Chapter Forty
Blade
Today was definitely one I’ll never forget. I may not have been with Sera when she was implanted, but I was with Wrath and Flame. They still can’t believe all this is happening. I think it’s because, until today, it was more of a plan. Now, though, it’s more real. She’s actually implanted with the embryo that will hopefully become their child. Now it’s just a lot of hope and praying that it works out the first time.
It’s no surprise to me that she’s as tired as she is. The excitement coupled with undergoing the procedure has just taken it out of her. I don’t mind her sleeping, though; it gives me a chance to talk to Blaze. After two months of continuous planning, we’re finally at a point where we’re ready to start dealing with the men from Sera’s past.
Walking into the kitchen. I find Blaze sitting at the counter, drinking coffee.
“Got a minute?” I ask as I walk over and pour myself some coffee.
“Sure. What’s up?” Blaze says as he looks up at me.
“Do you want to go on the first trip?”
Blaze’s eyes flash with hatred. “Yes.”
I spend the next few hours showing Blaze everything that has been planned out for each man, but going into finer detail for the one he’s going after. Most of them are no ones. Just fucking perverts who won’t be missed when they disappear. There are two who aren’t going to be that easy, though. They’re a set of brothers who run a multi-million-dollar business. I haven’t quite figured out how we’re going to deal with them yet, but I will.
In the meantime, we have enough fuckers to keep us busy. Blaze is all for the plans I’ve come up with. Some are going to die in what looks like a home invasion. Other’s muggings. Even a few suicides. None of them are going to make it out alive, that’s for sure.

The next morning, I’m woken by my phone ringing. When I look at the caller ID, it says Joker. If I remember rightly, he’s helping cover the main gate while we’re down to only one prospect, Eric.
“Hello,” I say as I answer the call.
“Hey Blade, we have a problem.” Joker says.
“What’s up?” I say, as I shoot out of bed and start pulling clothes on.
“Fuck. Your Mom and Dad are standing outside the gates, man.”
I stop in my tracks at his words. What the fuck? How are they out? Why didn’t I know they were out? Shit. I need to pull myself together and deal with this.
“Do not let them inside. I’ll be there shortly.”
Hanging up, I carry on dressing and look over at the bed. Sera is staring at me, her eyes full of worry.
“What’s wrong?” She asks.
“My parents are at the gate, Angel. I need to go and deal with this.”
Her eyes fill with hatred at my words, and she’s suddenly hopping out of bed and getting dressed fast.
“I’m fucking coming with you, and don’t even try to argue with me. You best fucking text everyone as well so they’re aware.”
Fuck, she’s right. I didn’t even think about making the other Officers aware of what’s happening. Pulling out my phone, I send a quick group text to them all. Hopefully, Wrath and Flame will see it and keep Cam far a-fucking-way. My sick as fuck father does not need to be getting any idea”s about Cam. He”s the perfect age for what my Dad likes most.
“Don’t forget Mama June.” Sera says with a smirk.
That makes me chuckle. I have no idea if Mama June is even around today, but it’s best to let her know. She’ll kick up a big fuss if she isn’t made aware.
Once we’re both dressed, we head out of Blaze’s house and towards my bike. Normally I’d walk, but I want to get there as quickly as I can and get rid of them. It only takes minutes to arrive at the gates, and as we park, I hear more bikes. Looking over my shoulder, I see Wrath, Flame, Eagle, Ink, and Rock all riding towards us. They’ve fucking come out in force, that’s for sure. I couldn’t be more thankful for the support. I know I’m going to need it. I never thought the day would come where I’d have to face my so-called parents, but I know I can do it with my chosen family and my Angel at my back.
I wait for them all to park and dismount before walking towards the gates and nodding for Joker to open them. I step through hand in hand with Sera, with everyone else spread out behind us.
I get my first look at my so-called parents for the first time since they were locked up, and they don’t look good. They both look like they’ve aged at least twenty years since they’ve been locked up. Both of their faces are now wrinkly and full of stress lines. Their hair is now gray. Looking at them, I feel nothing. They mean nothing to me anymore. They are just two people who provided my DNA. They gave up the right to be anything more when I was a child. I know the only reason I feel this way is because Sera healed something inside of me that I didn’t realize needed healing, until she entered my life.
“What are you doing here?” I ask, voice hard.
“We wanted to see our son and tell you we forgive you.” My former mother says.
Her words earn snorts from everyone except Sera, whom I feel squeeze my hand hard.
“You’ve got to be fucking joking.” Sera spits out. “After what you two did, you fucking turn up here and say you forgive him. He did nothing wrong!” She’s shouting by the time she finishes speaking.
Letting go of her hand, I wrap my arm around her shoulder and pull her against me. Whispering into her hair, I say, “Calm down. You don’t need to be getting worked up.”
She hums in response, and I feel her taking deep breaths. Trying to calm herself down. As I stare at my former parents, I see a car speeding towards the gate. I know that car. Mama June has arrived, and from the speed at which she’s driving, she isn’t happy about these fuckers being here.
Behind me, I can hear everyone chuckling evilly. They all know shit is about to go down with Mama June’s arrival. The fuckers are staring at us in utter confusion at the way we’re all acting. They’ll find out soon enough why we’re behaving like this, as Mama June is parking up and getting out.
“I’d hoped your text was a fucking bad joke.” Mama June says as she walks towards us.
”Sorry, Mama, I wish it was.” I say with a small smile.
“Mama?” It’s my former father who speaks this time. “What the fuck? Your mother is standing right here.” He says as he points at his wife.
Mama June’s back goes up at that, and I know she’s about to let her temper fly.
”Oh, you’ve got to be fucking kidding me. Neither of you are his parents. Parents don’t fucking do what you two did. He stopped being your son the moment you two decided to abuse him, and he became mine the moment he came into my care. Now do us all a favor and crawl back into the hole you came out of and forget he exists.” She emphasizes her point by pulling out the knife that was strapped to her back.
We all burst out laughing at the look of fear that passes over both of their faces. Neither of them move until Mama June takes a step towards them. Then they’re both turning their tails and running as fast as they can.
“Fucking good riddance.” Mama June shouts after them. “Now come on, you lot, let”s head back inside and forget they ever existed.”
None of us argue with her, heading back through the gates and to our rides. My demons may not have been vanquished in the same fashion as Sera”s, but they’ve been vanquished all the same. And I know if they ever show their faces around here again, they’ll be finding out just how lethal the two women in my life are. I have no doubts in my mind that Mama June and Sera will work together and end them both. I’m sure if we weren’t standing at the gates of The Compound, they’d have both done something a lot more physical than what just took place.
I know I”m fucking lucky to have all these people in my life. They may not be my family by blood, but by god”s they are my true family, and I wouldn”t change them for the world.
