Chapter 8
Axel
Fuckin’ hell it’s been a long ass day. Here I thought yesterday when I’d hit the road going up to the Devil’s Riot MC clubhouse, I’d be having a few beers right about now at Dolly’s Playhouse. I had heard a shit ton about it. How the dancers were some of the best on the east coast.
Now I’m pulling into my driveway behind my woman, kid, and her friend, Lyrica, with Fuse pulling in beside me. Luckily, Tyres was quick to think about my house having nothing in it for Alec, called our Prez, Chains. He’d gotten his ol’ lady, Tiny, to help him out with that.
Since Tiny came to us a little over a year ago, she’s finally starting to come out of her shell more and more.
Willing to go for short amount of times away from the clubhouse by herself or with Nora but normally she doesn’t leave without Prez being with her.
Plus, with her being pregnant, Chains doesn’t like for her to be out of his sight.
I don’t blame him either. Not after the shit they have been through already with him nearly dying from a bullet to the chest.
Shit, him and I have both been shot but I will give him credit he did something I should have done. Kept his woman near him rather than send her away. Seeing the way my Prez is with Tiny I know how much I royally fucked up with Faith. I intend to fix that as much as possible.
I had a lot of time to think on the way back and during one of the pit stops to fill up the tanks in our bikes and Faith’s car, I put my plan in motion, hence the reason Fuse is parking his bike next to mine as my woman parks her car in the driveway.
Fuck me. Seeing it parked where she used to put it causes something in my chest to twinge. I swear if I didn’t know better with the way my thoughts keep running rampant, I would have to check to make sure I still had my dick and hadn’t grown a fuckin’ pussy like some bitch.
Shutting my bike off, I remove my helmet and climb off.
“Brother, you sure about this?” Fuse mutters as he does the same.
Glancing in Faith’s direction as she cuts the engine then back to my brother. “Yeah, I’m sure. I need this time with them without Lyrica here. Long as you don’t mind her bunkin’ down at your place?”
“Naw, ain’t gotta problem with it, brother,” he states with a shake of his head.
“Appreciate it, brother,” I nod as I make my way to Faith’s door and open it for her. Fuse does the same thing for Lyrica.
“You’re with me, Mouthy,” Fuse declares, grabbing ahold of her hand.
“What?” Lyrica hisses. “I’m not going anywhere with you, jerkface.”
“Babe, you are. There’s no fuckin’ room for you to stay here.
So that means you either bunk down at my house which is a mile down the road, or I take you to the clubhouse and you can stay with the strays.
Your choice.” Damn Fuse is fuckin’ good at not losing his patience.
I wouldn’t be able to put up with Lyrica’s attitude.
“Strays?” Lyrica asks, her nose turned up.
“Um, they’re, um the clubwhores,” Faith murmurs, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
“Seriously?” Lyrica sneers, the corner of her lip curling.
“You think I would want to stay around a bunch of loose as shit women, who spread their legs for you and God knows who else. Probably has some sort of STD or better yet they carry around skanky disease. Hell no. I’ll crash on Axel’s floor, before I do that shit and anyways, he has a couch I’m sure I can sleep on. ”
“Faith,” I murmur under my breath for my woman to hear me. “She’s not staying here.”
“Alex,” Faith whispers as she lifts her head to meet my gaze.
I shake my head in response to this. “Not happenin’. We need to be alone and that can’t happen with your girl here with us.”
Furrowing her brow, she stays quiet for a brief moment letting my words sink in. Finally, she nods her head and turns to face Lyrica. “Why don’t you stay tonight? Tomorrow you and I will go looking for a new place.”
I don’t fuckin’ think so. That shit’s not about to happen. Faith is gonna stay with me and I’m not going to let her out of my sight. Not a–fuckin’–gain.
I open my mouth to inform Faith of this; however, Lyrica beats me. “Fine, but just so you know I’m doing this under protest. I’ll be back first thing in the morning.”
Great.
“Okay, Ly,” Faith murmurs as she moves to the back seat to help Alec out of his car seat.
With it being late he was zonked out, the portable DVD player I’d gotten him from the store before we hit the road on the seat next to him along with his activity table.
I wanted him to not be bored the entire trip, so I made sure he had several cartoon movies I let him pick out along with some other things.
“Here, baby, let me get him,” I say stepping forward and guiding her out of the way to pick Alec up into my arms.
“Come on, Lyrica, I’m tired and want to get in my bed. Lucky you I have a spare room with a bed in it so you don’t have to sleep in mine,” Fuse declares but something in the way he states this confuses the hell out of me.
“Whatever,” Lyrica snaps as she moves to my brother. I don’t bother waiting for them to leave, instead I grab hold of Faith’s hand and pull her along with me while carrying Alec in my arms.
I only let go of her hand when we get to the porch.
Reaching into my pocket, I pull out my keys, find the one I’m looking for and open the door.
I step into the house and wait for Faith to follow.
My eyes go to her as I turn holding the doorknob in my hand.
She seems apprehensive about stepping over the threshold.
“Baby, the house isn’t gonna bite you,” I mutter.
“Right,” she whispers and quickly steps inside.
Closing the door, I lock the door and move toward the stairs. “I’m gonna go put Alec in his bed.”
“His bed?” she asks.
Glancing back at Faith, I find her still standing by the door. “Yeah, ma fée , his bed,” I state and turn my attention back to taking my son to his room. A room he should have been in all this time. If not for my stupidity he would have been.
I make it to Alec’s room to find Tiny outdid herself in getting his room set up.
A single size mattress on one side of the room with a motorcycle comforter on top of it with a teddy bear in a cut laying against a pillow.
There was even a guard type thing on the side of the bed to keep Alec from rolling out.
On the other side of the room sat a battery powered kid’s motorcycle.
Two dressers took up the other walls and a nightstand sat directly next to the bed with a lamp, again with a motorcycle designed into it.
I’m going to owe that woman big for doing all this for Alec.
I walk across the room, pull the covers back, and gently lay him in the middle of the bed. I sense Faith before I see her as she steps next to me, leans down to cover Alec up as she kisses his forehead. Yeah, my woman is definitely one fuckin’ great mom.
Taking her hand, I pull her from the room and take her directly to ours.
“Alex,” she murmurs in protest as I close the door.
Pulling her into my arms, I don’t waste another minute in doing something I’ve been dying to since I did it this morning.
Claim my woman’s mouth.
