instead of checking the other rooms I lead us straight to the door that used to be Sonni’s office.
I slowly twisted the knob, Ya’ had his gun extended pointing towards the door.
“Took you bitches long enough,” Our mama said as soon as the door opened. Dressed to impress in a red pantsuit outfit she sat behind a large oak wood desk. Like she thought she was a queen pin she had a Glock-19 resting to her left. she took a pull from her cigar then blew the smoke at us.
“Who the fuck you supposed to be Griselda Blanco?” Titon taunted our ma with a menacing smirk.
“I’ll be bigger than that bitch once I’m done with you mother fuckers,” Out mama bitterly spat.
“You that miserable you wanna kill yo’ sons over some money?” Nakeem asked stepping into the room, ice grilling our mama.
“Don’t bring yo’ yellow ass in here with all that high and mighty shit. You nigga act like y’all innocent. I know what the fuck y’all did.”
“The fuck you talking about Pricilla,” I asked.
Pricilla squinted her eyes at me, “Do you really think I don’t know you’re the ones who tried to kill my fucking son?
I knew as soon as I got the news you evil bastards we’re behind that’s shit!
” Pricilla yelled standing up form her seat, with her hands on the desk she leaned forward.
“All four of were jealous as soon as Sonni was born you knew he was destined to run this shit but you tried to keep that shit away from him!”
“No goofy ass girl we wanted to keep him out the streets. He had a future in the NFL and he woulda been there now had he not torn his ACL,” Yaro answered with his teeth clenched tightly.
“Pssst, ha! Y’all still think he tore his ACL? Funny. Riddle me this when did you ever recall him being in the hospital? Hmmm. You stupid fuckers believe anything.”
“He never tore his ACL?” I asked feeling myself getting heated.
“Nope, just a ploy to get you to put Sonni on.” She happily tittered.
I chuckled sinisterly, this shit was unbelievable.
Sonni and Pricilla had been playing in our face the entire time.
Back when Sonni had torn his ACL a nigga was so deep in the streets I didn’t have the mental capacity to look into that shit.
I didn’t have a fucking reason to believe Sonni was plotting on us.
That bitch ass nigga cried to me when he first told me about it.
“You a sick ass bitch forreal,” Titon spat.
“Ugh,” Pricilla scoffed rolling her eyes at Titon.
“I really wished they would have killed you instead of Riker. You’re just as worrisome as your sorry ass daddy was.
Too bad I had his bitch ass killed. Can’t wait until you get to meet him.
” Pricilla winked at Titon taunting him.
“Really you shouldn’t be alive. I only wanted to torture you since I couldn’t fuck with your bitch ass daddy anymore. ”
Pain flashed across Titon face but he quickly masked it. “Fuck you!” He gritted out.
“I’ll pass. You’re not my type. Just like Niko isn’t Maddie’s type. How does it feel knowing you got played by a slow bitch.”
“I ain’t get played by shit. You and that bitch ain’t did nothing but fuck y’all selves over.”
“That’s what you think hun?” I snickered.
“It’s what I know. Lucky for you she never had any intention of keeping any of those babies she was pregnant with.”
Maddie’s silence made sense. I wondered why she went from blowing my phone up to radio silence.
I told myself I’d wait before I made my move.
I wanted Maddie to play her hand first. I was ready to take my seed from her if she would have had the baby.
It was fucked up but I was happy Maddie didn’t have my seed.
I didn’t need another fucked tie to anybody in my life.
“Didn’t want the bitch to have my baby no way,” I shrugged my shoulders unbothered by the bullshit Pricilla was trying to throw my way.
She cocked her head to the side and a conning grin crossed her lips. “Well, what about that little bitch you love so much? Zuriyah is it?” Maddie’s on her way to kill that little bitch now!”
My heart drop and I froze, when she mentioned Zuriyah’s name. We all left our phone at home, so we couldn’t be tracked. There was no way for me to call Yanna and warn her.
“Not that you would be alive to make it to them,” Pricilla said winking then she hurriedly reached for her gun, she raised it at me.
She’d caught me off guard, I braced myself to be hit when the echoing of a gun sounded.
Pop!
Pop!
Pop!
I watched as Pricilla’s body violently shook being hit by each bullet. Until her lifeless body collapsed onto the desk. The gun hitting the ground with a loud thud. Blood dripped from her forehead, on of the bullets hit heat her right in her head
I looked over at Titon, who had an emotionless expression on his face. His arm still extended.
“We not losing another brother,” Titon robotically spoke.
“Let’s go,” Nakeem said pulling on my sleeve. “We gotta get to my niece." He urgently snapped at me, breaking me from my shock.
“We can handled her later.” Ya’ said as we raced out the door and down the steps.
Nakeem was the first out the door but he stopped suddenly.
“The fuck?” I barked looking into the eyes of Will as he held us at gun point.
“Surprise fuck niggas!” he said waving his gun erratically.
“I came here to kill two birds with one stone. Pricilla thought she could play me like I wouldn’t figure shit out but I did. I can kill y’all nigga then go take her old decrepit ass out.”
“Man, put that shit down you not no fucking killer,” Ya’ smirked shaking his head.
“Let me show you how much of a killer I am!” Will said pointing his gun at Ya’.
“You a little jealous bitch. You let Priscilla brain wash you for what?” I said trying to get his attention back on me. It would be a cold day in hell before I let Will kill one of my brothers.
“Bitch when I get done with you ima go fuck the shit out of Yanna and make that little brat call me daddy.” He grunted.
If it had been anybody else who said that I would have gave a fuck but Will was a bitch his words didn’t move me.
“You ain’t finna do shit put that gun down,” Nakeem barked at Will.
The moment he took his eyes off me I used that as an opportunity I rushed Will. Slamming him into the ground. I smashed the butt of my gun into his face. “Talk yo’ shit now bitch!” I screamed.
Will smiled a bloody smile, “Go head, kill me bitch. I know you get off on killing yo’ brothers. You fuck nigga.” Will growled dementedly.
That hit a cord with me. I loved my brothers and I’d never thought I would be the one to end their lives.
I had to live with that shit on my conscience for the rest of my life.
The love I felt for Sonni was no comparison between him and Will but could I really live with knowing I killed another one of my brothers?
“Yeah, you can’t do it pussy nigga. You weak just like yo-
“He ain’t gotta live with killing you,” Ya’ said stepping up cocking his gun shoot Will in his chest. “Fuck him, we gotta get to my niece.” Ya’ said pulling me up from Will’s dead body.
I was on autopilot as we all hopping in the car pulling off l, heading to my house.
God please…
