Chapter 19 Drunk at My Door
A heavy weight settled in my chest. I went home, pulled a beer from the fridge, and drank until the room spun.
Late that night, knocking woke me.
I opened the door. Mu Jinci stood there, drunk, tears streaking her face. None of her usual arrogance remained.
She stumbled forward, arms around me. “Su Yueming… I was wrong. I won’t mess up again. Remarry me. I’ll give you children. We’ll be happy…”
I pushed her away. “Stop this. Don’t you have Chen Yi? Go cling to him.”
“No…” She shook her head. “It’s you I love. Su Yueming…”
She looked up at me, pleading. “I treated you badly. I know that now. Give me one chance to make it right. I can’t live without you.”
“Mu Jinci, you look pathetic. You’re the one who stayed out all night. Now you’re the one begging. What do you even want from me?”
“I want us to be together again.”
“Not happening.”
Tears spilled down her cheeks.
“Even if I beg like this?”
“You’re choosing to degrade yourself. Don’t blame me. Trying to guilt me only makes you look worse.”
“Why…”
She tried to throw herself at me again. I held her back.
“Su Yueming, why? I came back. I’m begging you. Why are you still so cruel? You used to love me so much…”
“You want to know why?” I stared down at her. “Because you have no boundaries. You’re shameless. I want nothing to do with someone like you. Seeing you makes me sick. Understand?”
