Chapter 4 The Shield
I was shocked.
Although I had learned some Taekwondo and loved fitness, my strength was better than a normal girl's.
But I couldn't possibly fight two men bare-handed.
With Brother Yong and Scarred Brother protecting her, was going to the Zero-Yuan Purchase really that important to Xu Hui?
The answer was no.
So only one possibility remained.
If in danger, Xu Hui wanted to use me as a shield.
Losing me as a shield, she would send two more to the door soon.
The two women from 1204 came to beg Brother Yong to take them to the Zero-Yuan Purchase.
Brother Yong and Scarred Brother were about to refuse, as two men taking three women would only slow them down.
But Xu Hui's eyes turned, and she smiled sweetly, urging Brother Yong to bring them along, acting very generous.
Only I knew how much Xu Hui despised the two women from 1204.
She called them little vixens every day, who only flirted with men online to show off.
This trip was doomed to be unsuccessful.
But since I couldn't protect myself, I wouldn't take the initiative to warn anyone.
The sky had a hole punched in it.
In just a moment, the water level rose alarmingly, flooding up to the chests of adult men.
I lay on the windowsill and saw Brother Yong and Scarred Brother bring out the Inflatable Boat and put it into the rain.
They climbed onto it with difficulty and prepared to leave.
Other residents in the community heard the noise and poked their heads out:
"Damn! You have an Inflatable Boat? Can you help me tell my dad to pick me up?"
"What are you going out for? Officials said to wait for rescue at home. It's dangerous outside, come back!"
Xu Hui, wearing a raincoat and sitting on the Inflatable Boat, held a kitchen knife and waved grandly at the building:
"The Apocalypse is coming, and you're all just a bunch of useless people who only know how to wait to die. When we build our base, don't beg us to take you in."
Hearing this, the community fell into chaos:
"They seem to be going for supplies. Is the world really ending?"
As Xu Hui and the others left, some people stared fixedly at their backs, with a vicious light flashing in their eyes.
They started plotting secretly.
Xu Hui, who had read so many apocalypse novels, had forgotten the most important thing.
When disaster strikes, human nature is the scariest thing.
Thinking of this, I took out iodine and cleaned the wound on my palm, bandaging it with clean cloth.
I started remodeling the house without stopping.
