Chapter 37

Lacey

The truck console is about to get ripped off its screws if I don’t move it now.

Crawling onto Beckett’s lap, he deepens our kiss, sliding his tongue past my lips, a moan escaping my lips.

“Here?” he whispers against my neck.

I whimper. “Here.”

Sitting up on my knees, I unzip my jeans, and he does the same with his, freeing himself a lot easier than I can free my own skin.

“Slide down on me, Lace. All the way,” his voice husky and authoritative.

I hover myself over his head, precum glistening at the top, and rub my wetness across it, making Beckett’s eyes roll back in his head.

“Fuck,” he moans.

Lowering myself down easily, I savor the feeling of him stretching my walls the more he disappears inside me.

“Ride me, Cowgirl,” Beckett smirks, and it gives me all the confidence I need to slowly move up and down his shaft, the feeling of euphoria building inside me the more I stretch with him.

“Beckett,” I moan, and he takes my mouth to his, my warmth crashing with his, our lips only parting to grab air.

“You’re fucking perfect.” He praises me while moving his hands up my shirt, grabbing my perky nipples, and pinching them slightly.

My head falls back in excitement, the feeling of having him inside me and his hands on me making my entire body tingle.

“Beckett, I am going to come. Oh my god. I am coming,” I squeal out, every nerve in my body coming to life. My muscles constrict and pull Beckett’s own release from him.

Catching our breath, Beckett moves the hair out of my eyes. “That one was too quick. I need more.”

I bend down, kissing him. “Let’s get inside then.” I wink, pulling off him and pulling my pants up, running out of the truck, hoping he chases me.

In no time, he grabs me by the waist, making me squeal once we reach the porch, our laughter echoing through the house when we walk inside.

“Oh.” I stop in mid-step. “I didn’t realize we had company.” I bend down at the cutest little blue-eyed boy sitting at the kitchen bar eating some gummies.

“Oh. Sorry, Lacey. He had to potty, and I knew we wouldn’t make it to my house. Then he saw the gummies in the dish by the bar and wouldn’t stop until he had them,” Briggs says.

“That’s no problem,” I smile at the little guy. “And what is your name?”

“Gunna,” he nods.

“Gunner,” Briggs corrects him.

“Well, Gunner. Have you ever seen a horse?”

“No.” He shakes his head.

“If you be good for your daddy, I will take you to meet some before supper.” I turn to Briggs. “Do y’all want to eat here with us tonight?”

“Oh, I don’t want to intrude. He is a lot to handle.”

“Nonsense. There is plenty and it will be fun.” I smile.

Beckett still hasn’t said a word. He stands behind me frozen in place.

“Gummee!” Gunnar holds up his gummy towards Beckett, but Beckett just nods.

“He is trying to share with you.” I nudge Beckett closer to the little blonde hair boy, but Beckett walks backward instead of forward.

“I’ll take some.” I smile at Gunner and let him hand me a gummy. “You are so sweet. Thank you.”

“I-I got to go.” Beckett finally says.

“What?” I eye him. He’s totally different from a few moments ago out in the truck. “Well, at least come back to supper.”

“I might.” He says before rushing out the door.

“That was odd, huh?” I say to Gunner, but look up at Briggs who stands with his arms crossed, seeming as confused as I am.

* * *

“Is this fun?” I look up at Gunner, his daddy on the other side of the saddle holding him up while I lead Timmy, one of our oldest geldings, around the round pen.

“Fun!” Gunner smiles, making me laugh.

“Thank you, Lace,” Briggs says. “I don’t have him a lot, just me and him, and I was so nervous.”

“Of course. Is his mom okay?” I ask.

Briggs nods. “Yeah, thinks it’s a stomach virus. She was afraid little man would get it.”

“She sounds like a good mama.”

“She is. She really stepped up when we found out she was pregnant. I was terrified and a dick to begin with. At one point I even told her I didn’t want anything to do with the baby or her.

” He looks disappointed in himself. “How I could ever be so stupid to not want to be in this little guy’s life is beyond me.

I went with her to a dr. appointment one day because she couldn’t drive herself and had no one else. So, I went.”

Briggs eyes become watery, making my heart constrict. “I heard his heartbeat, and saw him on the screen moving around, and it was like something snapped inside me. He was real, and I knew right then and there I wanted to be in his life even if his mother and I aren’t together.”

“My daddy used to say none of us are perfect, but it’s the way we make things right after doing something wrong that says a lot about our character.

You did the right thing, Briggs, and this little man adores his daddy.

Look at the way he is looking at you.” We both look up and Gunner is cheesing hard at his daddy.

“Horsey,” he says and giggles.

“Yes. Horsey.” I smile.

“So, what was wrong with Beckett earlier?” Briggs changes the subject.

I shrug. “I have no idea. I hope he comes to supper tonight.”

“You really like him, don’t you?”

“I do.” I smile.
