Chapter 42

Groaning, I roll over. My eyes flutter open, and I sit up. My eyes widen; confusion spreads through me for a second before I flop back on the bed, breathing a sigh of relief.

I’m at Killian’s, in his bed. With a smile, I stretch.

The tightness in every muscle feels delicious.

I can’t get rid of my grin. I love every ache.

Looking down at my body, there are small marks peppered across my skin.

Love bites around my cock and thighs. I’ve no doubt my neck is littered, too.

I take a deep breath, smelling something divine.

I grab my glasses off the bedside table.

After standing and stretching out every muscle, I walk over to the drawers and grab a pair of Killian’s boxers and a T-shirt.

The boxers hang from my legs, but cling to my hips barely.

I slip the T-shirt over my head, and it’s like a dress, but I don’t care.

I step into the kitchen. I lean against the wall, watching him effortlessly move around.

I cross my arms over my body as I watch the man of my dreams create a meal like a chef.

It’s a glimpse of a future I could have.

He’s all I ever wanted. And now something’s changed, and he wants me, too.

I step into the room, slide my arms around his waist, and kiss his shoulder.

His hand rests over mine, and I lean my cheek against his back, smiling into the hug. He places the spoon down, and his body turns in my grasp, locking his arms around me, and kissing my head.

“Hey, Nerd,” he whispers into my hair as he kisses me again.

“Hey.” I grin, chasing his mouth.

“You’re insatiable.”

“Have you met you?” I smile at him. “You’re a man’s wet dream.”

The laugh that bursts out of him pebbles my skin and curls my toes. Groaning, I lift onto my tiptoes for a kiss. He lifts me, and I yelp as he carries me a few steps across the kitchen, setting my ass on the counter. I can’t help but smile at him and realise I’ve never felt so happy and confident.

“Hungry?”

I nod. He brings me a plate of pasta in a creamy chicken-and-mushroom sauce.

He stabs a fork into it, twisting the spaghetti around it before bringing it to my lips.

My tongue flicks out before my mouth opens around the fork of food.

I press my hand to my mouth as he removes the fork.

I chew, groaning at how delicious it tastes.

“Good?” He smiles, and I nod frantically.

“So good.” I grin. I’ve always loved Killian’s cooking.

His mum is a great cook. She taught me when I lived with them.

But his always tastes so much better. He fixes himself a plate and heads to the table.

I hop off the counter and join him. We eat in silence.

It’s comfortable, though. Just being near him feels normal.

I love how everything’s changed, while feeling like nothing really has.

He treats me the same, but also differently.

He certainly looks at me differently, but the way he does makes my skin heat and tingle and my heart swell.

I keep glancing at him while I eat. Caught between an “I can’t believe we’re together” and “Where do we go from here?”
