Chapter 11 The Three of Us
Zhou Yang, Ruoyu, and I—the three of us had grown up together.
Ruoyu's family wasn't well-off. From living expenses at school to work resources after we entered society, Zhou Yang and I had always helped her out.
Ruoyu was beautiful and cheerful. Because of various concerns, Zhou Yang had always kept his feelings for her secret.
But I saw it clearly—Ruoyu looked like she had some feelings for Zhou Yang too.
Originally, I only wanted to bury my secret crush on Zhou Yang in the river of time.
But then, a year after we graduated from college, Ruoyu was suddenly discovered by a talent scouting company.
The company required her to train in overseas markets first, polish her credentials, then return. The date of her return was uncertain.
So before she left the country, Zhou Yang confessed to her.
But Ruoyu didn't accept. She resolutely chose her future.
Later, something happened to Zhou Yang's family. His parents and older brother died in a car accident.
The Zhou Group fell into chaos overnight.
Zhou Yang, who had been sheltered by his family his whole life, knew nothing about running a company.
Shareholders inside the company eyed him hungrily. Outside competitors stirred restlessly.
Under Zhou Yang's hands, the Zhou Group became a complete mess.
And that was when Ruoyu returned in triumph.
She resolutely terminated her contract with her original company and joined Zhou Yang's.
To Zhou Yang, it was nothing short of a lifeline in a snowstorm.
On the first day Ruoyu signed with the Zhou Group, the stock price hit the daily limit up.
That was the second year of my marriage to Zhou Yang.
For a teetering entertainment company, a top star with a massive popularity gap was like a lifeline itself.
Ruoyu single-handedly revived Zhou Yang's company.
The Zhou Group needed Ruoyu to hold it up.
So Zhou Yang needed her.
For traffic and buzz, they always appeared together at public events.
Even when some ambiguous behavior got caught by the media fishing for stories, they only said it was a habit from growing up together.
The PR was airtight.
But only I understood the undercurrents hidden beneath the surface between them.
The reason they could openly enjoy crossing lines and flirting, completely ignoring my pain and loss—
was because they had a reasonable and legitimate excuse: "for the Zhou Group."
"Even if you don't sign the Divorce Agreement, so what? Does it mean anything?
"We've long since had no reason to continue. You never loved me at all, did you?"
Zhou Yang said nothing more. He only furrowed his brows tightly and clenched his fists.
As if he were holding something back, brewing something.
After a long wait, he finally spoke, as if laying bare his heart:
"The three of us—just maintaining this... wouldn't that be fine?"
