Chapter 17

One hour later, my Girlfriend appeared in the Chrysanthemum Garden compound again.

This time I was not following behind her.

Instead I took a shortcut and got there before her.

I already knew her target.

Before she reached the door of 603, I had already entered the apartment.

The room was pitch black. The owner had not returned yet.

I immediately hid inside the shoe cabinet by the entrance.

Not long after, I heard my Girlfriend opening the door.

She removed the Peephole, threaded the Wire, and hooked the handle.

The entire sequence was done in one smooth motion.

After entering, she reinstalled the Peephole.

Then she closed the door and stood quietly by the entrance, waiting.

I stayed inside the shoe cabinet, watching her blurry figure through the crack.

Half an hour later, there was finally movement outside the door.

More than one person was outside.

Her ambush plan instantly fell apart.

She reacted extremely fast and rushed into the kitchen.

Then I heard the sound of a Cabinet door opening.

Soon, the sound of a key turning came from the front door.

As the door opened, three men walked in.

I stayed hidden in the shoe cabinet, watching the three men who had just entered through the gap.

They reeked of alcohol, their faces flushed.

They carried large and small bags of food and drinks.

They were shouting about not stopping until they were drunk.

From their chatter, I learned that today was one of their birthdays. This was their birthday party.

They dumped everything onto the living room coffee table.

They opened beers, tore open snacks, and ate and talked.

Laughter, clinking glasses, and the smell of alcohol mixed together.

Before long, all the alcohol they brought was gone.

The owner of the house slapped his thigh.

"There is still good liquor in the Cabinet. I'll get it!"

He stood up and walked toward the kitchen.

My heart tightened. I broke into a cold sweat for my Girlfriend.

But once the man entered the kitchen, he never came out again.

The two men left in the living room kept chatting and laughing, completely unaware that anything was wrong.

After a long while, one of them muttered, "Why isn't he back yet?" and got up to walk into the kitchen.

The moment he stepped inside, I heard a short, sharp scream.

Then he clutched his neck desperately.

Blood gushed out between his fingers as he collapsed to the floor.

My Girlfriend had been waiting by the entrance and slit his throat in one clean cut.

The last man turned pale with fright. He lunged forward and pinned my Girlfriend hard to the ground.

Although she had killed two men, she had relied on surprise.

Now that she was being pressed down with full force, she was no match for him.

The knife had already fallen from her hand. Her neck was being strangled tightly, and her face quickly turned red.

I knew I could not wait any longer. I burst out of the shoe cabinet.

I pulled out a piece of Wire from my coat and wrapped it around the man's neck from behind, pulling hard.

The strength in the man's hands loosened. Only then could my Girlfriend breathe again.

I pressed my knee against his back and tightened the Wire even more.

His struggles grew weaker and weaker. Soon he went limp and stopped moving completely.

"How... is it you?"

My Girlfriend froze. Her eyes were filled with shock and confusion.

"Leave now! I'll handle the rest."

I lowered my voice and urged her.
