Chapter 3
“Your secretary looked a little frazzled,” Viper says with a smirk as he walks into my office.
He walked in just as Layna was wiping her face clean.
I should have come down her throat, but the temptation to shoot my jizz all over her face and tits was too strong to overcome.
I lean back in my chair, taking a breath and enjoying the fact that it’s clean air that only smells like sex.
Not of rats, roaches, and feces—which is the smell that is prominent in jail.
I’ve got the A/C on sixty-five. I know it’s probably cold for everyone else, but the stifling heat I’ve lived with inside of hell for the last four years is something I can’t seem to get away from.
“You’re early,” I respond with a shrug. My gaze moves over Viper.
He’s a big motherfucker—easily the biggest man of us all.
That’s why he holds the position of Enforcer.
He’s got shaggy brown hair that falls to his shoulders.
Today he has a red bandanna tied on his head.
He’s wearing worn blue jeans, a faded black tee, and his cut over that.
His beard is a little longer than I remember and definitely grayer.
Again, I’m reminded of the changes four years can bring. “Are those the files I asked for?”
The easy smile on his face fades slightly. “Yeah, there are three of them.” He slides them over to me. I place them on my desk directly in front of me. I want to look at them now, but I won’t until Viper leaves.
“Hangman told me your plan.”
“Let me guess, you don’t agree with it either?”
He brings his fingers up to scratch his chin through his beard.
“I don’t really have a horse in the race, boss.
This is on you. I’m not going to tell you how to feel.
I think Bear deserves justice. Losing him has hurt Ayita tremendously.
She’s not the same woman. So, I get it. That said, I don’t think the correct way to go about any of this is to go after Eyeball’s sister.
I’m not about to stand in your way, though.
You’re a grown man. I’d just challenge you to be careful. ”
“Worried about me?” I ask, cocking an eyebrow up in challenge.
“Yeah, but not in the way you think. Read Olivia’s file. She’s not Eyeball. She’s not the one who killed Bear.”
I roll my eyes. “I never said she was. That night, though …” I shrug, leaving the rest unsaid.
There’s no point. Viper knows. They all do.
Ayita was broken after Bear went missing and he was declared dead.
She vowed to find out exactly what had happened to him.
I think she lived for that even more than I did.
Together with the club, we did everything to find his body.
The closest we came was a surveillance video from the garage where the blood was located.
It showed an unconscious Bear lying in a pool of blood.
Two men—faces away from the camera—picked him up and spoke about disposing of the body where no one would find it.
I didn’t recognize the voices, but one guy had long hair a lot like mine.
He also had my fucking cut on—a cut I hadn’t worn in way too long because I was hiding who I truly was.
The footage was grainy, filmed at night, and not of the best quality.
Everything was in weird hues of gray and black.
It was all they needed to convict me. Ayita tried to get me out.
She even told the cops that we were together, hiding an affair, but the meeting that night with the zoning committee proved I was there and left about twenty minutes before Bear showed up on film arriving at the garage.
Ayita blamed herself. She told me she talked Bear into not rescheduling the meeting because Olivia had mentioned moving it up because everyone was anxious to get it done.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Olivia moved it up to kill my brother and frame me.
She was helping her brother. Maybe she didn’t do it willingly, but she still did it, and I will never forgive her.
She went into hiding that night, which is just as well.
If I had found her right after discovering my brother was gone, I would have killed her.
Now, I’m just going to make her suffer more pain than she ever imagined having in her lifetime.
So, if my brothers want to feel pity for Olivia, let them. It’s not going to change my mind. She’ll pay for her role in my brother’s death. I don’t care how big or small that role was. She had a hand in taking everything from me, and I won’t rest until I pay her back in kind.
Olivia sealed her own fate.
Viper holds his hands up as if in defeat. I shake my head. “Would you like to know what’s going on in the club?” he finally asks.
“Hangman has been keeping me in the loop,” I respond.
I may not be ready to assume the helm just yet, but I’ve always kept a close eye on the club.
Bear created our club partly so he could move closer to me.
We made the Cherokee chapter of the Saints Outlaws one of the toughest around—and succeeded.
No one wants to go against us. With the latest allies from Virginia in the Demon Chasers, as well as the Savage Brothers, we’re stronger than ever.
“With our allies, sure, but what about our men?” he asks.
Confused, I stare at him. “What do you mean?”
“Hangman told you we’ve got a Devil’s Chaser member there looking to take over Ranger’s position?”
“He did. None of our boys want the position?”
“Gravel thought about it. The other boys don’t really want the responsibility.”
“Why did Gravel back out?”
“His old lady, Sheila, didn’t really want him to. You know how she is. For years, that bitch has used Gravel’s dick to suck the life out of him.”
I laugh, but I don’t argue. Sheila is a piece of work. I guess that hasn’t changed since I’ve been in the slammer. “I’ll need to meet with him. What’s his name again?”
“King. He’s solid. I don’t really have shit to say bad about him. His current president doesn’t want to lose him, but I guess the guy has been going through some shit. He and his old lady split up. From what I hear, it got kind of nasty.”
“I’ll meet with him sometime next week. Is there anything else I should know?”
“Not really. The club misses you, though. Do you think you could spare time from your big plan of vengeance and drop by for the bonfire this weekend?”
“We’ll see. I have a few things to see to.”
He stands up, exhaling in what can only be described as an annoyed breath. “Be careful, Blade. You might get what you want at a huge cost.”
I snort. “Whatever. Talk to you later.”
Viper nods and walks away. I let him go, then laugh. I love my club and the loyalty they have to me and one another. They have no clue what lengths I will go to just to avenge my brother. I’ll do anything, and I won’t regret it.
Not at all.
