Chapter 58 Nyx
NYX
What a great weekend. Graham and Callum’s parents stayed the whole weekend.
It was nice to have them here. They made me feel like part of the family.
Amanda has already started referring to me as her daughter, and it warms my soul.
I have a feeling the boys are up to something, and honestly, for once in my life, the unknown isn’t terrifying.
Aly, Kyra, and myself are taking some girl time this morning.
We are going shopping. It’s Kyra and my first time out of the house since we were rescued, and we’re feeling a little smothered by the guys.
While Graham and Demitri have been going into the office for meetings and work stuff, Callum has been attached at the hip.
If we are in the gym, he is there spotting our lifts.
If we go for a walk on the property, if he is not right there making conversation, he lingers a few paces back from us.
Even when Aly is visiting, he is right there or the next room over.
So, to solve that, Aly suggested we take some time to go out.
She has been at the house a lot with us, the two of us teaching Kyra some self-defense moves.
All of our bodies are peppered in bruising from hours spent working through our demons in the gym.
We got dressed to leave for the day, trying to hide our bruises as well as we could.
The gate buzzes, letting me know that Aly is pulling up to the house.
“Ky!” I holler up the stairs. “Aly is here!”
I hear the guest bedroom door shut, and she comes scurrying down, fixing her hair and lip gloss. What the actual fuck? She looks like a girl caught in the act of something, but I don’t see Callum or anything.
“Ready to go?” Kyra slings her purse over her chest and slides on her adorable black boots. They give off the vibe of a hiking boot, but they are just from Sketchers. Grabbing my bag, I head for the door and open it just seconds before Aly can knock.
”Woah.” Aly takes a step back.
“I heard the gate buzz come through.” I laugh and wait for Kyra to follow me out.
“Does she look like she has those ‘just had a make-out session’ lips?” Aly whispers into my ear.
“Ya, I’m not sure what is going on because the last I knew, Cal was in the guest house, but she came out of her room fixing her hair and lip gloss.” I keep my voice low in response.
Her eyes go wide, and she has a look of shock written all over her face. “Wait a damn minute.” She gets loud enough that Kyra’s head snaps up.
“What are y’all talking about up here?” Kyra skips up to us with a smile on her face.
“Oh, ya, know, just talking about how your lips look swollen from a really good make-out sesh.” Aly just blurts out. Kyra’s face turns bright red just moments before she lowers her eyes and runs to Aly’s SUV. She climbs in the back and closes the door. “We will finish this talk later.”
Aly climbs in the driver's seat before heading to Grant’s to grab some lunch.
Walking in, we are greeted by an adorable red-head who is walking around from the bar.
“Hey y’all. My name is Molly. How can I help ya’s today?” She is the cutest damn thing I think I have ever seen in this place. I can tell she is trying so hard to hide a southern drawl, and her eyes are so green, it cannot be natural.
“Just grabbing some lunch before we head out for a girl’s day.
Is Grant in?” I respond to her while she grabs up some menus and shows us to a booth along the far wall.
This isn’t the one we normally sit in, but that’s okay with me.
There is a giant photo of Justin Verlander hanging over the table to keep me occupied.
“He will be in shortly. What can I get you girls to drink?”
Aly and I order Dr. Peppers, while Kyra could drink her body weight in Mt. Dew Zero. Thank goodness Grant has listened to us and started carrying everything we love. I know Dr. Pepper isn’t a normal carry for him.
Lunch is uneventful. We just make idle chit chat, and I know it is killing Aly to not make a mention about Callum.
I don’t think she knows that he has a thing for Kyra, and if I am being honest, I am not sure what Kyra is feeling currently.
We need to get shit squared away with Mike, but I am not sure she even knows what she wants to do with him.
I would have dumped his ass a long time ago, and then after what the guys said when they went to talk to him about us missing.
He is not worth the piss to put him out if he was on fire.
She is my best friend though, and I will support whatever decision she will make.
Molly keeps coming over to make conversation with us. She seems to be a sweet girl, but there is a darkness lurking in her. I want to know her story, and our little group could use a fiery redhead.
“So, how do y’all know Grant?” Molly asks in her half-hidden drawl.
“He is friends with my boyfriends.” I see the shock in her eyes when I answer. Here is her test.
“Umm, pardon my asking. Did you say boyfriends? Like with an ‘S’?”
“Yes, like two men.” Kyra blurts out. She loves to explain them.
“Well, then.” Molly’s cheeks flush with embarrassment. “So are they just regulars here or does he know them some other way?”
“Her guys served in the Marines with him. I didn’t serve with them, but I am also a Marine.” Aly chimes in. I can tell she is feeling a little defensive over the twenty questions we are playing.
“Oh wait, are you with the Devil Dog guys?” Her eyes light up with excitement.
”Yup, that’s me. Demitri and Graham are my guys.” I give her a sweet smile, knowing I should probably text them and check in. I pick my phone up off the table while I hear Aly and Kyra answering more of Molly’s questions. Opening up the group chat with them, I type out:
Me: Hey, we are at Grant’s grabbing food. Love you. There is this adorable waitress here asking 20 questions about you. Should I be worried?
Blue: I only got eyes for you, beautiful.
Demon: Should we be concerned that she is looking too deeply into us?
Me: Aly is on the job I wouldn’t worry too much. Just wanted to check in let me get back to the girls.
Blue: *Kisses*
Demon: Love you.
I come back to the conversation being had just as Molly has to go greet new guests that walked in the door.
“Weird. She asked about the guys of Devil Dog but not really your guys. Whatever. I’ll make sure Grant keeps an eye out.” Alyra explains.
We finish up our lunch, pay our tabs and head out the door for a fun afternoon with my girls.
