Chapter 59

FIFTY-NINE

SAVANNAH

As soon as my feet hit the floor and I spin around to where I know I’ll find Logan, he surprises me by gripping my wrist and dragging me toward his door, his signature glare on his face.

“What’s wrong?” I ask, and if possible, he glares even harder.

“If you and Harley have sorted your shit out, then you don’t need to climb through my window anymore, you can use the front door like a normal person.

” He opens his door and pushes me out of it.

“If you’re gonna be sneaking into anyone’s room, it’ll be his.

” He points to a door at the end of the hall before closing the door in my face.

“Good to see you too, asshole,” I mutter under my breath.

He’s been different lately. Not that he’s ever been a ball of sunshine because the guy is seriously wound tight, but he’s been getting agitated for no reason these last couple of weeks and has been spending a lot more time staring at his phone.

Maybe it’s something to do with the girl I saw him watching?

Who the hell knows when it comes to Logan.

I head down the hall and let myself into the unfamiliar room.

Unlike Logan’s room, Harley’s actually bothered to make this place his.

There are spots of color in places, whether it be the blue comforter or the deep green chair in the corner of the room, he’s found a way to somehow make the space look clean, yet adding a little brightness in places.

It’s so him that I can’t help but smile.

I hear the shower running from an adjoining room, and I take a moment to walk around the room, noting some of the pictures on his dresser.

One is a picture of him with his mom and dad.

Another is of him, the guys and Gracie when they were younger, Harley’s eyes alight with humor as Logan glares at him.

I want to keep seeing him smile like that, so carefree and full of joy.

I back away from the pictures and sit on the bed facing the door to the ensuite as I wait for him to come out.

We’ve been spending more and more time together.

We’ve had sex and hung out, but we’ve never really talked about what any of it means.

That’s probably just something I need and not him, because he’s always been more of the go-with-the-flow type of guy.

I’m pretty sure in Harley’s mind, everything has already worked out. He always was optimistic, and I’m glad to see that hasn’t changed.

I can hear him messing around in the bathroom before he finally opens the door, wearing nothing but a towel.

Goddamn, the man is gorgeous.

“Sav?” I barely hear his voice as I stare at him, noting the water dripping down his chest and the way his towel hangs low on his hips. He’s using another towel to dry his hair, and the way his arms bunch at the movement almost has me drooling.

But then I’m snapped out of it by the asshole tossing the towel at me. It’s wet from his hair, and I grunt before throwing it to the floor.

“Why did you do that?” I growl and he smirks.

“You were too busy eye fucking me that you didn’t hear me speak. What are you doing in here?”

That, I don’t actually have an answer for, but he doesn’t seem put out. No, his question is casual, which makes me breathe a sigh of relief.

He drops the towel and starts pulling on a pair of sweats, and I almost swallow my tongue once again, but I decide to answer his question with snark instead of begging him to join me here on the bed.

“What? Can’t a girl sneak into a guy’s room without it being weird?

Harley snorts. “You can sneak in whenever you please, baby. You’re mine. That means you’re always welcome here.”

“What does that mean, exactly? That I’m yours?” I ask and hold my breath. He’s said it before, but it’s always been in the heat of the moment, and I honestly don’t know if he means it literally, or if it’s just a figure of speech.

The thing about Harley is that he’s almost never serious, no matter the situation, so I really don’t know what to think.

He frowns, his shirt forgotten in his hand as he stares at me with bewilderment. “You still haven’t figured it out, have you?”

“Figured what out, Harley?”

“That all of the shit in the past doesn’t matter. That we’re moving on, together. That we’re going to figure out how to get rid of your father and then you’re going to move on… with me if you’ll have me. You’re mine. I’m yours. We belong to each other. What more do you need, baby?”

I blink at him, understanding his words, but they still don’t resonate with me. I need facts, figures and statistics, not pretty words that only half make sense.

“I just… I still don’t get it.”

“Jesus Christ,” he mutters under his breath and takes a step toward me before hesitating. He looks around the room before his gaze finally settles on the window. He heads toward it and opens it before he… starts to climb out of it?

Did this asshole seriously just jump out of a window in order to avoid a conversation with me?

I’m about to lose my shit when I realize he’s only half hanging out of it and seems to be grabbing something from outside. He’s always been weird, but I’ve gotta say, this is next level.

What the fuck is he doing?

He shimmies his way back inside, and it’d be hilarious if it wasn’t for the seriousness of the conversation we were having previously.

“Here.” He holds out… weeds? No, at a closer look, I realize they’re blue flowers that must be growing beneath his window, and at an even closer look, I realize what type of flowers they are.

Forget-me-not flowers, because the universe is clearly on his side.

“Okay…” I say and take the flowers from his outstretched hand. “Thank you?”

He rolls his eyes and takes a seat on the bed next to me.

“I’m not good with pretty words, Sav. I’m the joker, not the serious one.

But when I say you’re mine, I mean it one hundred percent.

I want us together. You and me. Boyfriend and girlfriend, or whatever,” he adds with a cringe, and I can’t help but laugh.

“I’ve never had a boyfriend,” I state, and that lights up his face.

“Yeah? I’ve never had a girlfriend, so I guess we’ll have to figure it out together.”

“Together,” I echo, and he lies down on the bed next to me.

“You and me, little devil.”

“You know, you can stop calling me that now you don’t hate me.”

He chuckles breathlessly and rises up so his elbow is resting on the bed, his face held up by his hand, and he starts playing with a strand of my hair.

“Baby, just because I don’t hate you anymore doesn’t mean you’re not my little devil.

Fuck, Sav, that name is literally you. You’re brave, and snarky and combative as hell when you want to be, and I wouldn’t change that. ”

“Harley, I…” My words trail off, unable to even find it in me to respond to what he’s saying. It’s true that I’ve always been myself with him, yet I rarely show that side to others, so for him to like a part of me only he knows? It means so much more than I could ever say.

It means everything.

He means everything.

And so, I do the only thing I can think of to show him that. I press my lips to his and pour everything I’m feeling into it. Every thought and every emotion I’m too afraid to voice aloud.

All of it and all of me is his.
