Blithe Spirits Along the Pumpkin Path

Halloween is closing in on Rowan Vale, the Cotswold living-history village, where pumpkin carving and apple bobbing will share the day with a midnight séance.

Television medium Melissa, known as Madam Mariska on It’s Haunted!

, is hiding a career-threatening truth: her gift for speaking with ghosts has failed, and she depends on her sister and assistant, Verity, to reach the spirits.

The village ghosts have gone on strike over the booking, and the rivalry between the sisters only deepens Verity’s unhappiness, even as she finds herself drawn to the calm and beautiful Mia.

Leaving Melissa to the séance, Verity follows a lit pumpkin path to the stone circle at the edge of the village and does something wholly unlike herself.

She has no idea how to undo it, or what it may mean for the living and the dead of Rowan Vale.
