Chapter 36 #3

Fenn gasped, choking on their shared air before his hands gripped her hips and spun her back to him with a force that left her dizzy.

His arms locked around her waist, and his fingers slid beneath her tunic, pulling her tight to him as if he couldn’t bear the distance.

As his palms crawled up her belly to find her breasts, his lips searched her neck, nuzzling, biting, scorching her skin.

She arched into him, her head falling to the side, exposing the length of her throat to the hungry, frantic heat of his mouth.

“Bend over.” His teeth grazed her ear. “For tonight, at least, you are mine.”

“Yes,” she begged, feeling the hard length of him press into her rear as she reached for the rough wood of the fence, her hands bracing against it.

And, as if answering her plea, the light drizzle that had started earlier in the evening transformed into a torrential downpour, plastering his shirt to her back as he leaned over her.

“You’ll take everything I give you.” His rough fingers found her waistband, leaving her pants to fall free into the muddy water below as he reached between her legs.

“Anything.” She moaned as first one finger, then two, slid, searching, until they found her center, swollen, wet, and eager.

“That can’t be just the rain,” he murmured against her cheek, his fingers slipping into her teasingly slow while his thumb circled the sensitive edge of her entrance. “Tell me it’s all for me.”

“You know it is.” Her body was already quaking from the pressure building inside.

Each stroke, each crook of his fingers, brought her closer, his touch driving her to the brink. He knew her body too well, always hitting just the right spot to unravel her completely.

“Fenn, you had better…” She started, ready to demand or even beg, but before she could finish, she felt his cock push between her legs, his length nudging just enough to drive her mad with need.

“You want me?” His voice was a growl as he straightened and gripped her hips with bruising force, sliding himself along her but never entering.

“Please,” she panted.

He paused, chuckling as his fingers skimmed her lower back. “Then you’d better hold on, love.”

She barely had time to brace again before he slammed into her, driving her against the fence, the rough wood biting into her palms. A guttural sigh tore from him as he buried himself to the hilt, holding there, thick and unyielding inside her.

Then he pulled back and drove in again, his cock filling her again and again—every stroke sending shockwaves rattling through her thighs and spine.

A broken moan scraped free as the fence bit deeper into her palms and her body clenched around him, every nerve on fire—

—and that’s when his arm came around her waist, hand sliding lower until his fingers found her clit.

The sudden pressure made her jolt, another cry spilling from her lips as he circled and teased, stroking in perfect rhythm with his thrusts.

Her legs shook, muscles twitching as the sensations coiled hotter, tighter, until it felt like her whole body was unraveling from the inside out.

“Fenn!” She gulped for air until she snapped, her body quaking as waves of release crashed over her.

His growl tore through the night, merging with her cries as he came undone inside her, with her.

Each shudder tore through him and into her, his convulsions rippling against the spasms of her own climax until the two of them came apart together, winded and raw.

Even after, he stayed rooted within her, hips rolling in a final, desperate grind as though he could hold the release in place, draw it out forever.

Only when the trembling began to ease did Fenn’s arm loop around her waist again, holding her upright before her legs gave out. And together, they sank into the shallow water, splashes fanning around them as his chest heaved against her back, the last beats of ecstasy still rippling through them.

They dressed in silence, their movements sluggish. Leaning back against the rough wooden fence, she tilted her head toward the sky, letting the cool rain pour down, mingling with the warmth of her skin and washing away the sweat and mud.

His hand slid into hers, fingers entwining tightly as she rested her head against his shoulder.

“Are we going to be all right?” she asked.

He pulled a deep inhale. “Are we talking about the war or us?”

She turned and bit his bicep, earning a surprised grunt. “Us, ding dong. I can worry about the war later.”

“What the hell is a ding dong?” He snorted, then kissed her forehead. “You love me.”

“Obviously.”

“And you have feelings for Kaelith. A life you never got to finish with him.”

“Yes.” She couldn’t lie to him.

“All the elements, Rynna. What am I supposed to do with that?”

She didn’t know. She wasn’t even sure what she was asking him to do.

“He’s a monster,” Fenn said quietly.

“Yes.” So am I.

They sat in silence for she didn’t know how long.

“Okay.”

She blinked. “Okay?”

“I…” He hesitated. “I just need some time to wrap my head around it.”

“Around what?” Her eyes widened.

“Around our new reality.” He winced, but there was a softness in his voice. “That there is both an us...that I don’t think I could give up under any circumstances, so long as you still want it.”

“I do!”

His lips curled into a weary smile. “And that there is also a you and him, or might be at some point.”

“Fenn!”

“No, no. No more talking.” He dropped his head against the fence, letting out a long blow of air. “That’s all I can handle for right now. Just…give me some time.”

She searched his face. Hoping that this wasn’t acceptance of something he’d never be okay with.

“I’m serious, Rynna,” he muttered, eyes closing as his head lolled slightly.

“I didn’t say anything!” She pouted, even as hope dared to bloom.

“But I can hear a thousand questions churning through your mind.” His arm flexed around her, pulling her closer. “Now, let’s just…rest a moment.”

She was about to say something more when she realized his breathing had already deepened into the rhythm of sleep.

Smiling, she caressed his cheek, then gently lifted his arm and crawled away for a moment.

She found his medallion nearby, soaked in mud, and carefully wiped it clean before placing it back over his head.

Soundlessly, she slipped back under his arm, glancing around the empty camp, ensuring no one was watching.

Then, scrunching her brows, she summoned the faintest flicker of fire from within.

Not the forbidden fire. Just a little fire element and just enough to warm the space around them as the rain continued to pour.

Feeling the heat settle, she closed her eyes and allowed sleep to claim her as well.
