Chapter 298
Trey’s mind was in chaos. Fever, exhaustion, and obsession had stripped away whatever restraint he once had.
He didn’t go into the Fox Group building.
He stood instead at the entrance, waiting.
Waiting for Khloe.
Not for the company. Not for the Fox family.
For her.
Because if he missed her today, he knew—he might never get another chance to speak.
And he had to say it.
Everything.
That he loved her. That he had always loved her. That he could still fix what he had broken.
Time passed in a blur.
Then, finally—
Her car arrived.
Khloe stepped out.
The moment Trey saw her, something in him snapped forward. He pushed open the car door and rushed straight toward her.
“Khloe!”
His voice cut through the air.
But before he could reach her, security guards intercepted him, grabbed his arms, and forced him back.
A bodyguard immediately stepped in front of Khloe as well.
She didn’t move.
She simply looked down at him.
And in that single glance, Trey felt the difference.
Only a short time apart—but he looked like a man falling apart at the seams. His once precise appearance was gone: stubble shadowed his jaw, his shirt was wrinkled, his collar uneven. His breathing was uneven, his face pale from lingering fever.
Yet his eyes—
Still fixed on her.
Still refusing to let go.
“Khloe…” His voice cracked. “Please… just let me say a few words.”
She said nothing.
That silence cut deeper than rejection.
Trey swallowed hard and forced himself forward again, only to be held back.
“I know I was wrong,” he said quickly. “I know you don’t want to see me. But… don’t erase everything between us. We once loved each other.”
At that, Khloe finally smiled.
But it wasn’t warmth.
It was ice.
“Love?” she repeated softly. “You think you have the right to say that word in front of me?”
Trey’s lips trembled.
“I don’t deserve it,” he said hoarsely. “But I do love you. I really do.”
Something in his posture collapsed.
And then—before anyone could react—he lowered himself.
He knelt.
Right there in front of the Fox Group entrance.
A man who had once stood above everything now bowed his pride to the ground.
“Khloe…” His voice broke. “Please. I’m not here for the company. I don’t care about any of it anymore. I just want you. Give me another chance… I can start over. I can give up everything.”
A flicker crossed Khloe’s eyes.
Not softness.
Something colder.
Almost like disappointment finally settling into place.
“You can give up everything?” she asked lightly. “That’s convenient.”
Trey lifted his head immediately, hope flashing through him.
But her next words crushed it.
“What about Angela?”
His expression faltered.
Khloe’s gaze stayed steady. “You say you want to start over with me. Then what happens to her?”
“I’ll divorce her,” he said instantly, almost desperate. “I will.”
No hesitation. No struggle.
Only urgency.
“And Pete?” Khloe continued. “Your child. Your son. Can you erase him too? Or is he part of the ‘everything’ you’re so willing to throw away?”
Trey froze.
For the first time, his confidence cracked.
His mouth opened—but nothing came out.
Because no answer would destroy him.
Khloe looked at him for a moment longer, then slowly turned away.
Not in anger.
Not in victory.
Just finality.
And that was what hurt the most.
